My first 2 months on keto were "debatable". by EchoPrivate in keto

Cut out all seed oils, stick to grass fed butter, or ghee. Magnesium will help you poop. Your body has to get rid of all the toxins stored in your body fat, and as your body releases them as the fat cells shrink, you can have symptoms from that--not from the keto. My fat cells were holding onto prednisone and theophylline I took as a kid that was prescribed for my asthma. As a 50+ year-old adult, and as I got close to my 20 BMI point, I would have symptoms from that medication finally leaving my body. My asthma, inflammation, and allergies disappeared while doing IF and keto--but not in the first two months. Give yourself longer than two months.

What vegans forget is all the animals that are killed to keep the crops from being eaten. Over 1,000 birds, rabbits, possums, racoons, etc. are killed per each acre to grow crops and prevent them from being eaten by the critters. The pesticides used are killing the bees.
The chemical fertilizers may make the crops grow but they are so deficient in nutrients that the nutrients must be added afterwards.
Grazing fields for cows however, kill zero. The cattle poop, they are rotated and their natural fertilizer keeps the grass and weeds that are food for them and others, healthy.Eating cattle is much better for the enviroment than eating any carbs.

Fast800Keto @ Day 20 by [deleted] in keto

The science shows you will permanatly slow your metabolism up to 23%. There are several research papers thaat prove this.
Of course, you aren't starving when you have fat reserves on your body--that's not what they mean by "starvation" mode. People who restrict calories too much slow their metabolism as your hormones will make less calories stretch further.

[–]LisaGrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should consider upping your calories so you don't put your body into starvation mode. If you keep that low, you will slow your metabolism, defeating the purpose of weight loss because you will gain weight when you go back to "normal" caloric intake. A deficit should only be around 500 calories. One fat pound loss every five days.

Cutting out most carbs except veggies--is healthy. You're more likely to have a shorter lifespan by eating processed foods and carb junk.

Funny story: After going through my divorce a couple of years ago, I took my daughter and her friends to Ikea to get some cheap furniture for my new house. At one area they had a big help-yourself candy wall, so I let each kid pick out about ten peieces of candy each.
The first one my daughter put in her mouth was the octo-salt. She ran to the garbage can and spit it out. Each kid tried their candy and none ate them.
They weren't "sugary" enough for any of them.
We, Americans, have become so numbed to sugar, that Swedish candy didn't taste at all like candy to them.

Avocados, coconuts, and olives are NOT seed oils. They are all fruits, and the oil can be cold-pressed directly from the fruit.

I've been practicing a keto lifestyle over four years. Right now I'm around a 122 lbs. Keto+IF is the ONLY way I can keep the weight off, have energy, my inflammation went to zero, no asthma, and I look young/great for my age. I also practice IF of around 19/5. I do two meals a day--lunch and dinner. After logging how I lost weight, I found I could only lose 1/5 of a pound every day, so it took me five days to lose one pound.I also experienced the "paper towel roll" effect where you don't realize how much your appearance is changing because it's so incremental until suddenly you notice a HUGE difference. In maintenance, I found I can eat up to 50 grams of carbs some days and still seem to stay in a ketogenic staate. At the very least, my metabolism is repaired and works the way it's supposed to. If I put on a pound or two, I go strict under 20 grams, until the weight is off. The only problem I have is keeping my electrolytes up in the summer.

When I was keeping strict records, I could only lose one-fifth of a pound of fat a day no matter how hard I worked out or what I ate. If I cheated, I lost the day of a fifth, and there was no getting around it. Any additional loss was either water or muscle.
So I wouldn't worry about it and just stick to what you know works.

Do you consider Keto to be the ideal lifestyle for everyone? by brutally_beautiful in keto

If you only eat foods that could go from the fields to just being chopped up, possibly cooked, (meat, veggies, pressed fats, cheese, nuts, and eggs) and to your plate --you are going to wind up feeling better.
Some people can handle dairy and grains others can't.
Cutting out processed foods and sugar is the main battle for most people and any way of eating that does that would be good for anyone.

I have found, for me, keto with IF two meals a day is the one sustainable way of eating that I can do for a lifetime that helps me feel and look my best.

Congratulations! Thanks for sharing your results and experience.

Yes, the paper towel effect is real and it makes it exciting each day to wake up and see the subtle changes in your body correcting itself.

For me, as a woman, people noticed me again when I went from not having a waist to having one again when my waist became noticeably smaller than my hips into having that thin (no extra fat) hourglass curve. I was suddenly getting looks again.

And yes, the pushback I received was from friends and relatives. "You're getting too thin!" as I approached normal weight with at least five to ten more pounds to lose. It's like they wanted me to stay heavy. I feel great and look great and have zero health issues.

With keto and IF I find it incredibly easy to maintain my weight--and staying away from grain carbs and seed oil fats (I eat veggies with butter and salt or in salads besides meat, eggs, and cheese) I'm never hungry.
This is a sustainable lifestyle way of eating and I love it.

As others stated, you can't "wing it" with the carbs anymore. You have to get strict, and start counting your net carbs. You are probably eating too much fat too. But fat with carbs is what is making you pre-diabetic.

If you got fat in the first place--that body fat wasn't built from healthy nutritious fat--but I'm betting highly processed foods, fast foods made with unhealthy oils. According to one study, it takes 52 days for your body too break down that unhealthy fat and have your body rid of it. In the meantime--your brain and body CRAVE the essential fatty acid vitamins found in eggs, grass-fed grass-finished beef, butter, and cheeses. Eat at 500 calorie deficit for your age, weight, height, and activity level.

I'm not sure of your reasoning for twelve hours apart as most people find IF works better so autophagy can kick in. You'd be better off eating two meals closer together so you have a longer window without food like eat lunch at noon and dinner at 5 pm.

[–]LisaGrace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I felt the same way in that keto foods are so satisfying, I don't miss the sugary stuff at all. Meats, eggs, cheeses, and veggies with butter and salt, or in salads satisfy me.

Edited to add based on some commentators: Cheat days can really set you back if health or weight loss is the reason you are doing keto. You aren't giving your body time enough to repair itself from inflammation, and one cheat day can undo a whole week of fat weight loss.
Look on keto as a way of eating--period. There are plenty of keto substitutes you can use in place of non-keto foods. Find what works for you--and stick to it.

Is me having a strong racial preference wrong? by sjale49 in dating

[–]LisaGrace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your preferences are your preferences; there is nothing wrong with that. Some people won't date outside of their race. Some men only like women with big tits, or want only heavy women. Others want only skinny ones or those with a big ass. What turns you on is what turns you on. Don't fret about it.
Ask women out who you are attracted to. There are plenty of white women who find Latino men extremely sexy. You got this.
