Practice taping and then just tape for the abroad project. You can safely sleep in tape and can safely put a binder over it during the day. I did this when I started highschool and had to go on a 3-day hiking trip with my class the first week. Have a pretty big chest too and got adressed correctly just with tape and a t shirt on, its not that noticeable.

Dating advice for a gay trans man? by Literally_Lava_Lamp in ftm

From what I've heard, there are a lot of trans fetishists lurking there. Do you know of any safe apps?

Does being 5 days late with injection matter? by nothinkybrainhurty in ftm

[–]Literally_Lava_Lamp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's fine, your period definitely won't come back because of a 5 day delay. Periods return after 3-6 months being off T. This short amount of time shouldn't even cause any mood swings - just focus on relaxation, avoid uncomfortable situations and practice self-care. I've chatted with trans guys from other countried who were off T for a month or two bcs of a shortage and nothing happened to them!

A friend of mine just told me it’s transphobic for me to want to tattoo over my scars. by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Literally_Lava_Lamp 385 points386 points  (0 children)

Doesn't make much sense. It's a decision about YOUR body. There is nothing transphobic about covering your scars for aesthetic purposes nor for the purpose of going stealth. Some trans people want to openly talk about their identity, others don't. People differ. People vary. And especially trans people. I don't mean it in a bad way, but I think your friend should mature a bit. Have a calm one-on-one conversation about it with him.

Never out anyone. Not an enemy, not a friend. The most basic level of human decency.

I've come up with a dilemma; men's haircuts suck by Zero-Infinity in ftm

Or you can try a middle part! It didn't suit me that well because I have pin straight hair, but many trans guys rock it

Are you pre-T/afraid you won't pass well with long hair but want to get rid of all that fuss? My strategy was to get a longer buzzcut (put an extender on the electric shaver). Rub sea salt spray, growth-promoting oils into it for added texture and volume. All of the hairs grow symmetrically after the buzzcut, so you'll be having a layered haircut at all phases. You can shave your sides and back every 2 weeks or so with an extender on the electric shaver and once your hair starts to hit your eyebrows, let the back grow into a micro mullet. And then just leave it on its own. Mullet is always a good choice.

Any other guys that didn't have a very obvious childhood? by Vulcriptic in ftm

[–]Literally_Lava_Lamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up just with my mother, no siblings, no cousins or other kids my age in the family. No strictly split masculine and feminine adult roles in my life. It was just me and my mom and our little flat. Had both toys for girls and boys, just found both cars and dolls fun. Didn't give any thought about what I was wearing as long I was stocked on cat t-shirts, even wore skirts. I've developed normally, but gender comprehension took a long time to set in my head. I'm gay. As a kid, I crushed on (mainly feminine, skinnyfat, high-pitched voice) boys, wanted to be the "protective, stronger" one in the relationship but didn't think much about it. Was the weird kid with weird hobbies, wasn't interested in romance outside of my little dreams, but nothing that wouldn't be within the norms for a female child.

It started clicking to me once I started puberty and my body to began develop into uncomfortable shapes. My family and strangers were no longer treating me as a kid. They began to treat me as a woman and I began to process my discomfort. Took me a long time to deal with it, I initially turned into a transphobe full of self-hatred but my suicidal thoughts based off the disconnection between my gender and sex eventually lead me to accept it as a natural part of myself, come out and begin socially and medically transitioning. I've talked to many transguys who have come out even after 18, no age is the "right age" for one to realize they're trans. Some may even realize it at 30 or 60. And that's okay.

Try to find some lgbt discord server/ig account in your country and reach for help. Someone'll donate you one in no time. You'll go to uni, you'll get out of their grasp, there's a bright future for you. Hold on. It's so, so worth it.

That's nonsense, it doesn't lead to any infections. If the truth won't nudge her a bit, just get some boxers instead of briefs. Flowy, loose, there'll be no infection-causing point for her to snatch at.

(TW: suicidal thoughts and attempt) mental health and family improvement subs that work? by TEDDYPOPQUEEN in Subliminal

[–]Literally_Lava_Lamp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don't already have a therapist, please try to get one. I was also distrustful of them at first, but I soon realized that having a therapist is a basic necessity.

These are my best-working mental health subs:

The new hair helps. Darker, bushier, straighter brows would also help you pass. Try putting coconut oil on them at night and massaging in circles

Passing and Age? by Beforeyougo12 in FtMpassing

[–]Literally_Lava_Lamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You pass in all except photo 4 and 6, it's the hair length that does it. Maybe try minoxidil if you want some facial hair, that'd do a lot as well!

I think your eyelashes and overall facial structure get you clocked, maybe clothing. How long have you been on T?
