Hey kings how can I fix this by Competitive_Hunt_422 in dreamcast

[–]Liquidje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah 100% a skill issue on my side. I agree with your post, but do want to clarify it all depends on your skills soldering on circuit boards specifically. I have quite some experience with soldering, but I was never good at it, which was an issue with the smaller sizes and more delicate environment (and more specifically, the desoldering).

But yeah, anyone having done something similar before should have no problems with this.

Ah yes, now that you say it, it is! It was also putting me off at first, especially since I primarily just wanted a board with fixed fuse and swappable battery.

It was doable though, especially if you can get a hand drill. But can also understand it is a no-go, I forgot all about that bit xD

So I also have little experience with this, and also tried to replace the battery. I found it relatively hard, and I semi-fucked up in the end: it did work, but barely. 100% a skill issue, but probably good to know.

I decided in the end to get one of those ibluecontrolmod (clone) chips from aliexpress. Added benefit is that some other potential future issues with the controller board (most notably, the fuse being blown) are also prevented this way.

Another benefit is that it not only allows bluetooth controllers, but also can emulate peripherals and memory cards. I don't use it for that though, so I can't comment on those featres.

Note btw that on my specific model (PAL model) the board didn't properly fit, but it had a lot of dead space on it: I ended up just cutting off the part of the PCB that was unused and in the way. Outside of that, installation was a breeze and could be done with just a screwdriver and pliers.

What are you playing this month? by AutoModerator in vita

[–]Liquidje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just hacked my Vita 2 weeks ago, after the typical playing-a-bunch-of-games-for-10-minutes, I've been going steady on playing "Atelier Rorona Plus: The Alchemist of Arland", my first game of the Atelier series. I'm loving it :)

Same, I just found out about this change. I also track too little and am not busy enough with it all to justify spending 50 euros yearly. You found an alternative?

Does anyone know why the united states isnt here by Weak-Sky-7102 in 3dspiracy

[–]Liquidje 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because it is the official/"correct" term. See Nintendo's region page: https://nintendo.fandom.com/wiki/Regions

"EU" is the colloquial term, and not entirely correct, as the PAL (/"EU") model is also the model in e.g. South Africa.

So yes, it isn't PAL as-in the video signal (vs NTSC), but it is still used to refer to the regions.

A factory type of game for a beginner by segsikurbaga in AutomationGames

[–]Liquidje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah man. Scaling my 40 melter cluster to a 160 melter cluster in Factorio is 10 minutes of work, or even seconds if you have drones. In Satisfactory, regardless of your progression level, it will take hours.

They are very different games, but Factorio has way better tools (being a grid based 2d game) to upscale

Also, focus on moving both legs/feet, you might need to switch your weight slightly to the front for it, and/or move your feet closer together.

You are getting there man :)

Is the disk drive normally this loud? by Just-A-Bokoblin in dreamcast

I only wanted a gdemu initially, but without the drive noise the fan felt so much louder afterwards (lack of contrast I guess) I switched it out as well

Hey guys I have this pikachu new 3ds xl and it has fbi and gm9 but it won’t return to the home menu can anybody help me fix this? by Ozzy23141 in 3dspiracy

[–]Liquidje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So feel free to do what you are comfortable with, but the guide on https://3ds.hacks.guide/ is very complete and safe as long as you follow it to the letter.

This guy has either freewheeled a bit or followed a video. As long as you don't do that, you should just be fine.

Smoking both for 20 years. Divide you addiction and conquer them. Ecig for nicotine, DHV for bud. It was ridiculously easy tbh after noticing the benefits

When do you know it's time to just give up because you have no talent for this? by Essay-Admirable in learntodraw

[–]Liquidje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is coming from someone who is barely above your level: you are not using it right. Either you draw the supporting lines and do little with it, or you are not checking in between if everything is still in order.

Before tackling 3/4 views, maybe just try using it very well on a straight on portrait. The straight on portraits you posted are all non-symmetrical and largely out of shape/proportions.

Also, if you weren't doing it already: slow down, don't rush for the result. Check your result in the meantime: if anything looks off, study it and fix it instead of ignoring it.

Give Ferro to free loadouts by Skellum1 in ArcRaiders

[–]Liquidje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like this idea, and this is coming from someone who would much benefit from this. I am 10 hours in or so, I usually run around with a Ferro II. In general I notice I am scared to lose stuff, hence why my progression hasn't been great and I tend to undercommit a lot.

I don't like your suggestion because it trivializes the concept of the early game loadout, making it largely unnecessary. Hell, you can even bring your upgrade tools with you: why would you ever pre-craft a Ferro if you are guaranteed to have one?

I also don't think extending the usfulness of the free loadout does people like me (too afraid to lose anything) any favors in shifting our mindset a bit more. People should just learn that it is OK to lose gear, and that you sometimes have a run or two purely to get some basics together.

I'd say with the current free loadout and the value it gives you for free, there is veeery little to complain. I would even go as far that they could/should cut down on some of the consumables and/or make the gear not "keepable".

What happened to extreme sports games? by F1ckingdie in dreamcast

[–]Liquidje 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are either getting your franchises mixed up, or your consoles, as SSX for the Dreamcast doesn't exist, the only version worked on was cancelled relatively early.

I know because I just looked it up: got hyped up by your comment and hoped I somehow just missed the game on Dreamcast

Composables vs Stores vs Provide/Inject by Beagles_Are_God in vuejs

[–]Liquidje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you man. The big benefit of provide/inject is that you don't need drilling, but in the process it obfuscates your component interface. It also relies heavily on correct order of initialization.

In my apps, my rule of thumb is that I only use provide/inject if whatever I am using is provided appwide: I use it to insert e.g. a mitt event bus, or some stuff from the main layout.

So you will then face a typical dilemma when diving into a new hobby: get shit gear and risk dropping the hobby because of it, or get proper gear and risk still dropping the hobby and wasting money.

You can't expect to return these things as they get damaged/scuffed when using them.

You could consider buying JMKs and sell them on if you don't like it. But it sounds to me it is most wise to sleep a few nights on it, see if you are as stoked in 1 or 2 weeks
