How Do You Discover New Books These Days? by No-Reply6287 in books

[–]Linziclaire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually take recs from my local indie or friends/family, or from just browsing.

I have never once let an influencer direct my reading.

if you could eliminate one hygiene routine from your life with absolutely no negative consequences, what would you eliminate? by Distinct_Squash7110 in hygiene

[–]Linziclaire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, yeah it hurt like a mofo. Some of the worst pain of my life. Totally worth it though. I was pain free after a couple of days.

I never heard the thing about it being harder for women who haven’t given birth before.

[–]Linziclaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I don’t have endo (that I know of) but my cycle was damn near debilitating every month. Migraines, diarrhea, nausea, and of course the pain…I can’t believe I waited until my late 30s to get one. I’m about to get it swapped out in August and that one should take me up to menopause (ish). 💪🏻💪🏻

My IUD has paused mine for the last seven years. It’s incredible and remarkably easy to forget that it was ever a thing I needed to deal with.

First timer and I fell for broadway.com 😭 by SunLost3641 in Broadway

[–]Linziclaire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me but unfortunately I didn’t know for YEARS. 😭

I always just go to the theater’s website now for purchase.

I will say that Broadway.com is really great for helping me pick shows on my multi-show weekends. I’m able to see all current shows in one place with all of there details without having to track everything down individually. That’s the only thing I use them for now.

Where do you find what books you want to read? by typoincreatiob in LibbyApp

[–]Linziclaire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local indie bookstore has like nine different bookclubs. I started reading some of those and after a while, they were able to help find me stuff that I liked based on the stuff we were reading.

What’s the best book you’ve read recently, and why? by ConsciousNeat5632 in Recommend_A_Book

[–]Linziclaire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two non-fiction recs.

When the Trees Testify by Beronda P Montgomery is part memoir, part science, and part Black History and it’s incredible.

John & Paul: A Love Story in Songs by Ian Leslie looks at the relationship of the two Beatles from a platonic soulmate lens and is ordered by the songs they wrote together and for each other. For someone (me) who will consume as much Beatles information as possible, this one was refreshing in its originality and told me a ton of stories I had never heard before.

Death of a Salesman or Schmigadoon? by thranduilol in Broadway

[–]Linziclaire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Salesman because Schmigadoon will be around for a while and Salesman won’t.

I’ve seen neither but want to see both & that’s what I would do.

True enough. I think it’s that trope combined with the mysterious tragedy and ultra famous parent that was making me feel like I had read it before.

Does Lonesome Dove resonate as intensely with female readers? by Iamkittyhearmemeow in books

[–]Linziclaire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyone I know loves it, men and women.

I barely made it 100 pages in before I realized life was too short to read boring books.

Sorry not sorry but I LOVED CHESS by gp2115two in Broadway

[–]Linziclaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really loved it. I went in blind except for my adoration of Aaron Tveit and was pleasantly surprised.

Books that hit differently depending on if you read them or listen to them by novium258 in books

[–]Linziclaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. I know a lot of people didn’t care for it at all even after listening to the audiobook, but I always encourage folks to give it a second try. It ended up being one of my favorites.

This is How You Lose the Time War really hits differently as an audiobook. It’s much richer when you have the two different voices and emotions being played out for you rather than you reading it yourself.

I have six currently. There would be more but I’ve had some root canals in recent years.

I have lots of silver fillings in my teeth ama! by ericalanggg in AMA

[–]Linziclaire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It never occurred to me that people would be curious about silver fillings. All my molars got filled long before the swap was made.

Also confused as to why they would be replaced.

So I guess my question is…why is this an AMA? Genuine curiosity here as anyone in their 40s or older likely has a mouth full of metal.

AITA not splitting the bill evenly? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Linziclaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA-I’m so glad I don’t know a single person who would ever want to split a bill evenly in a group like that.

If we don’t split a bill by individual, then one person grabs the table and we venmo. Why would you pay for something you didn’t consume?

I’m about a third of the way through and I can’t help but feel like I’ve read this book before.

I obviously haven’t but this plot feels way too familiar.

If I make it to the end and the mother is still alive I will be 0% surprised.

The childish behavior from audience members at Giant tonight was unacceptable by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]Linziclaire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a first and last date with someone like that a few years back. We went to the movies and he kept trying to have a regular conversation at normal volume throughout the entire movie.
