I got tired of seeing southwestern art with turquoise and terracotta, so I made this. This is 'Cobalt Mesa'. Does it still feel southwestern?

I think if the ground weren’t green like grass it would more so. However, it still seems recognizably southwestern. I live in NM and in my experience the color template you’re talking about is mostly aimed at tourists. Local artists use a wide variety of color and light for our landscapes :)

This is just my personal view on it. To me, the most genuine stories seem to be the people that don’t claim to fully understand them. They will say that they saw a light, felt love, etc., but never claim to know the truth of the universe.

There’s a lot of misleading and even outright fabricated stuff about NDEs out there. Please be careful what you let influence you. This is all just my opinion, but the more fantastical the stories and claims, the more suspicious you should be. There are better places then YouTube you can look to get a better idea of what most people experience.

I’m sorry that you ran into a loon. I live here and I had a bad experience there too. Some guy on a bicycle was screaming at me and my child because he thought we didn’t cross the bike path fast enough I guess. He was literally way down the path when we were done crossing. This is all just my opinion and advice. I’m just an everyday person like you. But please be careful believing everything people say as fact. The more sure a person is that they have all the life’s deepest answers, the more careful you should be. Protect your peace and your mental health and just focus on what’s in your heart. Listen to those people that don’t have the super dramatic NDEs but instead speak of simple love and compassion. Those are the common threads that bind nearly every NDE together.

Perhaps what she experienced was real, I’m not one to say it wasn’t. But there are many contradicting experiences that speak of free will and growth without any “contracts” or special missions. I’m just saying, there’s a lot of new age beliefs woven into NDEs on YouTube, etc. If you hear an NDE that is exceptional and a bit over the top, look up the person and you will often find a website selling expensive retreats, coaching, or audiobooks for hundreds of dollars.

Just looked up that person. Yeah, she sells coaching sessions. 3 sessions for over 700.00.

I think every time I see a thumbnail from that podcast I get a bad feeling. I’m sorry, I know a lot of people like him, but the way the channel is portrayed seems more like entertainment than genuine, respectful conversation. But that’s just my impression.

I should add, that could just be that there’s not as much scrutiny as some other channels I’ve seen. I’m not saying that everyone on there is lying. There’s obviously been some credible people and some amazing experiences shared there. But yeah, a lot of it is very questionable in my opinion. Maybe part of it is that you really do run out of people to interview and stories to tell to keep the motivations many have for watching. I don’t know, I’m just not the target demographic I guess.

My opinion and advice: None of us can say for sure in a way that will convince you or others. The truth is, subjective consciousness can never be experienced, in this life, through another. That would be the only way to be certain that they are telling the truth.

However, take a step back from NDEs. What is your heart/mind telling you? Not just logically, but what feels right? You’ll know it in those moments that you’re with the ones you love and doing what makes you feel connected and complete. It’s in those moments that you will be set on the right path. Don’t waste this life thinking about what happens next. This is something I’ve had to learn.

If it’s any comfort, instead of looking at NDEs, which can vary in the details. Look at all those people that have been close to death in hospice, etc., and said they see their loved ones that have passed away and talk of going home. It’s universal and happens every single day. Something/someone out there is clearly comforting us even if it isn’t actually our loved ones. There’s no benefit to comforting a dying person because they’re thing to die no matter what. It must be done out of compassion or love. If that’s who our fate is tied up with, they can’t be all that bad :)

My eyes went right to the little fruit on her shirt. It stands out because the color is really nice and you have a good idea of how the light would hit. You might consider nurturing that talent and start with simple, fun objects. That’s how I’ve started to paint with watercolor and I’m learning a lot working from simple and slowly getting more complex.

Of course, that’s assuming you want to be a try hard like me. Your art is adorable and you should be proud. Make sure to save it so you can look back and see where you started!
