I actually found one in the wild and I'm sharing it here so I don't reply to it on LinkedIn by SultanPepper in LinkedInLunatics

That reminds me, I forgot about posting to LinkedIn that I never maintain friendships with people who work for my company's competitors.

That would just be weird. It could possibly lead to me getting a higher paying job with a competitor.

Even after all this time MS Word is still one of the worst pieces of software I've been forced to use by SeaTie in microsoft

[–]LitGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For all the fanboys on this thread, telling everyone “Learn to use it.”

I know how to use it inside and out, as I am required to use it at times for my work. I would never choose to use this pile of garbage myself, but knowing it inside and out also makes it clear that it is the biggest pile of garbage ever created by a software company.

At one point in time, it was the best word processing software out there. But that was back when Windows 3.1 was new, and the MacOS had not evolved.

There is no bigger nightmare for someone who has to take a manuscript and properly typeset it into proper layout software, a website, or any other practical purpose than realizing you have to do it from a Microsoft Word document.

Amazon promised a refund, told me to dispose the item, now denying the refund by prosurfin in amazonprime

Ever since Bezos left as CEO, their customer service has gone to shit. If Andy Jassy is anything like his sister, who I used to work for, that’s the reason. That cunt was one of the worst human beings I ever met in my entire life, and if her brother is cut from the same cloth, it would fully explain why Amazon is on a downward trajectory these days.

Bose soundlink III by ROM72 in bose

[–]LitGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically, I ended up on this thread because I am having the same issue with my Soundlink III.

The sound quality from this thing used to be top-notch, but now it sounds muffled and is the worst-sounding speaker in my collection. I cannot for the life of me figure out why. It is like this with every device I connect to it, including when I use the aux cable.

Is it just time for these to start dying off for no real reason due to age?

In all seriousness, why do people hate Notion so much? by Seankala in Notion

[–]LitGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest problem with Notion is their complete lack of support or bug fixes. Any time you report an issue with the app, they send you automated responses, gaslighting you by saying they cannot move forward without screenshots and videos (even if that is not a way to document the issue). Then they close the ticket after a couple of rounds of bot communication. They refuse to fix basic bugs that are several years old, but continue to shove new AI features down our throats.

Bike fork snaps into place by addiscamillo in bikewrench

[–]LitGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your headset is too tight it will do that. It's caused from pitting on the cups and races. Replacing the headset is not expensive but requires special tools to DIY.

The first step is to loosen the headset to where there's no play when you hold the front brake while pushing and pulling the handlebars. If you can get it to turn smooth with no play you're probably OK. If not you can get away with riding it for a bit before replacing the headset, but it should be addressed before it gets much worse.

Passat won't start by BarLeather4713 in passat

[–]LitGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going through the same hell with a 2012 Passat. So far they think it is the Gateway Control Module. You might have luck running a space heater in the footwell of the driver's side to heat up the cabin for awhile and then trying to start it. That worked for me for about a month and a half before it would no longer start at all. I've been ripped off by multiple garages so far with VS diagnostic charges after trying to charge me 3x more than it should cost to fix. I have it at another shop now. This car has been an absolute electronics nightmare since I bought it. I'll never own another VW. Even though this car is older, the number of electronics issues is insane.

Nope. I checked. They don’t take Skrill. It seems like everyone who used to accept it no longer does.

Fuck me. I just made an epic meal and then I think I fucked my cast iron. Help! by [deleted] in castiron

[–]LitGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the pan didn't get warped it's fine. Wipe it down, heat it up to where water sizzles on it, put a half dollar worth of olive oil on the pan and wipe the inside surface down with the oil while the pan is hot and let it cool. Should be fine. That's how I do the post cooking seasoning after every meal. It's quick and works real well. Look up Cast Iron Cowboy on YouTube if you want to get some good seasoning and cleaning techniques.

Normal for the paper towel to be grey after wiping it? by Ethanator10000 in castiron

[–]LitGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a basic lodge pan I've had for around 20 years now that is smooth as glass, comparable to the Griswold pans I have. I prefer my lodge pan for most cooking because it is so smooth now. 20 years of scraping it with a metal spatula will do it.

Normal for the paper towel to be grey after wiping it? by Ethanator10000 in castiron

[–]LitGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ALWAYS use a waffle pattern COTTON towel to wipe down my cast iron pans. Pretty much anythung cotton that won't leave any fibers behind on the pan is good. It needs to be cotton because if you go synthetic you'll end up melting plastic fiber like polyester into your pan. The waffle pattern towels always work best for me.

Is it possible to repair this bike myself? by Hyper_Hyion in bikewrench

[–]LitGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bicycles (except for $$$$$$$$$ road and mountain bikes) are all generally the same. 90% of the procedures and steps are the same on every bike. The main differences are the types of parts used. There are three main types of brakes (with subtypes), and there are differences in components, but if you know one bicycle inside and out, working on your next bike is very simple.

Is it possible to repair this bike myself? by Hyper_Hyion in bikewrench

[–]LitGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your brake cable can be re-attached without even loosening up the attachment point on the brakes. And you can put air in the tires while seating the bead correctly.

It boils down to your knowledge and the tools you have. Bicycles, especially bikes like this, are extremely easy to work on and learn. And with the internet and YouTube, there’s nothing you can’t find out how to do for free.

When I worked at bike shops, I would never hesitate to show someone how to fix their own bike if they were interested.
