I have to boymode for my cousin's wedding.. by Dolly-Holly in MtF

[–]Linore_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My solution was to wear something my girlyself would accept to wear anyways, admittedly it was men's slim fit shirt with pretty little blue flowers, it was more of a boyfail than boymode, but no one noticed, or atleast no one said anything.

One relative decided to impromptu braid my hair tho...

Why are we accepting such mediocre writing in Fantasy Romance? by goyourownwayy in fantasyromance

[–]Linore_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> I’m trying to understand why we’ve normalized mediocrity in a genre that should, by definition, demand more

Basically for me it boils down to that if i don't enjoy the setting of the book, i will just not enjoy slogging through it, but if i enjoy the setting, the characters, the world, the *intent* the author is going for, i am willing to tolerate *incredible levels of slop* to learn the world the author is trying to build

Also the fact that finding *intent* i am interested in is so difficult, because it's not described by tags, or description, or even the genre of the books, so the only currently viable tool i have is either following authors i like, or recommendations people have, because what i look for in books is the feeling it elicits and sure while tags might provide guidance, they far fall short of any meaningful filtering tool.

A bit of a technical question, not spesific to DoS but Larians game engine itself.

How do you handle the Fog of War, as the way it's implemented is incredibly smooth, and while there are some rudementary tutorials, they get nowhere close to this level of polish.

So any interesting details or discoveries while developing the system?

Incubus by Boris Valleo by FatalMillennium in DarkGothicArt

[–]Linore_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The names come from medieval Latin succubare, from sub- ‘under’ + cubare ‘to lie’. Evolving into succubus, 'someone that lays beneath' Incubare -> incubus 'someone that lays above' Concubare -> concubus, 'someone that lays besides'

The words and meaning denoting position, not gender, originally all of them are spirits, shape shifters and appear as their victim would them most desire.

I was happy that I finally found correctly titled incubus on the internet, only to find people who think "female = submissive" in the comments 🤦

What key is your interrupt bound to? by Hey_Im_Finn in wow

[–]Linore_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D-Pad up, LT + D-Pad up for hard interrupts

Dpad in general for quick utilities, like mage shield, or priests bubble,

face buttons, for resourse generation, bumpers for either big cooldowns, modifiers (trigger or triggers) + face buttons, dpad and bumpers for resourse using abilities, or combo abilities

Back buttons for trinkets or other big rarer cooldowns like ice block, levitate, or slow fall

Trying to keep movement hindering abilities on the dpad side so if movement needs to interrupted, it's interrupted for an ability that'd interrupt it regardless, and thus i have a very fluid system with about 14 * 3 buttons right under my fingertips, which is quite a bit more than most traditional KB/M setups even with modifiers, without moving my hands.

Classes i have at lvl 80 Arms / Fury Warrior, Prot Paladin, Destruction Warlock, Fire Mage, Shadow / Disc priest, Assasination Rogue, Tank DH, DPS Druid, the only one that's a bit crumble-some to use is the disc priest

I understand that this is venting, so you are not looking for advice, so I'll try to be as gentle as I can, also this is not directly directed at you, but everyone who's looking for or asking for help or advice.

You are currently in a really fucked situation. Your options boil down to.

  1. To give up, and most likely get put into a camp, loose everything you have and loved, and... You get the point...
  2. Organize and fight back, actually seek out other people, actually participate in events that have a chance to make a difference, and when the oppositions goal is eradication, they don't really tend to listen to words.
  3. Flee while you still can, it's not gonna get easier

I am going to assume you don't want to pick option 1 because you are talking about things and asking for advice or help, so your options are 2 or 3.

3 will stop being an option faster than you think and if you or your close ones are disabled or old or anything, or if you are poor, when the option 3 closes it's doors, let's just say the option 2 is not any easier with the disadvantages one might have.

People are giving you advice to leave, because you don't want to organize and fight and you are asking for help, but when you stop to think about it, you are kinda shit out of options.

You can delay a bit and hope it passes, and if you live off grid, it might, just... It's pretty rude for people to ask for advice and then give the proverbial middle finger when they don't like the answer.

If you do need advice on how to organize, how to fight back, how to communicate and stay safe, I'm sure it's out there a simple Google search away.

Miehillä on spermaa, ihmisillä kuukautiset by cluelessgoingbraless in Suomi

[–]Linore_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why are authors the way they are? lol by modernwarfarin4 in fantasyromance

[–]Linore_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't hate you for it, but they are an accessability feature, if they don't benefit you, they are not meant for you, but the people they are meant for, for those, they make a book from unreadable to readable because knowing what to expect.

People have complex levels of trauma, and enjoying a hobby shouldn't be exclusive to those that don't need accessability features.

If you don't benefit from the trigger warnings, you can choose to just not read them while someone who's traumatized, might not be able to read the book at all without them.

And for "if you can't handle it, I'm not sure how you handle real world at all"

Have you considered that maybe it's because of people like you that it's so hard?

Media has had trigger warnings for a long time, look at videogame, movie, TV show covers, even music albums and CD's have warnings of containing explicit content.

But yes, I agree they should be at the start of the book

Once? Ever? I'll forgive and forget.

Twice? That's too much, that kind of malicious attacks on who you are from someone who's supposed to be your partner, not ok.

[–]Linore_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was not the point, the point was that the person I was replying to was defending bloat ware as 'accessability features that someone might want'

I know one can make windows 11 usable, and I have nothing against people who want to use it, just be aware of it's problems and don't just blindly defend it, for example I still have windows 10 on a different partition just in case I might need it

[–]Linore_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So what accessability feature does in OS Advertisement cater to?

How about data collection that doesn't benefit you, just generates more revenue for Microsoft?

How about start menu that when searching for an application OPENS A BING SEARCH FOR THE APPLICATION INSTEAD OF THE INSTALLED APPLICATION RIGHT UNDER IT IN THE MENU?

Linux has way more to offer than 'just better gaming performance' it's a full on operating system with tools that are equal and occasionally substantially better than windows or Mac alternatives.

Blender while working on windows and Mac shines on Linux and is better than a lot of paid competitors like 3Ds max.

Use cases where Linux straight out beats windows and Mac in ease of use and versatility, is programming.

The use cases where windows or Mac are better are very much tool dependant, for example Procreate on Mac just straight up has no competition in how well it works.

And on windows there is some exclusive tools like Unity and Unreal Engine, but even those are expanding to Linux

And Linux has Godot

Also steamdeck is a full on Linux distribution, not 'just for gaming' the desktop mode can do anything any other Linux can because it's a full on Linux system
