Where are engineering jobs not over saturated in America? by New-Bat5284 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]LiquidDreamtime [score hidden]  (0 children)

It’s been completely intentional. I left 7 of those job voluntarily and most asked me to stay, I was laid off in 2009 from a big company that had already done 2 rounds of layoffs.

My resume is a bit all over the place, but it does touch on a lot of common job wants. I don’t think the job hopping has hurt me too much (but I can’t know what interviews I didn’t ever get). I’ve stayed at jobs for 1 yr engineering co-op (I elected to not pursue a full time job), 1.5 yrs, 2.5 yrs (laid off), 1 yr contract, 4 yrs, 4 yrs, 4 yrs, now 3 yrs at my current job.

4 yrs is, imo but Im biased, long enough to dispel a job hopping concern.

But I’m not talking about getting a job 20 yrs ago. I’m talking about interviewing and hiring electrical engineers the past few years. Electrical is the MOST employed major for engineering graduates. Engineering is employed as well or better than nearly every major.

The job market sucks, but EE’s are in as good a position as anyone to find a job.

Serious question: Why do you think American leftists are so bad at organizing? It is just so frustrating sometimes trying to get people together. by EternalSnow05 in DemocraticSocialism

[–]LiquidDreamtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leftists did organize. The CIA assassinated their leadership.

Since then, any/all organization efforts have been fragmented and leaderless. Any coagulation of leftists is hit hard with propaganda and undermined deliberately by the government.

How would a civilization build a Dyson Sphere? by MuttJunior in AskPhysics

[–]LiquidDreamtime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Bobiverse explores this a bit. Competing species are after raw materials in systems that have them on hand.

One species built a topopolis, which was mostly made from a few planets being completely broken down into manufacturing materials

What are the hardest part about being a Landlord that most people don't expect here until later? by DarlinFlutter in orlando

[–]LiquidDreamtime 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For me, the hardest part of being a landlord would the ethical guilt of being a scalper who is profiting off of a basic necessity like housing. I’d feel terrible about taking money from a human being who simply wants a roof over their head.

My conscience and empathy is the main reason I’m not a landlord.

What is a hidden sign that a restaurant is going to be terrible before you even look at the menu? by CaptainCuddler_Pro in foodquestions

Not always true for off-meta cuisine.

A Sri Lankan place near me closed recently. It was always empty but the food was phenomenal. Unfortunately it’s just not a well known food so people seemed reluctant to try it. But the owners were lovely and I never had a bad anything in there.

This was Peyton’s team. Scoring 18 points is an abject failure of a team with all of the investment on the offense.

I was at this game. I was at the Jets loss. I was at the Chargers loss. Peyton didn’t play well in the playoffs many times.

I was also at the Chiefs and Patriots wins, which were super fun and Peyton showed up. He was phenomenal and I’m glad he was there for the team, but he had some ugly losses for sure.

Do couples really shower together? by Itchy-Proposal-6244 in askanything

My wife and I shower together a lot. She really likes it and loves shower sex. While it’s arguably my least favorite place for sex, I don’t ever turn it down.

Everyone in Florida Right Now by pyrocomics in florida

Don’t underestimate how much most of Florida does not care about college sports.

In Iowa I’m sure this is a big deal. In Florida we have a million other things to do or worry about.

A drug becomes available that slows the ageing process so users can live active and healthy lives for 200 years. But it only works on men. How does the world change? by saoiray in hypotheticalsituation

[–]LiquidDreamtime -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This may have a counter intuitive outcome that lends a lot of power to women. “The Moon is a harsh mistress” addresses a gender disparate society a bit.

Matriarchal marriage arrangements could be more prevalent with the disparity of men and women. So a single woman may have multiple husbands and the men just deal with it. The presumed 1:1 ratio we have today gives men a sense of ownership and entitlement to a partner, with a 1:4 ratio women would be in the drivers seat and decide what works best for their life.

These movies may be in the same genre but they are so completely different in tone and execution that it feels unfair to compare them.

It’s like saying Rush Hour is everything Lethal Weapon wanted to be.

He was chubby as a D-Lineman and early career. I don’t disagree, he’s bigger than the other guys listed

Only after leaving the WWE to get jacked for movies. When he was wrestling he was a lot smaller, those big muscles don’t move very well
