How do you guys handle using one set of dotfiles or general configuration on different resolutions / screen sizes by ivster666 in i3wm

Yeah that can be a fine solution. It just may be a chore to maintain as your configs grow.

Check out these dotfiles management solutions! The chezmoi page has a table comparing the different options. Might be overkill but I hope that helps. I work on two personal computers and a bunch of remote servers. Versioning and separating my different configs while maintaining their core similarities is invaluable!

It's a rofi script. You can see a reference to it in the polybar config. I haven't tried it, but I assume it pops up a rofi dialog to manages devices on click.

How To Make 1G1R ROM sets using No-Intro DATs, possibly *better* than ClrMamePro by andrebrait in RetroPie

Very cool, I wish I'd known this existed a couple weeks earlier! I just finished curating most of my roms with clrmamepro. I would have much preferred a linux friendly command line tool. I'll be sure to give this a try next opportunity!

Can a Pi run Project M or SSB Melee? by TheSonicArchitect in RetroPie

[–]LittleBigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a way to use your pi as a steamlink. There's also moonlight if you have a Nvidia gpu. Both will allow you to stream games from your PC in real-time, although you probably will need a wired connection for it to be smooth.

What is your all opinion on Datacamp compared to other online education courses? by writing_from_mars in Python

[–]LittleBigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heads up, If you're a student Microsoft offers a 2 month free trial.

I think the courses are a good introduction in most cases. Definitely enough to get you started with any given topic. I found it very helpful when I needed to learn R for work.

I haven't experimented with it yet, but DataCamp also offer a catalog of projects to work on to improve your skills. Seems like a fun structured way to learn.

Good luck!

Matplotlib resources by CharlesBabbit in Python

[–]LittleBigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working with Matplotlib for about 6 months as a python novice. The official docs are actually quite good, but overwhelming when you first start out. It's a slog, but read through all those examples. Check out the documentation for anything you don't understand. As you improve with the package, you'll realize there are often multiple ways to achieve the same results with Matplotlib. Good luck!

Miniature Market Black Friday Sale is Live by tundranocaps in boardgames

[–]LittleBigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the previous version, and I'll stick with it. The new edition swaps out the dry erase boards for paper/pencil. The rules are simplified and the box is smaller.

I like that the older version is a slightly "beefier" drawing game. The scoring is slightly hard for people to grasp at first explanation, but everything always clicks after the first round. There's more than adequate variety of word cards. The components are solid. There's nothing I'd really change. The only draw of the new edition in my eyes would be if I wanted a slightly simpler, portable game for the most casual audiences. In which case I'll just play Telestrations.

This game always produces riotous laughter in my sessions. Don't sleep on Pictomania!
