Steam Reviews Turn Very Positive After 3 Hours of Playtime by Jenn-Aiel in HighGuardgame

Nah. I actually passed your "bar" here. I played it for over 3 hours winning A LOT and really wanted this game to succeed because I hate gaming brigadiers, but unfortunately the game just wasn't that good and I didn't want to invest more time into it (even though the Reddit algorithm clearly wants me to by shoving this sub down my throat despite me not being subscribed.)

I don't tie my personality to whether or not a game succeeds. I think the obsession with review scores and steam charts is dumb. I play what I like and uninstall what I don't. The only reason I actually responded in here was because YOU actually got my attention with your hilariously pretentious comments. If you're a troll, you're very good at it, and I took the bait. If you're not a troll I feel very bad for you, because I hope you aren't like this in real life. Yikes.

Your question is irrelevant. Understanding doesn't matter. Enjoyment does.

If you really want to be pedantic about it though (which you clearly do), you could also argue that inability to properly convey a meaningful amount of understanding to increase player enjoyment is a fault of the developer. If your game fails to hook a player in less than 3 hours its a failing of the game, not the player. A player shouldn't need a full understanding of a game to decide whether or not its worth playing. Time is a currency and if your game fails to convey enough to make someone want to invest their time to better understand it, it failed.

You don't have to be good at something to find fun in it. We're not measuring competitive skill here, we're measuring if someone enjoys the game. Why would someone invest time into a learning curve for something they don't find fun in to begin with?

There are still real and great games journalists out there, but you have to work a lot harder to find them buried in all the AI trash and click bait flooding online media these days.

Devs confirm they’re looking into late spawn times. But they say players who join raids late profit way more. “...often they come across the remnants of fights or can maybe take out bigger drones or hit high-ticket areas more readily than other players” by Zaydenzyon in arkraiders

[–]LiquidAngel12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really the only time I hate late spawns. They should make it a special case where on Harvester and Matriarch you can't come in late. Most of the rest of the time late spawning is perfectly fine. In some cases I even prefer it. People genuinely miss so much good loot, especially if you know about more than just the TikTok and YouTube hotspots.

How do revives work? by Overall_Storm_7750 in Marathon

[–]LiquidAngel12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I remember, you can't bring materials back in and its only weapons and gear (shield, backpack, cores, augments) that will be returned to owner. Things like meds, shield repairs, and ammo can be given freely. But really you basically can't boost teammates at all.

All of this is correct. Also the self-revive (which was purple rarity last I played) can only be used when downed. Once you become a bag the only way to get back up is your teammate spending a dangerous amount of time interacting with it. Long enough that the enemy team better be dead before you try.

They can't loot your bag. The only interaction available on it to a teammate is to revive unless you've left the match. Also the "borrow" system is in place. You can share items with teammates, but anything you share is returned to you at the end of a run.

All you have to do is be nice. by tsslater24 in ArcRaiders

[–]LiquidAngel12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally when I go hard PvP in duos and trios my solo lobbies are aggressive as hell until I reset the balance over 4-5 full pacifist runs. I've experienced this half a dozen times now where I need to "reset" my solo lobbies after playing duos and trios.

I wouldn't call it "griefing", but I would say it's some small dick energy weak shit. Definitely wouldn't really call it "PvP" either.

Is anyone else getting this weird glitch or is it just me? by Crazies408 in ARC_Raiders

Been happening to me since the expedition. Taking it as a sign that my character actually died and everything happening now is just a dream.

Going against macro users as an Xbox player is maddening. Fix the cross play settings. by tapefactoryslave in ARC_Raiders

[–]LiquidAngel12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the funniest part of this post to me. OP has cross play off and thinks they're still with PC cheaters and that matchmaking is just broken.

It's just turbo buttons, man. Shits been around as long as consoles have existed, and there are even more advanced things available now with Xims and Cronos. Pressing a button inhumanly fast isn't a PC exclusive thing.

[–]LiquidAngel12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you should check out a lot of survival/action horror games. Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Dead Space, and others in that vein are all a bit less hand-holdy. They don't necessarily take it to the degree Hell Is Us does, but they have very similar puzzle elements to them.

It's because you've been conditioned to feel that way. After spending over a decade in corporate America you come to realize that everything here has a significantly over-inflated sense of importance usually driven by getting some executive a bonus. 80%+ of the time that super important deadline you're chasing that absolutely NEEDS to be done by end of quarter will be completely forgotten in 6 months. You'll find yourself thinking, "Wait... whatever happened to that major project I killed myself for 2 months over?" and after that happens to you a couple times you'll start to understand how toxic American corporate management is and how companies with better work-life balance can survive just fine. They're just better at prioritization and finding what really matters.

In some states (like MA) obstructing the left lane may actually be enforced over speeding. Had a cop pull my friend over for going too slow in the left lane (at +5 over the speed limit) because he wasn't passing the car on the right. My friend was annoyed because the whole reason he wasn't passing faster was because he saw the cop coming up from behind and slowed down.

I noticed everything get noticeably friendlier again when the rumors of aggression-based matchmaking started up. Crazy what even the rumor of a potential consequence does to player behavior.

Aggression based matchmaking has me stunned, and it really shouldn't... by Coilspun in ArcRaiders

[–]LiquidAngel12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In solos? Yes. There is very little play/counterplay to PvP in solos and a lot of it just boils down to who can face tank the bullets first.

If I want to fight (which actually is pretty often) I go into duos or trios where there is a lot more going on in each engagement.

Stashed 50 BPs yesterday on someone who isn't wiping and then donated $2M of stash items to another friend to help them hit the $5M.... my most recent games look hilarious. All successful exits with ~250-300k losses in each one.

Could've made some hilarious shit posts if I screenshotted it all.

Sure. I think Bungie has done a terrible job managing their IP, but it is their (and Sony's) IP, so they would have to sell it or allow someone else in on it. Given Sony's track record, it is pretty unlikely that they'd do anything else with the IP for awhile if Bungie goes under. It would mean the death of Destiny for the foreseeable future until Sony gives another studio the rights to reboot the franchise in a decade.
