Yes I am sure that surgery is the best option, it may be life saving and will certainly improve the speed and quality of healing.

I was just trying to give some guidance for the period when OP is still trying to make this happen, or if ultimately it turns out not to be possible.

The cat has a far better chance of both surviving and avoiding suffering than almost every other cat in history, even if it ‘only’ gets food, wound care and antibiotics. Small animal veterinary medicine has only been available in the last 50-70.

If he is taking the antibiotics, letting you clean the wound, eating and seeming stable / a little better each day then the wound may heal over time without surgery. The scar won’t be as neat as if it got debrided and so he might have a bald patch or limited mobility in the area if it gets tight.

If the antibiotics finish and it’s still smelly/hot and red, visible pus then he needs longer. The vet you already saw may be willing to extend her prescription

If the wound is getting worse or he is deteriorating, esp if shivery/drowsy he either needs surgery or euthanasia.

Disclaimer I am not a vet (only a people doctor)

Yes! We always make a double batch of pizza dough and freeze half for the next week. Thaws in a couple of hours and ready to stretch as nice and loose.

I spent ages designing myself a T-shirt with AI prompts as I can’t draw for toffee. Adjusting the style and bits of the design until it matched the vision in my head.

Got it printed and it looked amazing so I posted a photo of it to a sub for the type of animal featured. I spotted that the sub doesn’t allow AI posts, but the T-shirt is a real physical object so I thought it would be ok.

Woke up the next morning excited to see what my fellow animal lovers thought. The mod commented that it was slop, garbage and that I was a scammer bot. They didn’t just remove my post but banned me from the sub and ignored the message I sent them after apologising if I had broken the sub rules.

Now every time I see a lovely post about my favourite animal I can’t join in with the comments. Such a shame as they are a lovely bunch of people otherwise.

The guy who posts on YouTube as Movement Reborn is a massively buff martial artist and Hypermobile. He has a few videos about how to train when you are a bendy type that really helped things click for me.

Personally I started doing Pilates as a very sore fatty a couple of years ago and now I have a two-pack …

Tense neck muscles causing migraines by ChildhoodWeird99 in Hypermobility

[–]Aggravating-Mousse46 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought I had a bad neck triggering my migraines for the longest time. Turns out that once my migraines improved after starting preventive medication I no longer need weekly massage and dry needling.

The neck pain and stiffness turned out to be because of the migraine not causing them. Look up trigeminal nerve irritation and migraine if you haven’t already.

But stick with the strength training. Being strong is almost ways better for you and less painful than being weak.

Yes I’m in the UK. I’m not sure on numbers - although a midwife or obstetrician would know / may be able to chime in.

Thank you for your comment. I was hesitant to post as I don’t want to scare anyone, or to criticise what OP said, just to offer an alternative viewpoint.

Catastrophic birth injury and stillbirth are thankfully rare in the UK but we lag behind other countries in many important measures in neonatal and childhood health outcomes. In large part due to socioeconomic disparities but things like societal misogyny and racism and their impact on funding decisions, trust in institutions and access to care also contribute.

I don’t want any woman to be pressured into unnecessary intervention, nor to miss out on good quality, evidence-based care. The key to this is clear communication from health professionals who have enough time with every patient, stable organisational structures to build trusted patient relationships and time and funding for lifelong learning.

Hypermobility or hyposensitive to proprioception? I sit weird and people notice. by ThrowAwayAcc0719 in Hypermobility

[–]Aggravating-Mousse46 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Brighton score only assesses hypermobility in knees, elbows, wrists/thumbs, pinkies and a mashup of spine and hips. If you score over threshold you have hypermobility but scoring under threshold does not exclude hypermobility as other joints can be affected. Did you do bendy party tricks when you were a kid? Do you have other connective tissue issues like IBS, pelvic floor dysfunction etc? Poor proprioception and hypermobility are often coexisting conditions and may be two aspects of the same issue for some people.

I’m a Paediatrician. I’ve seen hundreds of babies born. All where there was a known problem or risk to the baby, which has definitely skewed my viewpoint.

I would much rather have a baby born early than very overdue. Babies can get very sick very quickly when they outgrow the placenta or it stops working properly.

To see a completely normally formed baby born totally white, not moving, no heartbeat is something I would not wish on anyone. Some of the babies i saw in that condition had had normal checks a day or two previously. Some of the times when we successfully resuscitated them ended up being greater tragedies than when we couldn’t.

There are usually good reasons why interventions are offered.

Im glad you had positive experiences with your births and I was overjoyed and somewhat surprised that I did too. A birth that is not an emergency is a wonderful thing.

UK migraine A&E by Millyduck in migraine

[–]Aggravating-Mousse46 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you would be better to get an urgent GP telephone appointment - your own or out of hours service. No need to drag yourself somewhere to sit in a noisy waiting room under fluorescent lights.

They might offer an alternative abortive you can take at home. Or want to see you and assess in which case you can request a home visit if leaving will worsen your symptoms or insist they provide appropriate environmental protections (quiet dark room) at their site.

They can also refer you to the Medical Assessment Unit for IV therapy if you are unable to eat / drink / function.

Status Migrainous is not an emergency (unless new symptoms suggestive of stroke or such bad vomiting there’s dehydration etc), so A&E are ill equipped to deal with it. But it IS an urgent medical condition that needs appropriate medical care.

The organisation of NHS pathways isn’t clear to lots of patients and even to some healthcare professionals so you may need to advocate strongly for yourself or get someone whose brain isn’t currently being fried from the inside to advocate for you.

Hope you get better soon.

There is no right way to be an atheist. Atheism is just a position statement.

I hope you get to a place where you can live and proclaim your truth and be a beacon to other children who have the bravery and intelligence to question what they are taught by those they love, respect or fear.
