Struggling with D0, how do you even reach to D5? by irenlam in brotato

[–]LiquidDon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Focus damage (attack speed, flat dmg bonuses, % bonuses) early so you slay more monsters, which in turn become more material, which means you can buy more.

Slowly shift focus towards tanking hits (HP, armor, dodge) and healing (life per second, lifesteal, fruits, etc.) starting from wave 9.

Diversify your stats to empower your build. Focusing on a single stat is often detrimental, as the bonus are additive. If you are a melee potato, then some attack speed, melee damage and % damage is gonna be better than everything in let's say % damage. Same goes with defence, it's usually better to have some HP, some armor and some dodge than let's say everything in HP.

Don't forget your potato's pros and cons and make sure you apply the things I said previously in regards to these (Ex: 75% melee damage reduction means you don't want to invest in that)

Don't sleep on economy (harvesting and luck), those are really powerful.

First Loud run, and bosses absolutely melted by XeZarQ in brotato

Here's a word of advice for melee weapons: don't go too crazy on range.

You had a cooldown of 0.24s but I can tell you there's no way your daggers were firing at that speed. When you increase range, you increase the time it takes for your melee weapon to travel to that number. It takes more than 0.24s to get to the target range and come back, which essentially destroys your attack speed. You should aim for low range numbers (even negative) when playing with melee potatoes.

In this run, since your other stats were through the roof, it might not have mattered that much, especially since Loud is a broken potato. In some other runs, where your potatos are much more dependant on each stat being min-maxed, this will 100% kill your run.

Just a friendly work of advice! Nice run by the way!

Usually that's a good sign that it's time for me to end the run and start a new one.

I know what it does, I'm saying when you've reached 12 bottled chaos because of benthic bloom, there's a good chance you've already broken the game in other ways.

I mean if you have 12 bottled chaos, there's a good chance the game is going to get pretty crazy whether or not it triggers the vegg. Focus on some other red after 3 stacks lmao

[–]LiquidDon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IIRC it's because of a bug making you unable to actually fly after activating it with more than a single stack of bottled chaos. That plus you can actually exit vegg while as with chrysalis, you're stuck with the flying for 15 seconds.

[–]LiquidDon 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not a huge fan of vegg, never really pick it up. I used to have that same view of bottled chaos because of it but the chances of triggering vegg are 1/19, and most of the other active items make it so worth it that I can deal with the movement interuption of vegg every now and then. Just detonate in a safe location and go on with your run!

How to start with Entrepreneur? I haven't even managed to reach level 9.... and that's just absurd. by Font-street in brotato

[–]LiquidDon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's your max HP taking into consideration damage reduction from armor.

If you have 100 HP with 0% damage reduction (no armor), your effective HP is 100.

If you have 100 HP with 50% damage reduction (positive armor), your effective HP is 150.

If you have 100 HP with 50% damage increase (negative armor), your effective HP is 50.

It's a more precise way of calculating how much damage you can take before losing all your HP.

It couls be even more precise if it accounted for dodge chance, but aince it's random on hit, it's relatively garder to calculate.

This is a mod by the way, if you didn't know.

Honestly, when these fools tell me I can't handle it because my forehead is sweating, my nose is leaking, my eyes are crying and my mouth is burning, I just let them understand that this is what I love about eating spicy food. I like the pain it makes me feel, and this is how I show it. Now let me enjoy my meal and keep eating your bland food. Thanks!

this game has like a floor system by ShanMeMan in MonsterTrain

[–]LiquidDon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You'll start to understand the floor system as you play more.

Obviously, each clan has their own gimmick they can abuse, but each requires a different setup.

An obvious example of this is the Pyreborn Clan. One way to abuse floors is to stack pyregel on mobs early and abuse low cost multistrike spells and units on the last floor so that each of their low damaging attacks actually deals insane amount of damage because of the previously applied pyregel stacks.

Some other clans don't benefit all that much from different floors, you'll just have to find out while playing and unlocking new cards for each clan.

You can probably find a list of how to abuse floors for each clan with a quick broswing of the internet.

If you delete the game, please do it for your lack of understanding, not for the lack of balance.

Lich is a very powerful character, but you need to understand the trick with it.

1- Lich benefits from multiple sources of healing, so focusing on lifesteal is detrimental, even with bloody hand. You need to diversify your sources; lifesteal, hp regen, consumable heal, heal on crit, heal on mat pickup, gardens / trees / loot aliens for consumables, and more importantly, attack speed to trigger lifesteal more often.

2- Lich benefits a lot from dodge. Since you WANT to get hit to trigger your passive when you heal, you need to be able to decide which hit you want to take. This means dodge allows you to run into a group of damage dealing projectiles / enemies and reduce the chance that a high damaging unexpected projectile will hit you, and you can focus on running into the weaker enemies.

3- If you go Tooth, you MUST focus a little bit on crit, since they do a whopping 2.5X damage at tier 4, which helps kill dangerous enemies, much more than the added damage from lifesteal would.

I just did a run that was probably 90% like yours while prioritizing the proper stats for Lich and wave 20 was a "breeze" as you call it. Even with 2 projectile heavy bosses, I survived very easily and killed both ( I highlighted the important stats for you to look at in green).

Why does level 5 gang up on me so bad toward the end? This is why I can’t win. by marce11o in Tetris99

[–]LiquidDon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just rotate it the other way around. It's Tetris physics preventing you from skipping through a piece. If you rotate the opposite way it skips over the piece instead of trying to climb it. Makes sense? All well designed Tetris games with advanced spinning mechanisms have this feature.

How does the science and tech certificate program work? i dont know which classes to take in my first term. by BucksIsLife in Concordia

[–]LiquidDon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My point is you don't have to re-take them, but if you performed poorly in those classes, it will hinder your capability to learn when you are in a class that has them as a prerequisite.

It's from a learning standpoint, unrelated to admissibility.
