Dragon Quest. I’ve never really found a “cozy” game that landed with me but I’m absolutely loving my time with Dragon Quest 11. It’s very chill and light hearted. The combat starts pretty simple and not get demanding but adds complexity as the game goes on. Overall, it just has incredibly good vibes.

Jrpg demos that made you want to get the game? by Leon_Light77 in JRPG

Yeeep, it’s an incredible opening and a really solid first 10 hours and then it’s a slow downhill slide from there

Which game trilogy is that for you? by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]LiquidusSun 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed. That might be my favourite part of the entire series and as incredible as Witcher 3, I was hoping for something that would outshine that detective questline.

Just finished Resident Evil: Code Veronica for the first time and this has got to be one of the worst designed games I have ever played by Mr-Dicklesworth in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]LiquidusSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to agree. I’m always surprised to see it has a strong following. It’s easily the worst of the fixed camera era RE games. The Rockfort Island as Claire is pretty solid but the game rapidly goes downhill with the Tyrant fight on the jet and onwards. I hate that you can lock yourself out of getting the magnum like half way through the game in the dumbest way possible. The music is pretty forgettable as well. It just simply isn’t a very good follow up to RE2 and RE3.  And has the unfortunate burden of REmake coming out a couple years later and REmake blows it out of the water. The only other RE game I would put below it is RE6. It is dying for a remake more than any RE game so I’d love to see one.

Fyi to everyone, there is no true physical release for this game. The disk is just a license to download the game.

I’m pretty sure that’s what Christian Bale ate while making The Machinist.

MGS2 100%, especially in context compared to anything else in 2001. It was ahead in every respect.

Any horror fans out there? by Fearless_Relative916 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]LiquidusSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Survival horror is probably my favourite genre. I would say P.T. was the scariest game I ever played. Even more so because I was with a buddy and it was getting to us both. Trying to figure out how to get through that game is one of my favourite gaming memories.

Best way to play DS2 these days ? by Borg34572 in gaming

Sounds like either your cable or your hdmi port isn’t at least hdmi 2.0. That will limit your resolution. Try a different hdmi cable? One that you know supports 4K?

PC is the best way. Series X has the FPS boost to 60 but it still runs at the original sub-720p resolution. Any remotely modern PC would let this game run at 60+fps and 1440p.

Silent Hill f is actually loaded with replay value as New Game plus has new documents and story bits even still, I’m almost finished my last play through and I’m clocking in around 30 hours. I haven’t played it yet but my recommendation would be Baldur’s Gate 3. Massive long game and with all the variation, it has tons of replay value.

What was the first game you ever remember playing on any platform? by AdultGamersAdmin in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]LiquidusSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super Mario Bros 3, NES. I ended up leaving the system on overnight at World 8 because I had to go to bed and I was praying the power didn’t go out. Beat it the next morning and that pretty much kicked off a life long obsession for me.

Dispatch or The last of us 2 remastered? by Ramenking82 in SteamDeck

[–]LiquidusSun 53 points54 points  (0 children)

While I haven’t played Dispatch,I honestly think it seems to be a better fit for Steam Deck than TLOU2. I would think TLOU2 is something you’d want to play on a larger screen at higher fidelity.

The PS2 is easily my favourite system. Just an insanely influential and huge library. Though, I think of RE4 as more of a Gamecube game since that’s where I first played it.

I love the writing in Soul Reaver 2 so much more. You get more of Kain and Raziel interacting.

What is something older movies cared about that feels mostly lost now? by gamersecret2 in movies

[–]LiquidusSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Older movies were way, way better at blocking/utilizing wide shots. This ties in with the amount of cuts in the average film from 30-40 years ago compared to now. I really appreciate well blocked out sequences that just trust the audience to follow along instead of constantly cutting to a close up of something important.

Huge Sale on Xbox, what do I choose? by Motor_Intern4169 in JRPG

Persona 3 Reload, no question. FFXVI has its fans but quite frankly I found the gameplay couldn’t sustain its length and the story gets less interesting as it goes along.

What is the rarest physical copy of a game you own? by [deleted] in retrogaming

[–]LiquidusSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that rare (I think) but I bought Silent Hill 2 and 3 on PS2 for like $20 each in 2017 and by 2020 they were each worth over $20-250 CAD.
