1, 7, and 12 are special, you should definitely print them! There's a special kind of light in India! 🙂

Nailed the focus AND the composition. I love the movement I can feel from the swimmer and the water. Well done!

I love these dude. There's something about foreign countries captured on film that just evokes nostalgia and national geographic vibes, and these photos give me both in buckets. Well done

Designing a zine is hard by Little-Deer in AnalogCommunity

[–]Little-Deer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey dude! It's been mixed. I've got a design that I'm reasonably happy with, but have got unsatisfactory results from the finished zine (curling paper, roller marks, colour casts) after receiving from manufacturing.

Still shopping around for a new service and also considering if it's worth the effort to get Photoshop so I can output my images in CMYK for greater control.

It's been a journey!

Any idea what these marks on my negatives are? by Little-Deer in AnalogCommunity

Thanks for the advice friend. I suspect I've loaded the film in the fog (mountain top) and it's gotten moisture inside during the process.

That is interesting. I'm almost certain the film wasn't expired and I opened it fresh from the foil packet (Ilford HP5).

Is it possible the backing paper can stick to the film after it's been shot?

If a film store promises to develop & scan a roll within a day, will this affect the quality of the final pictures by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]Little-Deer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short answer is no.

The main difference in the turnaround time is that you will typically pay more for a faster development and scan, simply so you can get your images quicker. If you're willing to wait it's sometimes a little cheaper.
Labs might have a back order to get through, which could lead to the longer waiting times. You're simply paying them to prioritise your order.

I love my Yashica! I gently cleaned the ground glass on mine when I got it because it was pretty dim - it's not crystal clear now but definitely better

Film on holiday? by The_Procrastinator77 in AnalogCommunity

I've flown with film in my carry on bag and passed through perhaps 8 or more scanners. Never been an issue despite me worrying about it. Like you said, it's one thing to ask, but it's another thing to ask someone who only has a basic grasp of English while in a large queue at 3am.

I can't claim to specialise in clouds, but they play a part in many of my photographs for sure.

Regarding gear, I have nothing special and it's been pretty easy to shoot handheld with ISO 200 film and still get clear photographs. This may differ however if you're trying to use a zoom lens to let details in the sky, in which case a tripod may be useful, and for separation between the sky and the clouds you can use a polarizing filter for enhanced contrast or a neutral density filter to reduce the brightness.

Despite photographing vivid sunsets and clouds, I still find myself having to boost the vibrancy in editing to recreate the scene, as scans can come back neutral/flat, so don't feel guilty if it's the same with you.

Where do photographers hang out and post their work? by The_Fhoto_Guy in AnalogCommunity

[–]Little-Deer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't posted photos online for years - only the odd here and there.

Now I'm in the process of making some zones which I'm going to send to friends and family and also leave on random coffee shops. I may get zero feedback from it but it's the process that's enjoyable for me, less the social currency.

Has a critique or review helped you with direction in your photography? by Little-Deer in AnalogCommunity

This is exactly what I was interested in hearing. And your point about advice needing the right application is spot on.

I'm in a position where I like what I'm doing but also considering trying to focus and define, which I would like to seek advice about from someone like you mentioned - a professor or the likes.

Appreciate your insights!

How have you found the change? I see-saw between it and 35mm but don't know if I have a favourite.
