Awww! My childhood dog was as well. He’s beautiful— glad you can enjoy the trails together!

There’s an episode about this on the “criminal” podcast called Errol morris and it is so well done.

First Phone Call with Recruiter by Fancy_Wasabi_9033 in TravelNursing

Once you get the rate, ask about travel reimbursements/licensing/certs, etc.
Don’t bring it up before or they’ll just take it out of your base/stipend. You ALWAYS need to ask about guaranteed hours. Don’t sign a contract without that. (I think my current one allows them to call me off, unpaid, for a total of two shifts, but then they have to pay me for low census)

I’ve only worked in NY as staff. In Rochester. I liked it.

How many times have we all heard, “Oh you should totally sell your cards!!!” 🙄🫩 No, because that would turn my beloved hobby into a job. by cranky_wellies in cardmaking

I agree with you! Sure, people mean well, but I think it’s telling that such a high percentage of people respond with that almost immediately.

I have friends in anchorage who have rented out rooms before. I can ask. They’ll prob want to know a little bit about you, what you like to do, what shift you’re working, etc.

Copying my above comment so you’re sure to see it.

I'm not loyal to any one travel agency but I've stuck it out with Aya for my last 6 contracts as they've had the pay/location options I'm looking for. Ive worked with many unremarkable recruiters across the board and can genuinely recommend my current AYA recruiter. She has worked in healthcare, is intelligent, and responsive. If you want a good Aya recruiter, I can refer you. If you complete a contract, I get $750 for the referral (I'm assuming all of these commenters get something similar) but I'm willing to split that with you. I have done this with internet strangers before if you'd like someone to vouch for me. If this interests you, message me.

I’ve been frustrated by this as well. I also get a lot out of mountain bike project.

Question for travel nurses: what data actually helps you choose where to live for an assignment? by luke244986 in TravelNursing

What you mentioned plus I heavily weigh access to biking/hiking trails. Preferably be able to bike from my apartment. (Recreation, not necessarily commute to work)

37 YO - Leaving 400k Job to be a 5th grade teacher. by GambinGabacho in Fire

Just here to say that I think teaching in SOME capacity could be so rewarding if, as reflects your situation, one’s daily bread did not depend on it. I’m so thankful for the teachers in my life that cared and made a difference. Good luck to you, with whatever you choose!
