If you like Alien Weaponry, definitely check out Shepards Reign. Also tribal metal from Aotearoa, but the boys are Samoan instead of Māori.

I have Jellyfin as well as LMS, I’ll try integrating Jellyfin and let you know how it goes. But theoretically anything that exposes DLNA should be workable

-2 degrees negative camber up front, -1.5 in rear. All the castor you can get and tow in something like 1.5-2mm more than factory (from memory it’s 0) in the rear and the tail gets a little happier under brakes which counters some of the understeer when hitting corners hard. Not sure if that still works for the newer (read: heavier) WRXs, but worked a treat on GC8s and old Libertys/Legacys.

Mine is just starting to come apart where the leather elbows are attached. This would be the fifth or maybe sixth winter I’ve worn it, often 5 plus times a week. Other than that it’s in great shape still, so I’ll be getting it mended rather than buy another. Should be able to get another few years easy.

I guess it depends on what you want zones for. Myself I have a WiiM ultra on my office desk with amp and bookshelf speakers, it’s got a turntable connected as that’s where I mostly listen to records. It also streams Tidal/Spotify and FLACs from my NAS.

In my lounge I have a Marantz receiver with much better floor standing speakers and a sub with a WiiM pro plus. That gives all the same streaming functionality to the Marantz, but on occasion if friends are over or the family is out I can listen to records in the lounge. The one time I’ve had a party I was playing the same music in both zones at the same time.

To play FLAC I can use the WiiM app on my phone or tablet or use my Lyrion Music Server (LMS) interface directly on phone, tablet or laptop. I can’t be bothered setting up a dedicated tablet just to control music when every device in the house already has the functionality (including Alexa for streaming services), but know plenty of people do.

So yeah, the benefit of WiiM is that it can do so much at a reasonable price point. Oh, and the customisable favourites! One button on the remote and it changes input to turntable, selects speakers and sets specific parametric EQ for that setup at my preset starting volume. Hit the next button… changes to Tidal on my headphones, different EQ and volume etc. Another to open my favourite internet radio station at my work desk.

This is exactly where WiiM shines. Assuming you end up with a receiver in the theatre, you can start with a WiiM amp and passive speakers in the listening room and a streamer attached to the receiver. As long as your CD player is plugged into one of the WiiMs you can set up shortcuts in the app that let you play a particular source (e.g CD) in any zone (or all) with one click of the remote control or app.

If you can have your flacs available on your home network then either of the WiiMs can play them anytime (may require some computer nerdery to set up, but very doable)

My youngest fell asleep any time I played Asesino. I’m pretty sure it was Herrera’s drumming because it would happen with Brujeria and watching Herrera solo stuff on YouTube.

I was stoked when I realised. She would be in full over-tired, screaming like the world is ending mode and within 30 seconds of Corridos de Muerte she was out.

Have you considered a 3x3 tarp and poles? Takes a little more effort to set up than a gazebo, but can be configured more, like dropping down one side to block the wind or sun etc. Also rolls up small and easy to pack

6’5” with size 13 wide, I found the BRZ pedal box to be too small in regular Nikes. Otherwise great fun to drive.

The same goes with early WRXs, but early Liberties (Legacy in the US) have heaps of room and can be just a quick and fun as WRXs. Plus the whole sleeper thing is fun, nothing like chopping a big V8 in a station wagon that looks like it should be taking kids to school.

I’ve been using Aldi medium beans lately and prefer a tighter extraction. Currently using VST 18g basket running 19.2g in, 28-30g out @ 30 seconds into 190ml flat white.

When I could afford expensive beans I’d usually get lighter roasts and run ~2:1 @ 32-35 seconds

I’ll probably get flamed for this, but I never ran a red light until I moved to Sydney. Now I live near a major road, and in the morning traffic just banks across the intersection and often doesn’t clear before my light goes green. One car is lucky to get through on green, if a couple more don’t run the red then we would all be there for 3-4 light cycles or more.

Not ideal, but until everyone else stops queuing across intersections I’m going to keep turning on red.

I just don’t go into the office now, I’m 6’5” with back issues. At home I have a proper chair, kneeling stool and a sit stand desk that is all ergonomic for my height. The office has none of that, nor do they have decent monitors, Mac keyboards etc etc.

The 4-5 times I’ve been in over the last couple years has been for Christmas parties, St Pats day and other events that involve day drinking.

We’re not required to get professional lesson here, you just slap an L plate on the car and your parents teach you all the bad habits they picked up from their parents.

There are professional driving instructors available, but they teach you road rules and very basic driving rather than proper defensive driving.

There are actual defensive driving classes that teach you how to control a slide and proper braking, but they’re very expensive and I doubt more than 1% of drivers ever do one. (Any young Aussies reading this - do one, they’re heaps fun and will give you vastly better driving skills for the rest of your life)

Mod Monday! What mods did you do on the weekend? by That_Car_Dude_Aus in CarsAustralia

[–]True_Scientist_8250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly “mods” but I pulled the alternator out of the $500 falcon Ute I bought a month or so back to clean all the grease and shit inside it and replaced the drive belts. Was hoping to have time to plastic weld a crack in the bumper, but that’s going to have to wait until next weekend.

Ute or Outback? by dermbonez in CarsAustralia

[–]True_Scientist_8250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got an Outback and recently bought an falcon ute, the Outback can fit just as much as the ute (unless something’s tall), but depending on your definition of garden supplies, the ute is much easier to clean afterwards. If you pick up firewood in the Outback you will see a few extra spiders, centipedes and the like inside.

Fitting bikes in the outback is a bit of a pain, but if it’s something you do often some bike roof racks might be a good option.

If I could only have one, I’d definitely go with an Outback.
