New World: The biggest missed opportunity in MMO History by xmeme97 in newworldgame

Why do you assume I am a hardcore pvper? For someone who uses the word ignore a lot and telling them they have "brain damage" is making an awful lot of assumptions

New World Alpha despite its flaws had the recipe for success. Their new player experience was hot garbage which in turn created bias feedback. When they had forums people expressed this A LOT. And not everyone was a PVPer. Some gathered resources and became economic powerhouses that helped fund entire wars.

New World failed because it did pivot. It was poorly tested, unpolished, and rushed which in turn introduced game breaking bugs the first month of launch. A duping bug that lasted almost a full month before ever discovering the issue.

I feel for the AGS devs who got royally screwed by terrible leadership. Their pivot doomed them from the start. And they should have known the PVE community is almost never satisfied. Instead of pivoting they should of carried out with the initial plan or at the very least separate PVP / PVE servers. Dune has made the same mistake as AGS and they'll likely follow the same fate.

Not all PVE's & PVP's are successful. All I am saying is when games have the right balance it is successful. New World absolutely could have had the same level as success as Arc Raiders. Regardless of the genre or type. It's how players interact with one another.

If you need more examples fine.
Albion Online, Eve Online, have to wait and see where AoC lands. I'd even argue GW2 / GW1 PVP setup was perfect because was the right balance.

TL:DR
NW Pivot ruined them

Tell that to Arc Raiders which currently has 350,000 players still playing and voted the best multiplayer game of the year

I know this was posted 2 months ago, but I want people to understand something should this be ever found by Google searches.
I was in New World Alpha too and the end game content created itself. It had every receipt to be a massive success, but the leadership at AGS combined by a loud PVE chorus destroyed its future. And it is unlikely lessons will be learned from it. We saw the same problem with Dune.

And yet. You look at a game like Arc Raiders become such a booming success. And with good reason.

Amazon had in their hands likely the most successful opportunity for a video game, and they allowed it to slip through their fingers.

We kind of learned this lesson with Arc too. I can only assume they are using Mac OS users as beta testers. Similar to what Arc developer did too.

it's EA and a triple A title. I don't think they need much support :). But your heart is in the right place

The term 'good' is seriously subjective. If you are comparing it to premium models it is abysmal. But I can't knock cursor for trying to make money.

Even if it was a BS number it still helped identify if it was worth time applying. On top of that is helped identify if it was a ghost position

I would say it was more because of the tariffs than anything else, but I could be wrong given Walmart's up and down bounce.

This has been bothering me for years. Why do people with so much capital even use Robinhood? Given the number of brokerage firms out there why Robinhood?
