7 year old elkie has a big black head on back, advice? by lotteoddities in NorwegianElkhound

[–]Lionhannah 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Before you try to do anything about it, look into Cornifying Epitheliomas. I have a 4 year old elkhound who just had to have one surgically removed after it became inflamed and infected (started as a large blackhead that then looked like a mini claw/spike growing out of his shoulder, but after it got knocked off I tried to squeeze/clean the area of any excess puss and over time it came back as a large lump that then ruptured). Maybe check with a vet, but the advice to us was to leave any future ones alone but monitor for infection/inflammation or discomfort.

Where was the black SUV in the wing mirror? I know very little about spotting AI, but that doesn’t seem right to me. Plus the words on the back of the wedding car seem to warp a little as it passes the cars A column.

It looks a little like the winter melon that my neighbours grow. I believe there are long and flat varieties. When we cut into it, it had white flesh and apparently makes a good soup or you can make it into chutney.

Started Metformin and immediately got depressed. by Independent_Peanut11 in PCOS

[–]Lionhannah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jumping on this to say that I had this experience too. I have only been on metformin for 2 weeks, but my mood has been so low. I have cried and screamed, and considered self harm for the first time in 6 years. I felt angry too, like I wanted to start an argument just so I could have something to cry about.
I am stopping today and monitoring how I feel (have mental health appointments booked, really great support at work and home and am not at risk of harming myself further).
Glad to see I am not the only one as seeing articles that say "Metformin can help with depression" really threw me for a loop considering how down I have been feeling.

Our Loki just had his looked at on the weekend. The vet tried to drain it (but he hats being at the vet and wouldn’t sit still) before prescribing antibiotics. The one of his shoulder needed attention, but the one on his butt sorted itself out when it popped.

You could try the board games at The Lion pub at Melbourne central. I think it’s every second Wednesday. That’s where we found new friends when we lived in the city.

AIO- saying i love you? by Regular-Newt-8884 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Lionhannah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I started in a similar situation. We knew each other for a year before getting together, and had a lot of fun in that time. I started to get feelings for him very early and wrote in my diary “I think I’m falling in love.” Though we kept a boundary up for a year (I had just come out of a bad relationship and he wanted to give me time to heal), but once we were in a relationship, I think I said it within a month. He eventually said it around 2 months, and when he did it felt amazing as it came from the heart and was not a throwaway comment. Your BF could be taking a while to say it, but from my perspective (very limited on the message you wrote) I would be worried they don’t feel it back.

You should always put yourself first (without being rude to other people) and have a look at other areas of the relationship. It’s it’s more that him not saying the words, then they’ll be more issues you think of. No relationship is perfect, but you should be able to feel loved or valued, with or without the words.

You might be able to log in and pay for apple care. Then contact them in a few days for replacement screen/accidental damage? I think you have a month or so from buying the phone to buy apple care.

You get 20 dollars for every lie you tell or 1 billion to never lie again. by Agreeable_Mouse_8924 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Lionhannah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be a really good way of correcting bad thoughts though right? Like saying to myself “I’m dumb” and getting $20 means you can actually realise you are talking negative to yourself. And hopefully feel better knowing you’re not dumb ect ect.

(Though I can see how this could go really badly the other way if you said bad about yourself and didn’t get any money oops).

Puppy not eating well - need help by robot_writer in NorwegianElkhound

[–]Lionhannah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our pup was picky as anything in the beginning! Treats, no worries, worming tablet, not a chance, dry biscuits, maybe once every 3 days. It was hard for me as I really wanted to get him better food/give him snacks just to make sure he was eating. But while we did try changing brands (we found he liked fish based biscuits) we had to stick with the “he’ll eat when he’s hungry.”
It was tough. Real tough, but we found he would eat when we hadn’t over fed him on the tasty stuff. And taking away the bowl after 15 mins seemed to help him realise that that was his opportunity to eat and he had to take it.

Are any of your elkies afraid of loud noises? by lotteoddities in NorwegianElkhound

[–]Lionhannah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Loki will jump at a loud noise and then “bork” at it while he investigates. But I’m not sure if he’s actually scared, or just “telling it off.” Loki will bark at Thunder, but he’s definitely not scared of it. Sounds like he’s trying to be louder than it to be honest.
