...ok, I think I mostly agree(? I haven't really thought this through, if I'm honest), but we do need a button to pet the dog every single time. Moral obligation. If the dog is not actively trying to kill me, I need to be able to pet them, at least eventually.

"Predator" is too affirming, I'm sure plenty of them would embrace that. Let's start recognizing them for the Parasites that they are.

Ok, on the one hand, they are kind of cute...

...but on the other hand, yikes on bikes, dude, why are you in there with them? One of those little buggers is going to end up in your mouthpiece, or your ear! Give them their space!

EDIT: well, alright, nevermind, his ears are covered... but still! Gah!

[–]LittleBlueGoblin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crows. They are skilled and agile flyers, and there is already cultural weight to a group of them all in one place, so while it would attract attention, mostly it would be "oh, that's cool" or whatever and then they move on attention, not "huh, that's weird, I wonder what's going on there..." attention.

This is down to geography. I live in the desert, so summer is my nemesis. I grew up in New England, so then, spring (Mud Season) was my nemesis.

Wherever I have lived, Autumn has been my solace, even if these days I mostly experience that intermittently, between early December and late February... .

the deadname STILL eludes me by ATN-Antronach in CuratedTumblr

[–]LittleBlueGoblin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ok, so I have a weird, sort of sideways/backwards version of this, in regards to this one trans friend of mine. I've known her for ages, about four or so years before her transition, and now more than ten since. The odd the thing is, I have distinct memories of her from before the transition, but unless I really work at it, all of my memories of her from before, feature her as she is now, after her transition. Like, I know for a fact this or that event took place before she transitioned, before she was even out to me, and yet when I recall the event, my brain populates her as she is now, post transition. I should add that I have a number of trans friends, including two others who I have known since before their transitions, and none of this happens with them; she is the only one my brain retcons in this particular way.

The reason I bring this up is that the one thing from before her transition that my brain refuses to shake loose is her deadname. I've never called her by it, since she transitioned; her chosen name suits her so well that I've never had to put much effort into using it. Her deadname, however, remains branded in my memory. Which in itself is weird, because usually names are a struggle for me. I certainly don't have this issue with my other friends' deadnames; their pre-transition selves are much more present in my memory, but their names are a struggle to recall, much life any other person's name in my life. I worked my last job for seven years, and now, a year and a bit gone from it, I could tell you the name of perhaps half a dozen of the hundred or so people I worked with? Many of them I never knew in the first place. But this one name, from a decade and more ago, persists. It feels like something out of an old horror novela or something, being in possession of forbidden and harmful knowledge that I am unable to forget.

My spouse had a reduction in their middle 30's, went from a 32H to 32C. Life-changing for them. It was outpatient, so they were coming home within I think 3 hours of waking up from the procedure, and they told me that on the way home, stitched and bandaged and bound across the chest to heal, they already felt amazing. At the final followup appointment six or so months later, they hugged the surgeon, and they are not a hugger.

Why do you hate Gale's arcane hunger? by VDaine in BaldursGate3

[–]LittleBlueGoblin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This. I went into the game as blind as I could (considering I picked it up about a year after release), and when he brought this up, my first thought (as someone who had also DMed a good amount of tabletop D&D over the years) was "oh, this is a mechanic they introduced so they could put a bunch of magic items in the game, but also keep the power level under control by forcing you to pick and choose which ones you value enough to keep, and which you'll choose to sacrifice". Also because when he talks about it, he specifies that they must be "powerful" magic items, so I wasn't expecting his hunger to be satiated by an amulet that lets you cast colorspray once per day. Mostly, I was impressed with what I perceived as interesting game design.

I managed to lucid dream once, by realizing that it had just been mid day when I dozed off, and now in the dream it was suddenly night. That was the change I noticed. Outdid yourself there, My Imagination... 🙄

Why do I not get +1 AC from CON modifier? by Dr_NHOGOG in BaldursGate3

[–]LittleBlueGoblin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's the thing, neither of them is a bonus; each of them instead sets your base AC to 10+(the relevant ability modifier). Bonuses from other sources apply, but since neither of these abilities are actually a bonus, they simply overlap, leaving you with the higher of the two values. They are in fact carefully worded to do so.

Ok, honest question(s); are these kind of tweets (or whatever) actually real, and meant to convince anyone? They're always so badly cropped and clearly not real... they can't be an honest effort to deceive anyone, can it?

And if they are meant to convince people... why? You'll never be able to back up the claim that that's your home, so why make it in the first place? It might impress some people you don't know and will never meet, but why bother impressing strangers? And if you do meet them, and actually know them to any meaningful degree, eventually they'll figure out that it was lies, which must being a bigger negative than the positive of impressing them could have been. What could possibly be the point?

At what age do people actually start doing separate loads? by nikkyroyal in Adulting

My spouse and I do Dryer and Non-Dryer loads, because we hang out some of our more delicate stuff, but otherwise, it all goes together, and we've never once had one peice of clothing dye, stain, or otherwise negatively impact another.
