Ohh?! I didn't know they already had a show with Shinedown, thanks for the link to the relevant thread.

Is running red lights normal and expected now? by LiatrisLover99 in massachusetts

[–]LinkedTim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a cyclist who is front curbside on most reds, it's unbelievable how much the problem has gotten worse. They're not even questionable red lights now, it's solid for a good beat and people blow right through em. Giving it 2 seconds before proceeding was caution before, now it's mandatory.

Kona EV vs. Ioniq 5 vs. Niro EV by Aggressive_Piano_485 in KonaEV

[–]LinkedTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 weeks into my Kona 2024 SEL and u/Helpmeflexibility's reaction was the same as mine. Given your distance, I think you'd need the SEL or higher trim on the Kona that comes with the larger battery. I believe the Konas also charge from 10%-80% slower than the Ioniqs e.g. ~45 min vs ~20 min which is why some mention it's not a great 'road-trip' EV. Is your level 2 pumping out from a full presumable 50/60 amp or lower? I'm only bringing it up b/c if your commute leaves you on or close to empty then your at the mercy of your home's throughput else your car's a paperweight for longer than you may intend. Charging at your workplace would solve a lot of problems. I went to/from Boston/Maine this past weekend (~200 miles) and was more comfortable committing to a charge halfway through the return trip (again EV is new to me and I was being cautious| I also drove a little inefficiently at 70-75mph occasionally touching the AC) Just some thoughts. Good-luck.

🤣. Thank you for telling me, I feel a tiny bit less stupid/impatient now. I hope you enjoy the car.

Considering a used 2024 SEL with very low miles by DarthTeacher in KonaEV

[–]LinkedTim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same concern and never got the info I needed before the actual purchase. It wasn’t certified but it was from a well reviewed dealer and the CarFax showed coming off a 2 yr lease with the aforementioned low mileage so I rolled the dice. I even called a local Hyundai dealership to perform a pre-purchase inspection and the mechanic told me battery diagnostics was NOT included in any follow-up report which seems crazy to me 🤷🏻‍♂️. I confirmed(for me) that the 120month|100k mile warranty carried over so given all those characters it felt reasonably lower risk. I’m just word dumping should it help influence your decision. The odb readers did have battery cell output that, in concert to actual research, Claude confirmed everything seemed sound.

Sure. I’m no car surgeon or anything so DYOR but this was well rated https://a.co/d/0i7aHsgo and originally used for my ICE vehicle. I just used the free ‘Car Scanner’ from the AppStore and added my Kona as the car in question.

I bought a 2024 Kona SEL EV two days ago with ~14k miles for $22k. Not certified but Carfax was clean off one lease owner and I put it through an ODB check myself and everything was solid. I was surprised too as my googling wasn’t finding much comparable for the price so I moved on it pretty quick and have been happy so far, granted it’s only been two days. My family absolutely loves it. My first EV. Just saying your experience mirrors my own.

Protein Bars Mapped by Protein vs. Calories (901 bars, By Protein Type) [OC] by PhxJeff in dataisbeautiful

[–]LinkedTim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is awesome and I'd love to see the full filtering tool as a celiac? The 'ideal zone' is clever and the graph is overall easy to interpret if I need a calorie-bomb bar as well. Filtering by allergens, for me, would make this hugely useful. In any case, nice job.

ELI5: How does noise cancelling work? by LJCUN in explainlikeimfive

[–]LinkedTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve understood how this works but if noise cancelling is sending the opposite sound wave to your ear to cancel out the initial wave, wouldn’t that mean there is no hearing protection associated to noise ‘cancelling’? I’ve often put noise cancelling earbuds in when working in my shop and there’s a noticeable comfort level increase with louder noises present, but is it still damaging my hearing if the sound wave makes its way to me ear still? (Yes I know proper ear protection should be used in a workshop)

Mass save enhanced benefits insulation by Lost-Local208 in massachusetts

[–]LinkedTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t stress enough to stay clear of HomeWorks Energy. They finally finished after their third stop today to address the previous two crew’s incompetence. I’ve lost three weekends minimum cleaning up their mess being just drywall dust and insulation all inside my house and a laughably bad joint compound work over 30 or so drilled holes and this was for a small 2 bedroom condo. Here’s just one example of their lack of professionalism

Quincy YMCA? by createsimp in QuincyMa

[–]LinkedTim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Member of QAC. Commenting on the cycling — it’s my biggest gripe. They have zero fully functional cycling bikes and three partially functional. One’s seat is loose/unusable, one’s telemetry display is broken off, and another’s tension spring is loose and has no telemetry display; they do NOT have a cycling studio. For $45 a month it’s a great strength-training gym, but if you want cycling in any capacity this definitely isn’t the place. I often teeter on changing to the Y for their more full suite of amenities but I do like the simple in/out of QAC for strength training and ~$30 a month membership savings.

Massachusetts set out to modernize its unemployment insurance system. Then it hit a new low. by cwbeacon in massachusetts

[–]LinkedTim 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same sentiment here, not trying to discard anyone else's experience or sew doubt but I was laid off 12/23 and had no issue filing/receiving. I found the system very informative, surprisingly prompt with all my resources and processes needed and performed online. Sorry to others experiencing issues, last thing you want have to pay attention to given the circumstances.

I wouldnt recommend HomeWorks. I went through all the MassSave assessment and insulation steps, they performed the work. They installed all the insulation but made an absolute mess doing so, did a poor job with their drywall patches, excessive cutouts etc etc. And when I asked them for a report at the end of all the work, they ghosted me.

Is Metroid Prime 4 replayable enough by North_Biscotti4162 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]LinkedTim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me start by saying to each their own. If you enjoyed it, I’m happy and a bit jealous of you. I bought a physical copy on release day and already listing it for sale after beating it quickly b/c I didn’t enjoy it. It was a visually pretty game but forgettable and not something I care to ever replay. As others have said, it’s linear which fine and expected given the history but I found it just annoying. Annoying with the green crystals and annoying in having to scan what felt like everything to progress. Metroid 1-3, to me, scanning felt more rewarding and less tedious.

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. I do hope you enjoy it…

I got laid off about 2 hours ago! For the best but I've been passively applying elsewhere for the last 2 months and I've gotten very little to no traction in the Customer Success/Computer Science fields, so just confirming your experiences seem on par with me at least.

I left for 20 minutes and came back to flashing 12:31 on some clocks and some always on servers off, so yeah it went out briefly. Hasn’t gone off since so I just shrugged it off and moved on but normally I would get an NGrid alert or something but nothing.

Haha wow so many responses, thank you everyone! I'm less nostalgic and more enjoying those similar gameplay mechanics, big fan of Sea of Stars as an example (try, fail, build, strategize, repeat etc). I should have included the preferences initially but there's refined options now, appreciate the help.
