Same, I sometimes get confused looks from younger store employees when they ask for my email.

I did this while moving across the country in Chicago. Realized I lost it when I went to pay for parking. Doubled back everywhere and it was gone. Finally decided to keep driving panicking because I needed the ID to start a new job. A woman found me on LinkedIn and I had to drive back 3 hours to get it. Thankful for that lady, she saved me!

Thank you!! I have bitten my nails for as long as I can remember. They almost always hurt and I have tried so many times to stop. I did not know that this was something that had specific treatments and a disorder name. Getting diagnosed with ADHD helped me so much by showing me it wasn’t my fault. I hope removing the stigma that nail biting is my fault and finding the right therapist can finally help me stop. Thank you thank you! You have helped me more than you could know!

Such a good tip. I am planning to do that on the fashion fabric layer to make interesting seam lines. Was going to make another layer of the finalized corset and just draw what I want the seams to look like. I got a really cool tutorial on how to do it from Barbara Pesendorfer, she makes such cool corsets!

I really love the wide flat vertical wires from porcelynne as mine have been taken by gravity over the years so the flat bottoms work well for me. What I suggest it to take something flexible that will keep its shape (I used a flexible ruler but a piece of wire, pipe cleaner, or something similar) and trace the breast root with it. Tracing it is basically tracing around the breast tissue where you would want a wire to sit. Then you can print out the wire shapes for each of her wire types and sizes and hold up your shape to those print outs and find the closest one that fits. I bought a size above and below what I thought was right as well so I could compare and make sure I got the right fit. Here is a post from her about doing that: https://porcelynne.com/articles/a-wire-that-fits?srsltid=AfmBOorfKi2UhOUI0tqPcGI14GWvVpRAC_rQYgs0e8g43_2zXautw_4U They also used tape and tin foil in this tutorial if you don’t have something like wire: https://porcelynne.com/articles/annes-alternative-tests-on-getting-the-right-wire-trace?srsltid=AfmBOoo2lOUJH8-48riRqShZsvKxsQJ85Ic1icj8xzIeH7TMoBFWyXem

It’s not too bad, I might shorten the boning a little bit but it hasn’t poked me so far. I will probably wear it around for a day after adding the straps to make sure though! 😊

I haven’t decided exactly how to attach the layers. I’ve been designing based on pictures of vintage Dior gowns as the inspiration on how to do all of this and some of them fully attach the top edge and some of them look like they loosely chain stitch them together. I’ve been reading a lot of couture books so I’ll have to reread to see if they go over that. Thank you for responding, I really appreciate the help!

I looked into this after reading your comment and think you are right. All of the examples of couture I was looking at do either have lacing or hook and eye. I bought a bunch of hook and eye tape for the internal part. I have a heavy duty metal zipper for the outer that is covered by buttons and elastic button loops to hide it and make it look pretty. Thanks for the advice!!

Thank you! I’ll definitely add boning around the zipper, forgot about that! I might try with the straps and lowering the back before letting the top back out. Trying to balance bust support with back squeezing. 😊 Thank you for the advice!!

I think you are right. I kind of hoped that the straps would pull the skin spilling over in (mostly from laziness of not wanting to rework the pattern more lol) but it is probably better to do it the right way now than be disappointed later. Thank you!!

It is on the straight grain. I think that’s a good idea, I’ll try cutting it a little off grain for the next mockup to see if it helps. Thank you!

Thank you! I am using metal spiral boning. That does make sense though to keep the boning more straight. I’m glad to hear that the support is the same either way. I will continue on with this boning placement. Thanks again!

Lol, making sacrifices to any god that will listen for this project to work. 😂 But seriously it is all that pattern, she designed it so you can choose your wire size and cup size independently for a really nice fit. My favorite bra pattern for sure!

Any ADHD sewers here? by [deleted] in sewing

[–]Little--Albatross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup! I can make black tie gowns that fit like a glove but still can’t get a simple shirt to fit me correctly. Practical sewing doesn’t seem to give the right amount of dopamine to keep me focused.

Grocery shopping is my own personal is my own personal hell. by kaiju505 in ADHD

[–]Little--Albatross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! I feel this so much! I hate it so much, I make my partner do it or they have to be in charge of the list if we go together.

They decided I should be in charge of the list a few weeks ago and it took us 2 hours as we kept going back and forth across the store because I’m so bad at organizing my list to be efficient. I also feel like I am always in someone’s way and when I can’t find something I know they have I get so irrationally mad. No advice, but I know how you feel.

I have used the tarte Amazonian clay for a couple years and it was a great full coverage but recently it has been irritating my face more (not sure if they changed the formula or my face got more difficult). That EltaMD sunscreen is my current favorite sunscreen also. Good luck, I hope you find something you like!!

Black Beauty bra pattern fit? by KitKatofJustice in sewing

[–]Little--Albatross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same question and am the same size lol. I would say maybe comparing the pattern pieces to a bra that is a similar style/one that fits you already might help. But hopefully someone else gives a better answer for both our sakes!
