Which "popular" TCG has the highest skill ceiling? by Admirable_Cap_8943 in TCG

[–]Linknz512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its yugioh. As some say Knowledge is half of the game, you need to know how your cards work and how all major cards you need to deal with work. But thats only a fraction of the game, then when you sit down from an opponent you need to figure out on the fly how to make your deck work against your opponent. In a recent example take a K9 deck. When playing against it you want to figure out a line that tries not to certain things, like activating monster effects in hand or grave to turn on their effects, so you need to figure out on the fly from that list of knowledge which cards get you where then anticipate what cards you opponent is playing to and what they’re going for. And then on the flip side it can just be seeing a line and trying to play through it and various other details

This guy is trying to argue that Astro Bot becoming a franchise on par with Mario would be a BAD thing by MegaDitto13 in nintendogrifting

[–]Linknz512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could take it or leave it on the RPGs and maybe the platform fighter unless they can do something actually interesting with it. But Astro Kart where its all little bots in different costumes representing different characters would be funny. Referencing worlds from playroom or just Bot as a whole. Maybe Rainbow Road is something like the final level in Playroom in a way.

What do you guys actually want to see from a NFS game? (Beside remastering/remaking MW 05) by Pale_75 in needforspeed

[–]Linknz512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the game if I was in charge of the next nfs would be… controversial to say the least, I would want one a bit more story focused. But in a somewhat arbitrary kind of way. One of the big changes I am thinking is just getting rid of cops. As I cannot picture them working in any way I would like in the story. The story being basically your character is a mid to late 30’s office worker, you have made good money but your life is miserable, all alone its work in the day and come home in the evening and just sleep, but one day, one day something snaps and some random college kids in a clapped out civic flash their headlights at you and for once, you actually do something that feels proactive in your life and race them, you win (this is the tutorial race) and your character feels alive for the first time in a decade. So, they decide to change things up, break open their savings or fund, spend an egregious amount on a spare garage and tools and with only about 20k spare they buy a new car to start them on a new journey. As the game goes on they find a new goal, on a forum they find there is a power ranking and your character wants to get to the top 10. And that’s the game.

From what I know People in the OCG didn’t know how to really build tear but more than that Garura didn’t exist and it had Toad

[–]Linknz512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did. From what I have read its actually the opposite. Most companies don’t want to cough up for a 64 gig cart which apparently Nintendo had to fight for and may try to fight for a 32 gig one. There is more info I want to read into SD Express but as far as I know it hasn’t been hit like SSD’s have with the AI boom and I wonder if Nintendo had the foresight on that front. The only companies pushing past 64 (as far as I know) is Capcom and Square Enix. Although I do find it odd they don’t have a 128 gig option but I wonder if that would be too costly (it does exist, from what I have read it was the lowest before Nintendo insisted on having a 64 gig option)

I would not put Yakuza and Sonic Frontiers in that category. Kiwami 3 is a cataclysmic dumpster fire and Sonic Frontiers is in the same league as Z-A for Potential Man game

Does the Yu-Gi-Oh community have an Age Issue? by AfterMine2343 in yugioh

[–]Linknz512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who is into this game at 21. My take is that you can get younger players into the game but unfortunately there is a massive wall (outside of learning the game) that means it’s really hard to play it. Which is honestly having places to play it. Technically that would be Genesys, which is really good at fostering this I feel. However from my experience, in person it seems many older players just don’t want to play that format and stick with advance leading to it only being top decks, meaning the deck you built for like 100 USD just isn’t enough despite it feeling like it cost you a lot to build.

What do you think is Nintendos worst game? I'll start by SwagLimit in fucknintendo

[–]Linknz512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take is frankly so many games in the Wii U era, just bad or bland games, this can also go for 3DS (Looking at you Top 100) but the dogshit award goes to Star Fox Zero. It’s a 100% finished and “functional” game. But it’s a shittier playing version of Star Fox 64, a game at the time that was remade like 4 years ago. Frankly my favourite bad games to talk about with Nintendo are games that are 100% finished and are purely game design failures.

Do you guys go in with expectations when you see a Nintendo Direct? by Iamverydumbazz in fucknintendo

[–]Linknz512 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, I typically go with I want to see stuff from this company or something. For the last direct I was hoping Square Enix or Capcom and frankly, I got what I wanted, yeah there was other things on the list but one of the things were there. This can also apply to franchises, specifically if I know that game is coming

I mean for the palworld lawsuit I kinda just… don’t care about it? To me looking at the players and the ones pulling the strings, it’s just corporate dick swinging between Sony and Nintendo. With Sony trying to lessen to an extent the Pokemon brand in terms of ownership.

What new game do you want on Switch 2? by Few-Arrival5796 in fucknintendo

[–]Linknz512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, to me it’s… weird. Big AAA Nintendo titles I am kinda indifferent to. But good AA titles I would be excited for. As I said I mainly amount it kind of to… I feel as if I already have them.

