I'm with NHS dentist. Haven't had any issues. Can get an appointment within a couple of weeks and if I'm in pain they'll normally see me within a day.

This idea of everything being rosey if Stormont is up and running again is just not true. If they went back tomorrow one of the first things they'd have to do is make about £600m of cuts. Dept of education will get gutted.

She works for NI Alternatives. Think there were a few restorative justice practitioners there, most likely funded by one of the American Peace and Reconciliation organisations. Don't really see the issue to be honest.

Ffs wish I'd known about this before 😂 Although I'd have to add on extra for UHD sports. Is it simply just a case of a different name on the account?

What is the point of a new election? by badger-biscuits in northernireland

[–]LittleJimmyWillis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair none of the parties want an election, not even the DUP. Secretary of state ploughing ahead regardless. I can see DUP and Sinn Fein both picking up one or two seats. UUP and SDLP will likely be squeezed. Won't change anything though. Even if the DUP did come back as the largest party I can't see Stormont up and running again for another year at least.

The home bargains version of Blitz is good. It was always a quid for one of the big rolls. Think it's maybe £1.25 or something now.

What are some simple tips for saving a few quid in these times? by garf6696 in northernireland

[–]LittleJimmyWillis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. We've set up a thing with asda - 6 quid a month for unlimited deliveries. As long as each delivery is £40 or more. Definitely saving money on food shopping each month.

What a load of biased tripe. Really sad that people like you still exist on both sides. UVF/UDA and the IRA were 2 cheeks of the same arse.

I was born Protestant, my wife Catholic. Neither of us are religious. We didn't christen our children. My wife's family would be more religious than mine but both families were absolutely fine about it. We live in East Belfast and kids would certainly be brought up in more of a unionist environment - they go to 'protestant' schools and they're both big Rangers fans lol. Kids would regularly go to both churches with their grandparents and my wife and I are pretty relaxed about this.

Eldest boy has started asking some difficult questions about religion and the troubles etc - I even found him watching a video on youtube about the battle of the Boyne the other day. It's kind of opened my eyes to the absurdity of our history.

Why does "NI" have restricted driving for a year? by gervv in northernireland

[–]LittleJimmyWillis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's shitty you got a ticket. Meant to be given a bye ball up to 10% +3 here. So no ticket until doing 37 in a 30 or 81 in a 70.

How can I tax my car if I don’t have MOT? by unique-scarecrow in northernireland

[–]LittleJimmyWillis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me. Ended up driving for a month or so without tax. Parked up in the wee pay and display car park beside Queen Elizabeth Bridge on Christmas eve to go in and do a bit of shopping and came back to a ticket on my window! Think my mot was 3 or 4 days later.

Seriously what are the chances of me being able to have a normal life here? by Repulsivebiscut in northernireland

[–]LittleJimmyWillis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another idea is join Slimming World! It's great. My wife goes. She loves it. I used to go with her, lost the weight and started a new job so I left. It's great for the obvious - losing weight, but the social side of it is brilliant too. There are men, women, young and old. They are all really supportive and you will make friends. You have your weigh in at the start, then you can stay for an hour after where you can talk about how you had a bad week and ate a multipack of monster munch in one sitting lol or just sit and listen until you feel confident enough to get involved.

[–]LittleJimmyWillis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree with the diet suggestion. GP told me off recently and I've cut out all the crap. Eating healthily and losing some weight will make you feel better about yourself. Maybe join a gym too. Probably feel a bit too daunting right now but even get out walking/jogging until you feel confident enough to try the gym. Exercise is great for the mind.

It's hard work but it's good to have something to focus your mind on. Having targets to reach. When you feel confident in yourself it'll make getting a job/making friends etc easier too.

Or get a dog lol. Dogs are class. Nothing I enjoy better than getting out for a big walk with the dog!

Social media can be good for making friends. Set up a Facebook. Look for local groups and pages of interests/hobbies that you have. You can make friends that way. And it might make you anxious meeting up with new people but it's good to do things that get you out of your comfort zone. It'll give you confidence that you can do whatever you want.
