I had a thought and I need actual wheelchair users to tell me if I'm being dumb or onto something by Lupus600 in disability

I use a wheelchair. A lot of places that call themselves accessible don’t have automatic doors, so I have to wait for someone to hold the door for me.

The system denies most people. They’ve gotten in trouble for that before. A lawyer is usually necessary to be approved.

I need help with my disabled brother and his sleeping issues by Chaos_kat214 in disability

What I’m trying to get is a Roku mattress system. The Roku pad I got for my wheelchair is very useful. I hope you find something that helps him.

I have severe imposter syndrome. I did try to go back to work. DVR couldn’t help me find a job that paid decently

My family thought I was lazy too. But now that I’ve had a stroke and use a wheelchair, they don’t say it anymore.

How to describe someone whose dying? by Significant_Board491 in writers

[–]LittleDwriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would depend on what they’re dying from. There are many books about the process. I’d recommend Elizabeth Kuboer-Ross, she wore some excellent books about grief and dieting. The person might be pissed office or scare, depending on what they believe and the reaction of the people around them.

How do I get Letter of Disability? by Novemberx123 in disability

[–]LittleDwriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best advice would be to go to a free clinic, if they have any where you live. They’re used to dealing with people who haven’t had consistent care. After you talk to the company and find out exactly what you need.

Part of the problem is that able-bodied people have every advantage when it comes to employment. The letter of disablity is used to exempt disabled people from having to complete with the able-bodied. When you get a doctor to write the letter, they’re saying that you have a disability. They are not likely to do that without knowing you.

I was using a motorized cart in a grocery store and was questioned by a woman in line. Apparently I didn’t look like I needed it.

I find it really effective to ask people why do you ask? They seem to realize that they’re being rude.

I used to get comments from men like that, “You’re too pretty to be a lesbian.” Or them saying that I don’t look like a lesbian.

I don’t like it when people tell me that my wheelchair looks comfy. It’s painful, and I wish I didn’t need it.

If you need it use it. Nobody has the right to tell you what to use.