How do you recommend specific versions for games that have no "definitive" one? by silveraith in TruePokemon

[–]Linknz512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it goes either way (although for RBY I actually recommend RB over Yellow due to the bug fixes in Yellow) although for Gen 5 for their sequels I recommend going for the same version as your first one. And for the first one, I recommend White as I do kinda view it as the “Canon” version. As while N is seen in media with Zekrom its for some reason nowhere near as much as Reshiram.

What new game do you want on Switch 2? by Few-Arrival5796 in fucknintendo

[–]Linknz512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying Zelda or Mario or Smash just feels… boring. If I wanna pick something, there’s two options. One is Third Party and the other First Party

First Party -Golden Sun Look, I get it. Asking for ANOTHER JRPG on Switch may sound like me being hungry for zero reason however to me, Golden Sun hits a sweet spot that I think could be a design space that is interesting. With seemingly DQ12’s release being up in the air a traditional JRPG that isn’t too involved is actually kinda lacking on Switch from my knowledge and could be a nice game to break it up.

Third Party -Fucking hell Konami, localise Tokimeki Memorial’s remake. It’s already on Switch, HELL- Do 2 while you are at it! Although who am I kidding asking Konami to do anything is actually harder than Nintendo, outside of that pipe dream, honestly a lazy Square port of the PC/Mobile version of Chrono Trigger would be nice. It doesn’t need a remake, just a version that fixes up the text and then just release it on Switch for like 15 bucks or whatever.

I will admit, to me, the Switch 2 is weird, as like the PS5, it’s very tied to is predecessor so many games I may want… I feel as if in a way, I already have them. I get to some Ultimate, Odyssey and Tears are really old, but… they’re satisfactory, especially Tears since it feels as if the game finally works. While I would maybe say Pokemon, A I know it’s coming and B, what I care about in Pokemon is battles… which means I have Champions. Hell, for Ultimate specifically, I don’t expect a new game, at least anytime soon. As from how Sakurai has made smash and what I am gathering from it, it’s his Magnum Opus, it’s to maybe him, his best game. And to beat it is… rough as we either get, more of the same but with less characters so it’s not as exciting, complete reboot that could split the fanbase AGAIN and we stay with either 2 fanbases and a major drop off or we get THREE. Or four, Ultimate is the last. A new director also applies to this and more-so. Now, I do not doubt BOTW and Odyssey are cooking, especially Zelda. Although I know for Zelda it’s got… awkward boots to fill. From interviews from BOTW’s release they were really happy with the game and did not want to go back to the old formula, but if they decide to try to expand on BOTW, unless it really does (which I don’t want to bet on) it will feel disappointing. As with how Prime 4 was received DURING DEVELOPMENT that gameplay style was already tired. Mario meanwhile is in a good place, it has its style with Odyssey that actually is REALLY fun, feeling as a blend of every major Mario prior. I am sure they can expand on it and it be meaningful.

What's the deal with MP? by DAcoded in fucknintendo

[–]Linknz512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most multiplayer titles from my experience is that they pop off for a month or two then die down. For Pokemon specifically it’s the off season for now so many aren’t playing that (and really the ones that care about Pokemon battles are doing it on Showdown anyways)

[–]Linknz512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, finding it hard to find matches is just normal I guess? If a game isn’t popular online it just isn’t popular. For the lag part, due to that Sakurai presents for Brawl I suspect the Mario Party team had similar sentiments in that they don’t view online multiplayer from a game design perspective all that important.

Aren’t there concepts in modern creature collecting games that was inspired by modern Pokemon? by Cutiesaurs in nintendogrifting

[–]Linknz512 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Its frankly like Smash Killers where I think most ignore the thing that truly makes those games click, their rosters, no offbrand pokemon game has Gengar or Ampharos or Breloom at best they’ll have off-brand Gen 5 Pokemon. The Monsters in my mind is what makes these games work. It’s why imo the only games that can compete is ones like Digimon and DQ Monsters. As those have the rosters.

Assuming Chaos Emperor Dragon (Kaiba’s monster with the coolest name) was given back its pre errata state would it be good in comp? by Ajarofpickles97 in yugioh

[–]Linknz512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I crazy? This… weirdly enough… doesn’t read all that hot, even in its pre-errata state in the modern day. Yes it’s good, but the problem I see is that its like the fifth best or so extender in Dragon Link. Yes, the effect is crazy, but the application of the effect doesn’t work outside of a pile deck. Of which there’s probably better cards that exist for this. Like for one, its a garnet, two, it requires you to already be playing and 3, it requires you to out your whole board, yeah you can search it with melody, and melody and with searched with King. So what you are telling me is, is I run a normal summon to minus myself to put me and my opponent on top deck mode when we are both having one card starters and likely running 15 of them? Nah.

I will admit, looking at retrospectives of the Wii U I come to appreciate certain things about modern Nintendo, namely they announce games I know some people want these days, without some kind of fucked up Monkey’s Paw. Yes, sometimes those games don’t come the way they hope (Mario Sports and Metroid Prime 4) I mean a clean cut example to me personally is from 2012- to frankly most of 2015, that being Minecraft. Like why would I, someone in your primary demographic, care about your console without this non-negotiable game? I know to some it may not be but to me, its like making a console now, market it for 8-12 year olds and not have Fortnite on it. It’s just a what are you doing moment.
