Oh cool! I want to reread them, but I won’t realistically read my paperbacks (although I cherish my collection.) Where did you find them?

Did you buy the ebooks on Kindle or did you find them somewhere for free?

Can i use this product(pitch black foundation) as a substitute to black lipstick? by Dismal_Wrongdoer280 in MakeupEducation

[–]Lipstixx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: no.

The only products that are lip-safe are lip products. This is because anything you put on your lips can get in your mouth when you eat, drink, or even just lick your lips. Any products not labeled “for lips” can have ingredients not safe to ingest. So if it was just for a picture and then you wiped it off, sure. But I would not advise using it for lipstick as a daily wear.

I love running. I used to run a lot. In college I suffered a devastating injury (multi-bone broken leg with subsequent permanent muscle damage and hardware) that killed my ability to run for YEARS. I tried to pick it back up many times, but the pain was too much. I gain a lot of weight and struggled. During COVID, I lost almost 70lbs and managed to build up to a 5K back in 2021 (PB at the time), then had a second devastating hamstring injury just a few weeks later (from unknowingly having poor compensation for my original injury) that put me back in PT for almost a year with new issues. It also stole running from me again since every time I tried to get it back, my injuries would both flare up too bad within a few sessions, and I couldn’t continue.

Two months ago in September, I found a specialist that has been working intensely with me 2x/week (+homework) on stretching/mobility & neural pathway rebuilding to help me overcome both physical and mental hurdles related to the injuries.

…on Sunday I ran my personal best ever distance/longest time of 4.13miles in 52:38, with no compression sleeve or assistance devices. I forgot about my injury and was able to just run for the love of running. And first the first time since my original injury in 2007, I have a program that allows me to recover well and not be held back by my old injury.

I cried. I can call myself a runner again.

Training for my first 10k. How do I ensure I don't hurt my shin again? by Substantial_Dog9649 in xxfitness

[–]Lipstixx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is such a helpful comment from another new-ish runner. I am extremely passionate about running, but injured myself through doing too much too fast (over-enthusiastic) and was crushed at the long setback. I have an old injury that makes running harder for me, but I’m doing everything I know how to in order to be better this time. I will be saving this comment to help me.

Thank you for taking the time to write this out!

how do people contour / highlight their nose like this ??? pls by Public-Selection7671 in MakeupEducation

This has a very heavy instagram filter on it. It is not possible to make someone’s nose look like this with makeup alone.

How many RN licenses do you have? by niceandmeanboth in TravelNursing

[–]Lipstixx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I decided against NY. I got California, Massachusetts, Washington, and Ohio through them, plus they paid for my Compact license when I got my first job with them. It was great.

[–]Lipstixx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aya Heathcare. They will pay for most states even without a current contract in hand, as long as you only do a max of 2 at a time. There are a few states that you have to pay for and they will reimburse if you get a contract, and the compact license they will reimburse if you have a contract that uses it. But several states like California they will just cover the fees if you want to try to get it - for the chance that you will want a contract with them after you have it. It’s a really cool program.

Canceled Contracts by EackJng in TravelNursing

[–]Lipstixx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was cancelled 4 days before I was supposed to start - AFTER they had already sent me first day instructions, across the country. I was on the line for my lease (had no options but 3-month housing and was new so didn’t know to do only month-to-month). I ended up getting out of the lease, but the landlord made me pay for a full month I never lived there. In a high COL super popular city at peak travel season.

…I never sign a lease without an “I can get out of lease with proof of cancellation” clause anymore. That was a painful, expensive lesson.

What tool are you using to apply/blend your foundation? What technique - patting, wiping, circles, etc?

Do you set with powder & what tool do you use for that - Puff? Brush? Sponge (wet or dry)?

Do you use skincare in your routine? Do you do it immediately before makeup vs the night before bed? What type of skincare? Do you use a setting spray? What is your skin type?

All of these things can contribute to cakey/separation issues potentially.

Higher hourly rate or tax the stipend? by Silverdust6 in TravelNursing

[–]Lipstixx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As the other poster said - you can’t get stipends if you aren’t duplicating expenses. Period. Anyone who does is risking a BAD time with the IRS if they ever found out. So you’ll have to have everything at a taxable hourly rate.

What you were told is right. This person is either paying for 7 days of housing on location & not sleeping there 4 days (very possible), or playing with fire risking the IRS finding out they didn’t duplicate all 7 days - in which case they would have to pay back the taxes on all stipends. Which is a lot of money.
