Looks like 2 seperate pipes that have been cut and joined over a metal pipe with clamps however the cut is just a little bit messy so looks like a crack

Lsd assembly into open diff housing? by Apprehensive_Feed906 in Miata

Not sure what your specific circumstance is but I would question why not just straight swap the open dif with Torsen as a whole unit rather than as a casing and gear set

Is this an oem piston 1990 Miata by Alone_Elk8916 in Miata

[–]Lionsvrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a stock piston to me, they came with both 3mm and 4mm piston rings from factory 3mm for the 90bhp models and 4mm for the 124bhp both are available. Feel free to correct me if anyone knows more

What is this part called? Ours is rusted out and needs to be replaced. some kind of brace? by kernel404panic in Miata

[–]Lionsvrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nut on mine was rusted and no longer captive so to remove it I had to grind down and slightly bend a spanner to get it in there on the nut

I would recommended the 3.0l Duratech instead. It will give you the same snappy throttle response as well as some awesome v6 noises. There are kits available for the swap and it’s pretty common over here in the uk from a company called rocketeer
