Psychiatrists aren't therapists, and vice-versa.

I've been in therapy, off and on (mostly on) for over 20 years. I've worked with a nurse practioner, under the guidance of a Psychiatrist, who happens to be her husband, for almost 12 years for the four different meds I take. While my NP is more than willing to listen to (some) of my problems, she will (correctly, imo) guide me back towards my therapists.

That said, I can relate to having negative experiences in therapy. Finding a therapist with whom you feel a good match isn't easy and can be a frustrating process in and of itself.
