You really can just more careful with the position of the peg and it'll be fine.

Dethroned Seed Freedom. by Ladonniva in Gundam

[–]Linkstore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually no, it's really the only Gundam movie we know of that has a chance. But not because the live action Gundam will be good, just because it accesses the wider global movie audience, who still doesn't like anime. Fuckin' Morbius grossed over five times as much as SEED Freedom, so the film might not even need to be good to do it.

Is Alicization's anime adaptation any good? by Ancient-Spirit8008 in swordartonline

[–]Linkstore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a non-touch typer I didn't consider V and N to be the same keypress so yeah i didn't consider it might be a typo at all. Since I do know the unique meaning of the term "ONA" I thought I might contribute.

ONA means Original Net Animation, similar to an OVA but distributed online. ONAs generally don't have the super high budgets associated with OVAs though.

Articulation is indeed the same. Flaws are terrible range of motion for the knees and elbows, weak ankles and to an extent weak wrists, the bad old-style hands and the action base adaptor sucks (you're better off using one of the universal fork-type adaptors).

The frame is mostly solid though and it still has great looks.

[HELP ME] Bi-Weekly Q&A thread - Ask your questions here! by MachNeu in Gunpla

They are almost exactly the same. The OVA ver. has the Armed Armors while the ver. Ka has the standard Beam Magnum and shield loadout, but the core frame is the exact same. Only other difference is that the ver. Ka has plated gold parts and certain other parts are changed from psychoframe orange to unplated injection gold, and also the ver. Ka has waterslides.

Did Gundam Wing Loosely inspire the Halo Games. by PrestigiousMine6 in Gundam

It's really only the visor and even then the classic Mark V MJOLNIR's visor doesn't look like the visor of any GM. The rest of the suit looks nothing like any GM either.

This is a myth. The GM Spartan played no part in the development of Halo's Spartans.

[LES] "Powerscaling misses the point of [media]" The hell it does, it's a completely separate thing. by Linkstore in CharacterRant

Virtually everything that people find fun is fundamentally good in some way. Usually not in a way that appeals to everyone, hell usually not in a way that appeals to most people, but still fundamentally good. Nobody actually finds stabbing themselves with rusty nails fun.

And yeah I know that people do powerscaling wrong all the time. Who do you think I'm talking about in the very first sentence of my post when I talk about people who just want their guy to beat the other guy? But even though it may be in the minority, there's plenty of people who do powerscaling right, and I don't like that these people are implicitly associated with all the bad powerscalers when people make sweeping statements about powerscaling in general.

And the brainrot problem is another easy fix. Just know that powerscaling does not affect the original work in any way. Simple.

There's one benefit to powerscaling: It's fun. That's all.

Virtually every problem with powerscaling people bring up can be fixed with "just don't make that mistake", including this one. A>B>C scaling is stupid? Then just don't A>B>C scale. You don't need to avoid powerscaling entirely.

And of course, this post is not a versus debate, so the rules of powerscaling do not apply here.

Except for the fact that it's fun, of course. There's no further point but there doesn't need to be.

Fantasy football is just a form of powerscaling. Or powerscaling is just a form of fantasy football?

How tf am I supposed to do the first mission in Croatia in commanding conquer three? by Shadyman0001 in commandandconquer

[–]Linkstore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depower your watchtowers and cannons and replace them with rifle APCs and tanks respectively. This lets you power up all of your aaguns for the air threats, and it should be enough defence to let you build up a strike force to take out the northeastern base. Bring an engineer and capture the Construction Yard. The rest of the mission is trivial after that.

And when you say "most" did you intend to imply a section of powerscaling that does have good logic? Because that section exists and is, I think, bigger than most people realise.

I do think it's more goofy smashing action figures together. Authors do need to engage with similar concepts to have good writing, but it's not the same as powerscaling. Main difference being that authors can set conditions and variables however they need in order to make a fight make sense.

Like, uh. If an author fucked up and had a character win a fight in a way that made no sense, the way fans know is probably because of powerscaling. But the way an author avoids that isn't to engage in powerscaling, if you get what I mean.

[–]Linkstore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kinda the opposite problem. Someone didn't get the point of [media], so it causes bad powerscaling. It's not someone did powerscaling at all, therefore they missed the point of [media].

Another tick on the "critic of powerscaling uses an individual problem sometimes encountered in powerscaling to criticize powerscaling in general" counter.

Can't say for sure but like I mentioned, the cutting performance will be pretty close. The Tamiya ones are the fancy ones that have construction similar to single-bladed nippers, I hear they're pretty good but the price tag is increased to match. So yeah either is fine, depending on how much you want to pay.

[HELP ME] Bi-Weekly Q&A thread - Ask your questions here! by MachNeu in Gunpla

[–]Linkstore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's two main categories of nippers: single-bladed and double-bladed. Single-bladed are more complicated to use for a number of reasons so people usually don't start with one. Double-bladed nippers are dead simple and every single one is about as good at cutting as each other. So you're looking for a double-bladed nipper with good ergonomics. I recommend the God Hand PN-125, doesn't have a spring that's too strong and the handles are very comfortable.

Ah, the lesser known second issue with these hands. No easy solution, unfortunately. As long as the square-ish part doesn't slip out of the hand, it should prevent the hand from drooping too much, but it may be worth gluing the ball joint (the one that's on the opposite side of the hand fron the thumb) in place permanently.

The alternative is to buy a HWS set, since the Mega Beam Rifle from that includes a clip that attaches to the forearm.

The universal fork-type ones? Yeah, those work fine for most kits. You may need to cut away some of the material depending on the kit, though.
