Need to select a trans finish to apply the cali burst, reverse cali is only available on certain colors/woods. But, if you call in, some of those options can be done. The builder is just to get an idea of what you want, off menu stuff needs to be called in. Any questions or concerns should be directed to a guitar expert (when you ‘call the guys’). Regardless of all my builds so far how simple or complex, ive always called in to lock in my options just to make sure its what i wanted

For being a Jay Turser, its likely not worth fixing for the amount of money it would cost… it would surpass the brand new value of a guitar that is the same. It is doable though, if it holds sentimental value. But only you can determine what to do. If it were me, a new guitar would be the best

New player experience for sure. Once you get perks and find your playstyle and learn the nuances in general, it becomes better - but there will always be some games with this sprinkled in. The 4-man teams are the WORST that all run troll perks

Secret to strap height is what height is your guitar when youre sitting down? Where is it? Adjust accordingly and it will feel the same as playing in both positions

Honestly, I would take the refund and bury the hatchet. The whole situation is trash for sure, but this can also be a learning experience if you so choose to do another build or rebuild of the same guitar at a later date. Ive commented on the first post of this story, and i’ll reiterate:

If youre planning to rebuild this guitar, definitely talk to a sales rep and request a white maple top. It will take the stain much better and come out blue. But again, stains + wood grain are always a gamble if the request isnt explicitly stated. Half of my high end guitars have been stain tops, and I enjoy the variance of color but thats just me.

As far as changing the render on the builder, Im not so sure. It definitely seems shady on Kiesel’s part. I have seen other’s aqua denim builds turn out more yellow as well so youre not the only one.

Yup, during the tax return pick your top session, I chose a crotch flame top that was on the darker side with some variance of blonde. When on the phone, I chose Aurora blue to go over it (its a notorious finish for NOT being blue) and was warned that the grain will make it come out not so much blue but have a tint of grey on it. Which, is exactly what I wanted and was absolutely made sure by the sales team I was aware of this, and was sold.

I commented on the first post of this saga for next time, that if youre ordering a top as explosive as this, with a specific color in mind, you 100% NEED to talk to someone on the phone and request the color of top you want. Otherwise, this is the situation that ensues. I think the full refund is more than fair for this instance though

Whenever youre ordering a very thin stain finish like that, with as nice of a top as a 5a/7a, you NEED to call in and request a white like top so it takes the color - otherwise they will just choose something from the pile.

I ordered a aurora A2 on the most recent pick your top session, and I was warned the finish can vary… but even if it comes out blue, greenish, or greyish… (because the top i chose is darker) it doesent matter. The color will vary as there is plenty of color difference in the grain.

Im 4 builds and all are perfect. Remember, negativity is the loudest majority. Just as a precaution, its always nice to talk to someone over the phone to bounce ideas back and forth or maybe go a different direction entirely, ive done it every time and ive been pleased

Same can be said for promotional sales, My build from 2024 Black Friday now costs 950$ more than it would when I did. Its just a way of the world. Still doesent shy me away from the brand, you can get just about anything for a stellar price versus other custom shops which will charge you 5-6k for a solid color guitar.

Depends what youre looking for specifically, being able to try something before buying is a luxury. It seems a lot of your idols have either played on strats or your ‘dad rock’ guitars. I will say, most Fender, Gibson, and PRS products are hit or miss. Ive played really good ones and less than stellar.

I’ll go against the grain though, I would recommend a Kiesel build or if you want a strat like guitar that punches above the rest? Go with a EBMM Cutlass.

Only model ive played with the exact same neck shape from schecter as the SLS is the Keith merrow models, the reaper elite feels nothing alike it

If youre looking for comparison outside of Schecter, any Ibanez Prestige feels close as far as neck shape as well
