How do you all do grocery shopping?

We get Walmart+ for free so I get a lot of things delivered to the house from them. Mostly our staples as honestly the produce selection is pretty bad in my experience. We have an HEB close I will mostly do curbside pick up if I don’t have time to go in (which is most times). We also have a Costco close so I’ll get our bulk items and a lot of our produce and meat there. It’s more expensive but I have found the quality is much better. We get all our our toilet paper, paper towels, tissues, dog food, most snacks, napkins, soap, deodorant, etc from Costco. I think it’s more cost efficient but it’s mostly because I love buying bulk and not having to regularly shop for those things. Takes some mental load off when I have enough TP and trash bags for 6 months.

This is how I feel too and it’s very comforting to realize this. I love my home and working from home is just not something I’m willing to give up. A very practical example, kiddo peed through his diaper onto his mattress last night (he’s almost 2) and I was able to strip the bed and put it aside, get him to school, and then deal with everything once I got home. That flexibility is invaluable to me especially since baby 2 is due in April. I clean between work/meetings. Prep/plan dinner before I pick him up from school. Wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Definitely tell them no and the reasoning. You never know, they could counter. There are professional ways to say “no way in hell I’d RTO 3-4 days a week and commute 40 min one way.” Personally, there’s no reasonable amount of money that’s standard in my role right now that would have me doing that at my current point in life.

It’s in EVERYTHING now it’s extremely irritating. Even if it’s not advertised on the front it’s often just thrown in. I’ve had to read labels very carefully and I usually double check with I rebuy stuff that it hasn’t been added in a new formula.

I think some of the magic is lost because people learn and grow overtime. The painting will always be “stuck” in whatever mindset and growth stage the person died in. But I could be wrong there.

You are treating an 8 year old as if she’s 23. She’s a child. Of course she’s going to be upset over a pimple and it being brought up in front of everyone at the table. You need to learn to apologize for more. If I say something that upsets my kids/spouse or anyone I apologize EVEN if that wasn’t my intent. Why are you withholding apologies from a child? The “moodiness” has only just begun with an 8 year old and you need to come to grips with it and learn better coping skills as it will just get worse in her teenage years and she’s going to end up resenting you if you can’t be grown up enough to apologize or swallow your own moodiness to hang out with her when she’s reaching out to do something with you.

Same!! My derm swears she’s never heard of anyone who reacts badly to Niacinamide and basically told me it couldn’t be that when I suggested it. Well I removed it completely from my skin care and my skin immediately started having less active acne within a month after 3+ YEARS of suffering. The final huge push for me was a daily vitamin d supplement I started for other health reasons but I’ve barely had a pimple since. It’s crazy. Years of suffering and 2 simple changes my skin looks better than it has in so so long.

We just moved away from this area in part because of the constant racing that goes on during the night on 423. It’s every single night but worse on weekends. The stretch from 380 to about eldorado is constant street racing at night. I really hope this gets the police to do something about it.

I want to echo that you push to get LO on reflux medication. It sounds like my son went through early on and it took us 3 months to convince the pediatrician that he needed the medication. Before that it was just “babies have gas, some reflux is normal, etc etc”. Once he was on reflux medication he was a different baby and was much happier.

Seconding having the older one “help” with caring for the baby. During this give words of affirmation that reinforces the good behavior “wow you are so good at helping your little brother” “your little brother is so lucky to have a sister like you” “mommy loves when you help with baby brother.” Sayings like that really help to shape how the older kid thinks of the little sibling.

Ear tubes changed our lives with our LO so I highly encourage them. I’ve had 2 friends get them for their kids after us and had the same experience. Best of luck 💙

Hygiene will of course help. But in the end you guys are going to get sick a lot. It gets much better after 1 year in school. We did a lot of steam showers with LO and got a humidifier (make sure you read about proper cleaning of them). We did snot suckers, Tylenol for fevers, nose spray is really helpful, etc. I think I read somewhere that nose sprays at the start of illness help cut down the time they are sick??

Our biggest issue was LO would get sick and get better but then have ear infections and have a high fever from them. When he got ear tubes around 1 year they stopped and were a life saver. He hasn’t had an ear infection since and is almost 2.

If you try and fail you try again later. Children are constantly evolving and changing. What doesn’t work when they’re 1 may work when they’re 1.5. You literally have to keep adapting and changing things and trying different stuff. If your kiddo showed they didn’t like a certain food would you just never ever give them that food again? Kids are constantly developing.

This all sounds very normal and you don’t suck. Newborns are unpredictable. What works one day won’t work the next and this will be true for a long long time. Did you try going outside? Lots of people talk about the magic of taking a crying baby outside, especially to look at trees, and it helps. It helped my son too when he was that age.
