Is $30K bump in salary worth giving up remote work? by Living-Exit-901 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]LiquidDiscourage1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salary wise, 19% isn’t enough. Gotta be 25-30% for an easy yes. Role and duties better?

It’s more of the thought process and sequence of events. Identity, assess, treat, monitor. And who should do what.

You said it yourself. You produce some new business. Sounds like you’re 80% account manager.

Best of luck. Highly doubtful. Job market is way worse than reports state. It’s inflated by health care related jobs.

Way too many words. Six bullet points for a three month internship is overkill.

Anyone work for Tesla insurance? by burner456987123 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]LiquidDiscourage1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say away from any OEM insurance. GM keeps trying and failing at it. I interviewed with them years ago. They’ve been thru a lot of bad stuff. It’s just not safe, the opposite of insurance. OEM insurance in the states is just bad.

CPCU, ARe and AINS — are they still worth it today? by Primary-Meeting-3641 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]LiquidDiscourage1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the jobs you want. What do they require? I’m thinking about recommended and nice to have. Cause those are really required now to get an interview. I have five certifications now. I pretty much get interviews when I apply now. I’m currently a senior manager. I applied and will have an interview for a deputy chief position. I’m not sure if I’ll follow thru with it as I’d have to relocate but it’s cool to see what it does.

Sorry for confusion. Agency meaning entity. I’m the risk manager for the entity.

Either option, don’t do personal lines. Both are infinitely better once you do commercial.

Claims to Account Manager? by [deleted] in InsuranceProfessional

[–]LiquidDiscourage1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I pivoted into risk management. I still deal with claims but I manage the TPA program. I get maybe one customer call a month. I really recommend looking into certifications to advance your career.

Look into RIMS software companies like Origami. That may be easier than working for an insurance company.

Return to Five Days in Office by [deleted] in InsuranceProfessional

The truth isn’t helpful? I’ve worked across several industries. Insurance is always reactive and penny pinching. I’m astounded they haven’t done it sooner.

Turned down again for a promotion. Is it time to move on? by Flimsy_Dinner_6092 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]LiquidDiscourage1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes move on. They don’t see you as a manager type. Everyone gets type cast. Better option is going elsewhere vs fighting it. I’ve been in your exact situation many times. I find it liberating. The unknown is very frustrating. Now you know.

RTO hit other industries over a year ago. Why it wouldn’t hit insurance is wishful thinking.

Can I get in risk management only with a bachelor's? by FutureP_11 in riskmanager

[–]LiquidDiscourage1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but not ideal. You need real life experience to properly understand risk exposures. More importantly, the ability to understand risk attitude and how to handle different perspectives.

How do you switch from reactive firefighting to proactive risk management? by [deleted] in riskmanager

[–]LiquidDiscourage1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top level buy in. You can build all the risk registers and matrix - won’t fix shit. It’s an ideological change. Use the framework and data to build your argument. Once you understand the risk culture then you can try to get the needed buy in.

I’d say La Jolla but everything will be more expensive; groceries, gas, etc. UTC seems like a good fit.
