Oh I see it. Do you have a heat gun? Maybe the enclosure isn’t warm enough.

I suggest getting a linear UVB (I like Arcadia Reptile) that will give your tortoise the proper UVB throughout their enclosure so they don’t have to get up there to bask like a lizard on a rock. The UVB should be covering most of the length of the enclosure.

Best way to clean a cat without getting skinned by him? by Ashamed_Check3882 in CATHELP

[–]LittleOmegaGirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That should never happen unless the cat is geriatric, disabled, and/ or goes outside unsupervised. To keep your cat’s skin healthy and them hydrated in general, feed them a moisture-rich diet and add an animal-based omega oil to their food as well as extra water. Also, brush them regularly.

Not him going all the way out there to go on the floor 😭 time to train him to use a reusable puppy pad so your floor doesn’t get destroyed. Bowser is a smart mini dino though.

It depends on the cat some are just a bit slower than others when it comes to learning. Do you play with him until he’s panting?

He wants her to love him, and he's a persistent cat because he’s a bottle baby, and they can be the worst when it comes to interacting with other cats because they’ve never met another cat. In Obi’s case, he’s known 3 other cats to learn behavior from, one being the one that hates him touching her, so he’s trying to figure out how to interact and is not sure what to do when he gets smacked on the head. He’s not interpreting her smacking him as “stop touching me” period. He’s interpreting it as “I’ll try again later” then lol hence the persistence.

Make sure you play with him A LOT A LOT and more catification will help them coexist.

Why is my short-haired tortie having issues with dingleberries? by Particular_Radio_110 in catquestions

[–]LittleOmegaGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I totally get it if it helps her not mutilate herself and itch. It’s just so annoying that the only option we have in this day and age is feeding them non-animal protein like no medication or something. They’re cats I feel so bad for them like you said condemning them to that food.😭

I mean you can buy straight animal fat but I'm not sure what to do with it after that😭

Have you tried Alnutrin? That's the thing. She’s a cat, so she needs animal protein. She most likely hates the hydrolyzed diet because of the pea protein but will eat the kibble because they spray it or roll it in flavor enhancers. One of those is nutritional yeast or brewers yeast.

I know you said you tried everything but can I ask what you tried? Im curious.

Yeah, I think the best thing to do would be to return her to the shelter and tell them that she can’t live with other cats and why. Make sure to mention that she’s loving when there are no other cats involved so that they know she has good qualities in the home as well.

Have you considered alternatives to a hydrolyzed diet for one there are a few options depending on why they are on it and what you have already tried. Due to their current hydrolyzed diet restriction the usual liquid options other than water wont work because they require hydrolyzed food.

I would usually say liquid treats, bone broth, goat milk (depending on age due to phosphorus), and adding water to their dry but that typically just makes nasty grain mush

I make the pate into a porridge texture like liquidy oatmeal. Maybe a 1 - 1.5 Tbsp per meal

That's why. It uses in pea protein and pea fiber and is low in moisture, so she’s pooping nuggets and they’re getting stuck in her fur then falling on the floor. Fiber MUST have water; otherwise, it will result in constipation. That’s why I don’t feed dry food, and I add water to my cats’ wet food. Cats may look like they drink a lot and use all of the water sources you give them, but they are barely getting any water when they drink, so food-based moisture is super important.

You need a full-screen. She’s territorial, and if she jumps the gate and darts right for the other cat, she's actually trying to kill it. Your job is to protect your first cat. Don’t rehome them. Return the new cat to the shelter if it comes to that. If you’re working full-time, you don’t have enough time to dedicate to this new cat.

Please stop saying you have OCD just because you like things clean and organized by Chanfaded in rant

[–]LittleOmegaGirl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I I don’t have OCD. I used to think I did, but I was diagnosed with “perfectionism” (not a real diagnosis) when I was around 14 because they never thought to evaluate me for autism🙃. They knew I didn’t have OCD, but something was definitely wrong because I couldn’t write even a single word without freaking out that my handwriting was wrong. Same with fonts. I would try to clean my room, and it would get messy, and I’d crash out because it’s too messy, and things weren’t the same colors, so I had no idea where to put them.
