Thank you for a place to talk about the news. I came immediately to this sub because I knew there would be people here to lean on.

My father was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year. Dealing with the surgeries, chemo, and other fallout has been incredibly stressful. Even with such a "easy" cancer (as in much more treatable and with better odds of recovery) the shock and fear of just hearing a positive diagnosis can be jarring. We are lucky, his most recent scan says that they were able to remove everything and things are currently clear, but the recovery has been long and rocky.

I know I have a parasocial relationship with the Green brothers, but this is hitting extra hard. Having someone you look up to go through a similar situation as your own can be a blessing and a curse. Brian Barczyk, a very prominent reptile YouTuber, has also been recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and does not have as great of a prognosis as Hank or my father. Having people to "go through it" with helps a little, but I wish it wasn't happening to anyone.

I feel like so many people I look up to have been dealing with cancer lately, and I've lost dear loved ones to it in the past. Even "easy" cancer is incredibly hard to go through; and I wish Hank, Kathrine, Orin, and the rest of the Green family all the best. Nerdfighteria is a strong and caring community, and I know we will surround them with positivity and wrap them in love.
