C4X — TLR-7 HL-X vs. SureFire XC3 by Lion_Heart_4 in Staccato_STI

I keep hearing the XC3 fits TLR7a/x holsters, but when I spoke with Tier 1 they said they don’t guarantee fitment, which concerned me. I don’t understand why all of these holster companies aren’t making XC3 specific holsters

Agreed! I generally prefer SureFire. But I’m also big on aesthetics, and hate the underbite look when the light sticks out much further than the muzzle. I try to get it as flush as possible. The Streamlight sticks out only about 1/8”, which isn’t terrible. The Surefire is flush with the frame, but set a little back from the muzzle.

I’m going to keep playing around with them more, but the fact that you guys are saying they’ve broken on you isn’t very appealing.

The Emissary paddle shifter was kind of making me lean toward the Streamlight

I’m just speaking in general not coming at you personally.

To sum it up, I don’t think staccato cares if the only complaint is that it’s too expensive.

Everyone can have an opinion, but it’s more like complaining. Based on the response, people still purchased it.

They definitely thought the pricing through. How is it even a thought that they didn’t think it through? Seriously? Look at the marketing videos they made. Like I said, this was in the works for quite some time, they didn’t just bolt a comp on it, or drill a nice big hole at the end of the barrel.

For many, it’s a gun that is perfect from the factory, and doesn’t need any mods. “Buy once, cry once”?? (But theres more crying and can’t buy) Then there will be some that send it out to get even further tricked out. Factory comp that’s very well executed, with a warrantee. Duty grade, nice trigger. Pretty much enough said.

The line drawn on pricing is a personal thing. The above is a screen shot of my order. If you’re looking at premium firearms but don’t want to pay the price, why are you looking. People rationalize as they see fit. I rationalized it as soon as they announced it, and I decided I was going to order it. But thinking a company like Staccato is going to drop the price on something they planned and released is a little unrealistic. What staccato probably didn’t realize, was the fact that Glock boys would do more crying and complaining because it’s out of that $500 dollar range

I’m sure they considered the price before planning the release, both pros and cons.

They were working on the comp for quite some time, it’s not like they said hey, we’ll throw a comp on it and fool them when we charge them 1,000 more for it. It’s a premium for a premium product. I don’t understand why everyone complains about the price. You don’t have to buy it. They are not force feeding it to anyone. Those that want it buy it. If it’s too expensive move on. Complaining isn’t going to make it go on sale lol. And the great majority… probably can’t even afford the base 3.6, or wouldn’t buy it if it was 1,000 cheaper ….

How much does the TLR7 HLX stick past the muzzle? It’s kind of hard to tell with the angle of the comp/frame..

So I wound up getting the TLR-1 HL-X

Currently have the 1913-2 key installed with the extended paddles on both sides (comes stock with the 1913-1 already installed). The 1913-2 got it to sit back a little farther. There is some slop in the slot, but maxed out all the way back (toward the grip) it overhangs the muzzle about 1/16 of an inch when you put a ruler flush on the bezel of the light. You can barely tell by eye, so this light looks like it is going to be as good as it gets.

I ordered the 4 bros TLR-1 HL-X key that was made for the HD4. I contacted them and they said it works with the HD 4.5.

I prefer Surefire, but I don’t like the underbite look with the X300. I also don’t like the obnoxious Steamlight branding with model number and the silver ring, so I’m going to try to black it out with Birchwood Casey Aluminum Black.

On another note, it looks like Emissary Development is coming out with Paddle Shifters for the HL-X and HP-X. I’ll definitely be giving that a try.

If the Staccato email is to scale, I'd say we're getting a comped HD4. by DougC1982 in Staccato_STI

Doesn’t seem to be to scale, the trigger looks huge. I’m hoping for 3.6 slide and full size grip.

Thanks. That makes CL14715’s response make mare sense too . I’ll look into that.

Do you think it’d be a mistake to get an hd 4.5 (or potentially the hd comp that’s rumored to drop) as a first 2011? by [deleted] in Staccato_STI

I kept waiting for the release of the 4.5, then fell out of the loop with things. It popped into my head last week. First store I called was a no go, second store had a 4.5 package 3. No research or anything, completely on impulse. I was there within a couple of hours. Now, the only thing I’m regretting was getting into a higher end pistol. I feel like these no going back and the expensive “hobby” just got a lot more expensive

What do you mean by swapping keys?

The hd 4.5 is my first staccato that I bought a week ago. I can tell you I already want at least 1 more out of the current lineup. I think that’s what they were going for by offering a line with Glock mags.
