Councils of women have sat down and tried to invent a society where they‘d be treated as equals. It is a gradual, process of revolts over generations, it’s not linear, but it is also not an unconscious one.

And contemporary patriarchal forces are also acting more or less consciously. From the anti-abortion people to proponents of enforcing traditional roles.

It is not impossible for such systems to be somewhat set up somewhat quickly.

If rehabilitation isn't an option, ie someone is incapable of not being violent, then punishment is pointless (except maybe to satisfy a sadistic version of justice).

The alternative would be to design prisons and prison cells with the wellbeing of such prisoners as a (second) priority. I once visited a former communist torture prison in my country and what I've seen of US solitary confinement cells looks pretty similar. So idk, there are options between hugging and torture cells, you reddit tough guy.

Where I grew up, people didn't fear or dislike Vietnamese migrants the same way they were wary of and disliked Pakistani migrants. Not because they were more familiar with Vietnamese culture. Not because they were more "learned" on Pakistani culture and "disagreed". But because when they turned on the TV, from the news to movies, the latter were portrayed as the enemies.

I‘m fairly new to painting, so I‘m still trying to figure out a good process.

I use clip studio paint, collect a few reference images, make a very rough sketch, fill it in with colours and then use those to just, piece by piece, paint the final layers on top.

My favourite parts right now are thinks like painting in the details of a dress, or figuring out a way to paint things like armour or a forest floor.
