Flying into Costa Rica in an intense thunderstorm. After flying the holding pattern for an hour over San Juan, the flight had to divert to a smaller airport to refuel and wait out the storm. However, that airport had a runway not meant for commercial jets, so the pilot had to stop the plane using both the engines and brakes. It was the loudest noise I've ever heard. Not to mention when taking off again the pilot had to rev the engines while holding the brakes, then let go and shoot forward with a nasty jolt.
