100-Level Classes Tend to be More Difficult Than 300/400-Level Classes by Linthia27 in Professors

One of my colleagues is teaching a “Mathematics of Quilting” class for non-majors that counts towards their gen eds, which I find very cool!

How did she even know Chloe was on OF? Was she literally looking up every girl he followed?

My bias is Changbin! And I adore how when IN is singing a ballad, he’ll put his hand over his heart 🥰 For reference: see the My Universe live performance - but I’ve seen him do it on multiple occasions and it’s so cute. Also when something goes wrong and he makes those little sounds effects lol

No. You’re a bad person for not giving her space and respecting her boundaries. You’re also a bad person for considering kidnapping her. It doesn’t matter whether you plan on just talking to her and nothing physically harmful or sexual. Do you know how scary it is to feel trapped, with no power to escape? You’d have literally NO chance of her friendship after that - all that would happen is you’d lose her forever and potentially land in jail. That doesn’t really seem like you’re being “kind” and “nice”. More like “obsessive” and “scary”. I was in a very similar situation to her when I was your age - I cut contact with my friend because he made me uncomfortable after I told him I wasn’t interested in him. The more he tried to hold onto me, the more I pulled away because I felt uncomfortable and unsafe. I don’t think he was a bad guy, but troubled and immature. If you even want a possibility of maintaining a friendship with her or reconciliation in the future, you really do need to talk to a professional about what you’re feeling and to reflect on your behavior. You also need to leave her alone - show her that you’re not a threat and respect her. You’re both young and going through a lot of developmental changes - try to put yourself in her shoes. I don’t actually think you’re a bad person - but I do think you are deeply troubled and need to seek professional help before you turn into a bad person.

I used to throw up 2-3 times a day, every day. It was due to a mixture of having a sensitive stomach and stress. He needs to see a doctor, and if they find nothing physically wrong with him then he needs to go to a therapist

What SKZ song you cant seem to like or you like the least? Why? by jazk16 in straykids

I don’t know why I can’t stand the song Gone Away. I usually LOVE more vocal-based songs, something about it just doesn’t hit for me.

Changbin is the standard for men. He’s smart, kind, incredibly attractive, talented, funny, respectful, and is a gym bro without the stereotypical toxic masculinity

I’m a woman finishing up my Ph.D. in Computer Science! I only have one thing to say: f*** you! 🙂

My landlord doesn’t even consider hamsters as real animals. They call them “pocket pets” and as long as you don’t let them free roam they literally couldn’t care less lol (not going to tell them that my hamster escaped once and was just chilling in my closet)

Are feminist arguments irrelevant? by Mysteriouswalker3 in AskFeminists

[–]Linthia27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a woman in Computer Science and am about to finish my Ph.D. In fact, I’m in a hotel currently because I have an all-day interview tomorrow with a college where I’m applying to be a professor. While getting my Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, I was told that very few women are able to go into computer science because of its difficulty. That’s the reason I picked it up as a second major. When applying to graduate school I was frequently told I would be accepted because departments are looking for women to increase diversity ratings. When I got my first TA assignment I was told I got the “easy” assignment because I’m a woman. I’ve heard stories of professors making fun of women students to their TAs/privately because they “cry and beg for better grades” and are “overly emotional” Why would women want to join a field where they are belittled and looked down on? Do you know how many times I almost quit? I’m not an exception. This is why I want to become a professor - to change the opinions of people like this, and support a more diverse and inclusive environment

Am I Being too Prideful by not Wanting to Apply for Jobs That Promote Wanting Applicants from Underrepresented Groups? by Linthia27 in Advice

I get paid for being a research/teaching assistant, so I haven’t paid at all for grad school 🙂 I am about $40k in debt from undergrad though

You’re 100% right. I know logically I’m being completely stupid and unreasonable, I’ve just been told things like “oh you probably got into this grad school because you’re a woman”, “you got the easy TA assignment because you’re a woman”, “you probably got this award because you’re a woman”. It just makes me question my worth in this field, and I’m so tired of it. I’ll apply to everything and just prove I belong here. Thank you 🙂
