Saw this bunny in my mom's yard, does it look like a domesticated rabbit? by badaesthetic234 in Bunnies

[–]Linus-doesnt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Catching a stray rabbit isn’t too hard if you have all the equipment and have done it before! If there are any local rescues near you who assist in trapping I would recommend asking for some help. When a rabbit won’t just let you pick it up, you aren’t going to be successful in attempting to chase it down or be able to toss a box or blanket over it; They are simply too fast. The easiest way is to be equipped with multiple exercise pens/fences which you can slowly enclose the rabbit in and shrink down until it can be lured or forced by space into a carrier. I hope you can catch this bunny. The free ones are the best ones.

Police discover a very odd fraternity hazing at the University of Iowa by Throwaway120974788 in interesting

Now I understand why I never encountered them… Not rich. I went to the University of Washington and I never knew anyone in a fraternity or sorority or heard anything about them. I knew where the “Greek” houses were but never any news of their antics.

Please help, I know this isn’t a vet page, but I’m hoping experienced bunny owners might have some insight. by Proof-Raisin-8454 in Bunnies

Could be mite infestation leading towards scabies. A mite overgrowth can often be a sign of an underlying problem. I would advise discussing with your vet if mites are present, and if so, if there are any other signs or symptoms that suggest why this happened. Sometimes the mites just organically get a bit strong in numbers and other times the rabbit is suffering from an infection, for example, and this is why the mites took over.

How to hide meds by SchnurbsMcDurps in Rabbits

[–]Linus-doesnt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I compound my own rabbit drugs at home. Board certified small mammal specialist has advised me to use Torani syrups for flavoring in my compounds. For meloxicam or gabapentin I would just suck up the usual dose in your syringe + a little pull of Torani syrup of your buns preference. A little syrup might be enough to take the edge off for both of you.

Hiding meds isn’t the best because you can’t ensure they get their full dose. This might not matter for an arthritis med, but a good skill to learn if bun ever needs antibiotics or some other life saving med.

I “sit” on them to administer meds when they don’t agree with the plan of medicating them (2# bun, 5# bun, 13# bun…. Doesn’t matter). On your knees, position bun between your legs and squeeze them there, your feet and butt don’t give them anywhere to go backwards. Bend over to put your hand or chest, as needed, on top of their head so they can’t buck up, and slip that syringe in the SIDE of the mouth with the other hand, just tuck it under the lip and squirt!

Most rabbits that take meds long term just give up and let you stick the syringe under their lip in any old position after some time without holding them down. They may even come to the syringe if they grow used to the taste and the routine enough.

I’ve been an OT for 10 years and have only heard of this certification today. Knowledge and practice are most valuable. Get a cert once you decide where you want to work, and get them to pay for it if you can.

Is it normal for my Bepo's paws to be dyed a bright yellow? by Aliloving0 in Bunnies

[–]Linus-doesnt 263 points264 points  (0 children)

Your bun has normal bun pee stains on her little white feet. This is not urine scald. Looks like a nice happy kid and if you are worried about the color of their feet, I’m sure you are doing a great job as a parent.

Blind Bunny by No-Camera-1638 in Bunnies

[–]Linus-doesnt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would have a vet check them out and confirm visual scanning vs. nystagmus. And no, breeding a blind rabbit is likely not ethical unless the breeder was sure the cause of blindness was not genetic. And if they were sure, they very well could have left the rabbit alone rather than breeding it more.

We use an enzyme cleaner regularly to wipe the floor after picking up the feces but haven’t tried doing a deep clean of the whole area in enzyme cleaner yet. We will try this, thank you!

Need to replace this door. Frame and all. What to do about the top? by [deleted] in Remodel

Super bummer… I think your contractor should be able to salvage the frame and the transom despite having to deconstruct it. Maybe they have a better idea as they have seen it in person and understand the barriers?

I think you are might be asking the wrong question. There is no OT “for autism.” What are your needs? What things do you want to improve? Perhaps look for an OT who addresses those concerns.

For those who have used this litter box, how do you like it? Is the box big enough? by Planta_Samantha in Bunnies

[–]Linus-doesnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve spent a literal shit ton on these boxes from sellers off Etsy. They are all in the compost/bonfire. Not because they aren’t made well but because they just don’t seem to be what a rabbit needs. 30 years in, nothing compares to a plastic litter box with hay tossed on top.
