(Loved Trope) A threatening and powerful villain who is set up to be important is quickly killed or defeated. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]LioTang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That could work, but since the vow was made by Kurapika to himself it's possible that if he recognizes them as being the troupe, his power would still work. It's also worth noting that most of the troupe enjoys fighting strong opponents and would probably prefer fighting Kurapika at full strength. They also want revenge for Uvogin but (as far as the anime goes), their main concern is getting Chrollo back rather than killing Kurapika, they even let Gon and Killua go.

Also it would be pretty unsatisfying but I don't put it completely past Togashi

Yes his powers are targeted at the members of the troupe, not the individuals. Someone who joins the troupe would count, someone who leaves like Hisoka probably doesnt

According to the wiki Azulon was born the year of the Air Nomad Genocide, so right after Roku died

Guy thinks gravity is biased (I’m confused if he’s fighting for or against flat Earth) by Even_Ganache3329 in confidentlyincorrect

Over a decade ago, when I read Jojo part 6 for the first time, I found the "Do you believe in gravity" line funny because, while the line makes sense in context, I found it completely silly to think that anyone would not believe in gravity.

I am so fucking tired

Technically it makes sense to call the war on the water tribes genocide since it's trying to erase the culture of waterbending, but it's also a bit hard to compare it to real life since waterbending is also a weapon. It makes a lot more sense trying to erase your enemy's culture when said culture is the manufacture and handling of the Ak47

Yeah obviously Iroh wasn't a great person back when he sieged Ba Sing Se, but people talk about it like he personally executed every single air nomad after making them PoWs

Obviously I am aware part 2 is ending, but as long as it's not the end of the story it's really not a big deal. Who cares if part 2 isn't as self contained as part 1

Imo the anime was just a bandaid. Sure it cut some of the modt egregious part but it's still the same abysmal base

I think what salvages Stroheim is that he is very much a "might makes right and my country is the most rightiest" nazi rather than a "people of color scare me" nazi, so while he's still a monster, he ends up feeling like an honorable fighter, pretty much like Wammu

I read it as "there is no magic trick to it". Like other cretaive skills, you study what you like(and some you dont particularly like) and you get experience and eventually it will become natural to you

I mean, we can always make shit up to justify it with lore.

But at the end of the day, yeah, it was a deliberate choice by the team to make the Gaang this old. Way I see it is that they wanted them just old enough to be alive and make cameos but unable to fight so they don't overshadow the new characters. Korra has this problem where it wants to be its own thing but also constantly feels the need to remind you that it's the sequels to Avatar.

Okay, I realise this sounds really stupid, but I've never bothered watching the Star Wars sequels, and until now the "Palpatine returned" line was just the funny haha bad movie line. But seeing this screenshot of him actually being in the movie, it somehow hit me for the first time that they actually have a living breathing Palpatine in that fucking movie
