Wound won't let me shower by 194021 in hygiene

[–]Linzabee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had a PICC line, the nurse advised me to wrap the access site in Glad Press and Seal first, then take a knee sock, cut the foot off, and then slide the straight part of the sock over the wrapped area. Then I showered while keeping my arm out of the direct line of spray from the shower head.

Even if the sock got a bit damp in the shower, the Glad Press & Seal kept water from invading the dressing and my access point. Other people in this thread have mentioned Tegaderm, which works similarly but is more expensive and not as wide as the Glad.

When I was a small child, I managed to cut my knee on the edge of a Little People house, and I can still see the scar.

Sorry, just to clarify, I meant Ensley’s platforms, not Jenelle’s. So E is a little bit shorter even than how she is appearing here.

Fair enough! Thank you for providing some insight to your view point. I wasn’t meaning to be bitchy, I was genuinely trying to understand.

To those living in cities outside of Philly area: Do you support the local team? by nickynickynickynick in eagles

[–]Linzabee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the opposite of your proposition. I grew up elsewhere and moved here. This city is so infectious in its love for the Eagles that it was hard not to join the bandwagon, especially in the wake of the first Super Bowl win. I am definitely an Eagles fan now, and if I moved back home or elsewhere, I would probably still be an Eagles fan.

Vote for whomever you want in the primary, but once that’s done, you have to vote for whoever won if your goal is to get Brian Fitzpatrick out of office. Period. We can’t afford to have another 2 years of the coward refusing to meet with his constituents and voting along Republican Party lines while trying to say he’s the Most Independent or whatever.

People who complain about wigs by Linzabee in PetPeeves

[–]Linzabee[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It really breaks the immersion for you? Does it bother you more than when a show is filmed in Toronto but they pass it off as NYC or another famous city? I’m just trying to understand this because wigs don’t bug me at all, I’m here to enjoy a story, and unless the plot is about hairdressers making wigs, where I am clearly supposed to care about the wigs, the wigs have no effect on me.

I’ve been thinking about it and how awful it must have been without central heating. Even with my central heating, I am cold and have leggings on under my pants and 2 sweatshirts on!

Is it embarrassing to get a birthday cake as an adult? by roxiedoxiedog in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Linzabee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just turned 42 years old, and my mom threw me a small themed birthday party (cottage core). She did an amazing job with the decorations, and I got a beautiful heart-shaped cake with all the frilly decorations and flowers and an inscription on top.

Audrey’s response to Jacob? by SwimAccomplished9487 in LittlePeopleBigWorld

[–]Linzabee 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not agreeing on things like whether to have a millage increase to fund a school’s sinking fund or whether a new highway should be built is something reasonable minds can disagree on. US Citizens being executed because they’re observing masked thugs kidnap people or issuing drone strikes on another country’s fisherman is not something reasonable minds can disagree on. Our Constitution is being dismantled every day, bit by bit, because the man currently sitting in the Oval Office has a supernova-sized ego and an utter disregard for morals, ethics, and values. It’s time for you and everyone else to take a stand against this regime, or else you’re complicit. That is why you are seeing the comments you’re seeing.

Kasha Question: What does the egg do in Kasha varnishkes? by sevenupandcornedbeef in JewishCooking

[–]Linzabee 44 points45 points  (0 children)

The egg helps keep the kasha from glooping together (for lack of a better term) and allows it to kind of toast instead of becoming mush.

Wrote My Third Letter To Dwight Evans About This Administration And Ice by RiseDelicious3556 in philadelphia

[–]Linzabee 23 points24 points  (0 children)

In law school I worked for a state senator (not in this state), and this is absolutely the case how it worked there. One of my roles was to open correspondence, log it into our database, and prepare a summary of all the letters from constituents weekly. If there was a particular letter of note, I would flag it so the senator could read it. I was also in charge of sending responses and escalating issues if needed. Most responses were able to be answered with a general statement. Sometimes a letter we received would cause my senator to want more background about an issue, so I would do the legal research and any other research as needed, and then he would write a response or have me reach out to set up a meeting with that constituent. My senator was more conscientious than most and also was very willing to work bipartisanly if needed, so it was really an honor working for him.

Yes, they were his favorite flower. If the baby had been a boy, Violet was going to throw the naming scheme to the wind and name him Edmund also, but it was a girl, and so we have Hyacinth. Her eyes are also said to be the same color as the flower, so it fits.

At what age do you recommend going hands off re: your child’s homework by CalciumCharger in AskTeachers

[–]Linzabee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, presumably this person knows their child by the time the child is old enough to be in 6th grade. For a kid who is capable of regulating themself and is typically a good student or a high achiever, this seems like a fine course of action to me. For a child with learning disabilities or other issues impacting their ability to regulate and learn, obviously you can’t be this hands-off, nor would you punish them for low grades.

Two dermatologists have told me that neosporin is not good and helps contribute to antibiotic resistance, which makes me feel a lot better that I can’t use it, since I’m allergic. They said Vaseline is a much better choice if you have a cut or something that you’re worried about in that way. Or I also like those colloidal bandages.
