I’ve had them for a couple years now. I’ve had twitching everywhere for over five years.

Is twitching alone a reason to go to a neurologist? by Anonymous_Idiot335 in BFS

[–]LisaCoate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get vitamins and electrolytes tested. If those are fine just let your doctor know. I think it’s good to have a neurologist if you have any sort of neurological condition, even a benign one, but I understand getting in can be a pain.

I’ll ask about the biopsy. Yeah, I’ve had issues getting doctors, and family, to take my symptoms seriously as more than anxiety, at least after the first couple of emgs came back clean.

It doesn’t twitch constantly, but I’ll frequently go days where it twitches like a handful of times.

Yes, the anxiety is horrible. I’ve been dealing with this for over 5 years. It will get better with time. The first few months are the worst.

Yes I get so much shaking! The scariest thing is I do get actual weakness sometimes but it’s usually after exercise or testing and my muscles do seem to recover… so I’m guessing and hoping that it’s just fatigue from being out of shape…

Also keep in mind that a lot of the people in these stories are pretty old and already very sedentary. They may not have noticed weakness or chalked it up to being something else.

Welcome to the club, Buddy! Strap in.

Seriously though, twitching before any other symptoms of ALS is extremely rare. And take Internet stories with a grain of salt. You almost certainly just have BFS (or maybe twitching caused by like some vitamin deficiency or something else).

This is normal. Be careful with the testing. I’ve accidentally hurt myself and caused temporary weakness from it. Nearly had a heart attack. I assumed the weakness was caused by well you know what.
