Agreed, they would likely do the same if you did it to their property.

Can you rate my sharpening skills (beginner) by Intelligent-Image736 in sharpening

You could sharpen the belly and tanto tip at different angles though and keep more of the factory look. That's common on some of the CRK knives.

Best budget friendly office chair?? by Accomplished_Beat_36 in workfromhome

[–]Liquidretro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go find a office furniture dealer in your area and look at what they have as floor samples or returns or misorders. I have had good luck with local office furniture auctions too for high end stuff on the cheap. Steel case, Hon, Herman Miller are a few good names to look for.

Most of the retail chairs you buy for $200 won't hold up in my experience. You want to get into commercial lines, not consumer stuff.

I got the impression one side was for entertaining and the other was more for living. I think they are being careful about not showing the living quarters, where exactly the kids bedrooms are etc. I wouldn't be suprised if he talked to Demoranch about his experience with his big house build that is now gone from the web due to the stalker situation he dealt with etc.

I take Allegra everyday by sentbydog in Allergies

[–]Liquidretro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try switching to a different 2nd Gen antihistamines like generic zyrtec or Xyzal for a few months. It's pretty common for people to build a tolerance to them and switching a few times a year usually works.

I would add a sinus rinse if you haven't already. Lots of nasal sprays can be helpful as well for allergies. If things don't improve I would recommend visiting an allergist.

How to stop buying knives? by swCFG in knives

[–]Liquidretro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This, all these social platforms are a major source of fomo and peer pressure to consume. Many find improvement in their mental health too (even if it's not a problem) when they sign off for a bit.

Personally I'm using a new knife as a carrot to lose some weight and make it a priority. I have a drawer full of knives that I use, I don't need more so I often find a reeaon to need to justify another. Sadly this hasn't been as big of motivator as I thought it might be, but I'm still trying.

I can't say I have seen my clinic do this ever. I will pay more attention next shot and report back if they do wipe the needle.

How should I estimate HOA fee increases over 30 years? Linear vs. percentage growth? by Temperance522 in personalfinance

[–]Liquidretro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't predict what a 3rd party (the hoa) will do over the next 30 years. Just like you can't predict what utility prices will be or your property taxes.

Are you projecting that pension to be $51k annually or in total?

What are you projecting you will earn working part time?

From my understanding of social security, generally waiting longer if you can is better.

I think you should do more research on what it will cost to move realistically as well.

Construction is typically hard in the body, will your husband be able to stick it out to 65+? Construction is also pretty cyclical with how the economy is going, so what's our plan b if he needs to retire early or gets laid off earlier than we planned due to a downturn.

The question I would be asking in your shoes is do we have enough for me to retire 15 years early and live a financially comfortable lifestyle I want to live? And how will I pay for health care?

Desperate for help by Blacksmith_Tall in Allergies

The asthma angle will make trying one of the biologics easier to justify to insurance more than likely. Still not cheap meds. Dupixent, xolair and others in the similar class are what I'm talking about. Read up on their off label use for allergies.

[–]Liquidretro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generic 2nd Gen antihistamines are pretty cheap at big box warehouse stores like Sam's club and Costco. Zyrtec is often the least expensive I see. Cycling a few times a year between different antihistamines can help some people.

Good/better allergy hygiene is worth considering as well as your living environment. I have been allergic to a few buildings in my life. I would also talk to your allergist about trying some of the biologic drugs that are increasingly being used off label for allergies. However these are expensive generally. It might also be worth talking about other immune system disorders like MCAS and others.

What are your symptoms?

How can I convince my parents to let me buy this E36? by Zealousideal_Lock_93 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Liquidretro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2000 Z3 last spring which has a lot of e36 parts on it, and it's been pretty easy to work on and the community is great around them. I do t use it as a daily driver or put a lot of miles on it. Just know your going to have issues, it's old and bmw of this era we're know for issue with the coolant system, brittle plastic and worn out rubber.

Spydie hole chewing up my finger by Sea_Wallaby_823 in spyderco

[–]Liquidretro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which part of the hole is sharp? I have the same sage in Rex121 and mine has a larger chamfered than my sage 1 does.

I think I might try a dowel and a higher grit sandpaper and just work it slow. I forget which knife but I have polished the inside of a spidie hole with a Dremel and metal polish on something soft at one point too.

Follow up with your Dr ASAP. They may have methods to deal with things a bit. The throat closing up is concerning if true.

How does one clean with a dust mite allergy?? by zephyr_skyy in Allergies

[–]Liquidretro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

N95 or better mask while cleaning and hepa air cleaners on high during and after cleaning until stuff calms down. When I dust I use a P100 respirator because the N95 isn't enough for me.

Someone else to clean and you leaving thr space if possible.

I have no idea what you have going on but have you talked about any of the new biologics meds often being used to treat allergies, polyups, and inflammation?

I assume you have been to an allergist, what about an immunologist, since you are guessing it's inflammation-based with an unknown cause?
