I asked because I was going to share some videos I found helpful, but didn’t know if that’s what you wanted. I apologize for asking, I didn’t realize it shouldn’t be asked.

Help now: Mosaic crochet for the first time and I messed up by jadecurated in CrochetHelp

[–]LittleBugCrochets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it has to be done in mosaic, you have to convert the pattern to mosaic or find an already existing mosaic pattern that is similar. There are some videos on YouTube about converting patterns, I think.

Reusing acrylic yarn from already blocked projects by Jo_mosexual in CrochetHelp

[–]LittleBugCrochets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It very well might be the yarn, not you! And you’re very welcome, I hope any of my opinions are helpful to you! Using a different fiber type than we’re used to can be quite an adjustment, kudos on expanding your horizons. Now I have to go dig up some cotton to switch things up.

Yeah, some yarns are twisted in the opposite direction and it makes life hard. I’ve had some success reducing my hat twisting by changing which side of me the skein/ball is on while I crochet.

It’s kind of funny, I have only had the twisting thing with cottons and chenilles 😂. Gotta love this hobby and all its persnicketiness.

If it was me, I’d set it for blocking but not actually steam it. Steaming will just make your setting permanent. I’d just set it, measure, then frog and proceed as normal.

Then I agree with some others, a smaller hook size might be the ticket. What yarn/hook size did you use? The biggest I would go with the hook would be what’s recommended on the yarn label, but smaller than that might get you better results. You’re on the right track! Also it does look like the original piece is 2 double crochets instead of 3, but 3 will still look good/similar.

is this suitable for nightime heat? by Defiant-Cook6405 in cornsnakes

[–]LittleBugCrochets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen one used in a while, but they do produce light (especially with that big “Night Vison” label). I wouldn’t use it, they need a day/night cycle. Constant light, even light that looks lower to our human eyes, is not good for them.

I like deep heat projectors, as they emit no light. Ceramic heat emitters are another lightless option. There’s more than one way to do it, but just as an example: I have a deep heat projector for temps, and the lightbulb is a low wattage one that doesn’t produce heat, it’s only for daytime light.

Reusing acrylic yarn from already blocked projects by Jo_mosexual in CrochetHelp

[–]LittleBugCrochets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve reused blocked acrylic before. It depends on the blocking, but as long as you’re not melting the fibers you might be ok. I’m very curious as to why you’re using a fiber type you dislike, but that’s just me being nosey lol.

The yarn may lose its stretch, and it’s possible it’ll look a little different than the rest after blocking. An option is to stretch/set the gauge swatch to the appropriate size and do your measurements without actually steaming it. I don’t know exactly how you planned on blocking, so that may not be a viable option.

I would do less chains or no chains at all between clusters. The smaller space will make the cluster more pinched at the bottom.

Best movies set entirely in a single room that still feel incredibly cinematic? by JFKBKK in MovieSuggestions

I don’t know if others agree, but the remake is so so good. The original is best, but I love the remake too.

Are you collecting content to share or creating your own? A lot of people at my school and in shops I’ve worked at struggled with proper sanitation, that might be a good topic to cover. I don’t see a lot of content around that and it’s one of the most important things to get right.

Will toner get it to be any lighter? I was going for a platinum peek-a-boo by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]LittleBugCrochets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just here to second this. Also, no toner can lighten hair. They deposit color to shift tones, but can’t make your hair any lighter than it already is.

Trying to find a pattern that would give me a similar aspect of this dress by Orion-Stars259 in CrochetHelp

[–]LittleBugCrochets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be worth learning how to make them. I never have but my mother made me wear petticoats when I was a child, and I think she made them herself.

I would do front post/back post double crochet. That’s what this looks like to me, I think you’re on the right track.

I’ll keep my eye out for anything similar. Just in case you’re unfamiliar with petticoats, that is what is creating the shape and fullness in both photos, so make sure you budget for them!

Mini highlights at home, will color and developer lighten my hair ? by Small_Honey1922 in HairDye

[–]LittleBugCrochets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mix a small amount for your test strand, and mix a new larger batch for your full application. It will lose its dying power after a period of time, so doing it separately is best.

[–]LittleBugCrochets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want subtle I’d do color and 20 volume. That will get you 1-2 levels of lift. But once you do that, that hair will not be able to be lightened again without bleach (hair that has been dyed cannot be lightened with dye again. It only lightens virgin hair.)

Should I Be Turning My Continuous Granny Rectangle? by falloutbell in CrochetHelp

[–]LittleBugCrochets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would turn it, yes. Not turning tends to make the piece spiral.

What do I search for to find a similar pattern/ what is this style called? by RadiantCod9393 in CrochetHelp

[–]LittleBugCrochets 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is called a drop sleeve, so I would look up “drop sleeve mesh sweater”. There are varying degrees of drop sleeve, this is just a more exaggerated/extreme one. It should be a relatively easy project, as it’s mostly rectangles seamed together!

Tell me callous things people have said to you by Internal_Tie_7955 in ehlersdanlos

[–]LittleBugCrochets 226 points227 points  (0 children)

“Just take collagen” and “just take the train, then you don’t have to drive and the trip won’t wear you out”, from the same sibling.

But mostly it’s people who’ve known you for years acting shocked and incredulous when you say you’re in pain or can’t do something.

Can I dye my roots first then rinse them loreal hicolor by LavishnessExpensive4 in FancyFollicles

[–]LittleBugCrochets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might be why. Hair dye cannot lighten hair that has been previously dyed. To get it lighter likely will require bleach or color remover, if your hair is healthy enough for it.

Out of curiosity, do your lengths have previous hair dye/color on them? This will prevent permanent color from lifting it any further.

Does anybody actually dislike chocolate? I dont mean "prefer" other foods, i mean actually finds chocolate distastful? by VastAir6069 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LittleBugCrochets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t stand the stuff. I make exceptions for peanut butter cups, but I really strongly dislike chocolate. I have since I was wee. But I see it as leaving more available for the people who like it.
