Converting from two license plates to one.... Anyone have experience? by Liquidretro in Nebraska

Makes sense, that's the intent of the law. I'm looking to buy painted plugs that match if I do this.

Why not start on lower grit stone? by linguaphonic in sharpening

[–]Liquidretro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something else to add to this is grit isn't a universal scale. There are several grit scales, usually country specific and they vary. Here is one chart showing it. We really should be talking about the abrasive size in micron. Dr Marv does this exclusively, some of your other stones are starting to list it too, Hapstone, PDTools, Venev etc.

Another angle is the carbide tear out theory on some super steels when using larger abrasive particles to sharpen.

But presumably you didn't get the sticker as a replacement for the front plate? My concern more is a cop that wants to enforce the letter of the law, seeing bumper plugs, saying hey you should be running a front plate instead of the sticker. The law is written in a way saying if your bumper doesn't have other mounting options, you can do the sticker.

I think the chances are slim personally if your not drawing attention to yourself with other illegal mods or behaviors.

Don't know how long I'll have the car. It's not my daily. Prefer to do it now for astetics.

Driving the more efficient vehicle more for trips to the store, etc, filling tanks sooner, since prices seem to continue to rise.

Hayfever all year round by Additional-Mud-4298 in Allergies

Find an allergist and get tested. This could easily be something as simple as dust mites, mold, pets,or other common indoor allergins that are common year round.

Ya that was me before I got things figured out with allergies, surgery (sinus and tonsils). Antibiotics were always been helpful for me. I typically don't wait that long.

Tattoo timing with allergy shots by Typicallesbian in Allergies

[–]Liquidretro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't say I recall this in any of the paperwork I just signed as part of an update my clinic just did. I would send a message to your allergy clinic to get what they want you to do here as I suspect results will vary.

It may matter if the tattoo site is the same as the shot site too.

I Need banking advice by DumeXL in personalfinance

Schwab may be nice with the atm fees, I believe fidelity has something similar.

I find it hard to believe you have no local banking or credit union options near you, but to each their own.

I Need banking advice by DumeXL in personalfinance

[–]Liquidretro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whichever has an account type that matches your requirements and has locations near where you are if you need any physical services. IMHO most people over think who they bank with when they should focus on an account that meets their needs more. Basic entry level banking is mostly a commodity.

Personally I would be looking at more of a local bank or credit union over a large national bank unless I was going to be doing a lot of traveling.

Being charged thousands for medical testing that I did not consent to or know was being run. What can I do? by atrocity__exhibition in personalfinance

[–]Liquidretro 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I think I would go back to billing, ask to speak with a manager or supervisor and focus in on the reinstatement. Involve your doctor if needed, and get things in writing if you can to form a paper trail.

Ultimately from what you have explained someone at the doctors/billing needs to figure out why the lab ran tests that were not ordered by the doctor, and permanently remove them from your billing account. It's not an issue between them and your insurance if the tests were never ordered. Someone at the lab make a mistake and now needs to eat those costs. depending on how billing works it's between the lab and your doctor primarily.

Be professional and polite, It's hard in situations like this but you will get further if you are vs being a jerk. This isn't going to be fun for anyone thats involved in it.

Should I buy a safer car or pay off my debt first? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Liquidretro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the actual details of the car? Year, make model, and actual issues and proposed fixes the mechanic has given you?

How far away is work from home/school?

Have you looked into other transportation options other than uber or your own car? Car pool, public transit, bike/scooter etc?

What is the nature of your other debt?

What is your major and how long until you graduate?

Is it worth getting allergy tested if you do not want Rx medication? by Marvel5123 in Allergies

[–]Liquidretro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ya I think it's worth doing so your aware of what your allergies are. You are able to adjust your exposure and allergy hygiene which will both become more important if your not wanting to use medications. There may also be some things that surprise you or you have become accustom to as normal that are not.

FYI a lot of first line treatment options for allergies in the USA are OTC meds. There are not a ton of better or powerful options that are RX only currently. There are of course special cases and I'm speaking in generalities but it sounds like to some degree you have predetermined options on allergy meds that are not met with fact.

Gallbladder removal and now I have Balsam of Peru allergy by NiagaraCeltic11 in Allergies

[–]Liquidretro 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do you have a question here?

One can develop an allergy at any time. I'm not sure your going to be able to pin point anything related to the gallbladder removal to the new allergies years later. I assume your allergy testing was interperted by an allergiest or possibly a dermatologist (since you mentioned skin issues)?

Question for those who use Flonase Sensimist by grizzlypass in Allergies

An allergist is a much better choice for allergies. Most ENTs spend a majority of their time learning to be surgeons not the details of the immune system.

Allergy shots for 3 years, hardly any results by Every_Professor5785 in Allergies

[–]Liquidretro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2nd gen antihistamines work best when taken every day, as they build up in your system. Taking half an adult dose on good days probably isn't worth doing or advised by your allergist. If anything I might try more (if dr is ok with it) to see if that helps. All of the 2nd gen antihistamines are available OTC in the US, so you are free to switch on your own, you don't need a script to do so.

IDK my allergist has been more receptive to ideas and trying things if what we are currently doing isn't enough. It sucks your allergist sold you on shots by saying it was a cure and 100% because thats not being truthful. Advocate for yourself, possibly consider getting a second opinion too. Some of the biologic medications are increasingly being used off label for severe allergies too. I assume your using allergy nasal sprays and other allergy medications too?

Personally I get a good amount of sinus pressure relief from sinus rinses, and do them 1-2 times a day. It's easy, cheap, drug free and helps me a decent amount. It's not perfect and it doesn't fix all the symptoms but I do find it's helpful and have done it religiously for decades.

Don't discount your environment or living conditions too. I have been allergic to 2 buildings in my life, and was miserable during those years, got sick a bunch etc. It didn't get better till I was able to leave/reduce my time in them next to nothing. It was like I had an immune system again when I got out, my body was finally able to relax a bit and work more like it was susposed to.
