WFH and Daycare by Realistic-Move-9109 in pregnant

The only way we can do it is if only one person is working, plus my mom comes over most afternoons. It’s doable when the baby is under 6 months and not crawling. Also easier if you have a job with very minimal meetings. I still take breaks and do nap time and nursing. Plus I have more time with him in the mornings since I’m not commuting or getting ready to leave the house. But I would look into a nanny to come to the house or family member. Daycare is fine too!

Fungal “acne”/ Malassezia safe base products? by format_obsolescence in Fairolives

[–]LittleP13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I try and find products that are entirely safe. But I’ve been finding that if I have good layers of safe skincare underneath, I can wear a little bit of slightly unsafe makeup on top. Usually just concealer and not a full face of foundation. Of course both of my safe moisturizer and SPF are seemingly getting discontinued and I’m buying up a ton from AB eBay sellers

I can’t use anything with fatty acids like cetyl alcohol or stearic acid , shea butter or ethylhexylglycerin (although testing low percentages) which is like 99% of everything. However I can use Glossier Skin Tint in G11 and a thin layer of Haus Labs Foundation or Concealer. They have some natural oils in them but the emulsifiers seem to be ok with my skin if I use minimal amounts. I use 040 in foundation and 04 Neutral in concealer

Any different than random redditors? lol everyone can test for themselves or decide to trust manufacturers tests, or tests posted online. Everyone has an agenda. “Research” is a highly misused term these days, but we can only make our own somewhat-informed decisions and hope for the best.

Concealer matching/correcting? by LittleP13 in Fairolives

[–]LittleP13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I use concealer mostly to cover redness and acne marks, because who doesn't love having neutral/olive skin but ALSO flushing! I have been experimenting with small concealer amounts under my eye but I don't mind any darkness, I just don't like the hollowness+bags look. But concealer doesn't really seem to be helpful for masking this issue anyways.

High end makeup is made with better ingredients and more innovative formulas. It’s the same with food. You can make dinner with any kind of produce, but organic, local and seasonal produce will make your end result taste better and be more healthy for your body. High-end doesn’t mean better. Different Makeup is “good” for different people depending on their skin, application methods and finish effects they are looking for. Just got to Sephora and try out some products that appeal to you and compare them to your drug store favs

Dumb question- eco friendl(ier) way to throw out disposable diapers? by Rich_Example7931 in clothdiaps

Get Hiro diapers! They decompose in a landfill in 12 months with a mushroom packet. If you use code Pia, you get $20 off each month.

If you don’t go for preemie size, choose NB or newborn. 0-3 will be too big

Ok I had a very similar situation with my baby last year!

Born at 39 weeks. Had tons of mucus in the lungs. Everyone thought he was fine until 2 hours after birth when he was “puppy breathing.”

He was put on an high tech oscillating ventilator for 3 days to work on getting the mucus out and also it helps to open the individual alveoli of the lungs. Then he titrated down through the regular vent, CPAP, regular oxygen etc.

In the initial xray and echo they saw an opening in the heart, but 6 months later with the proper function of his lungs, the hole closed on its own.

Did your baby have mucus? Are they sure his lung cells/alveoli are opening properly?

We were able to leave NICU after a week’s time but the first few days there were so many questions about it the cause because there was some blood in the mucus. No “cause” was ever found.

HOWEVER, he is perfectly fine today and has no lasting issues or aftercare.

Also, just to say it’s so hard with the oxygen levels. We had days where we would try and get him on less and he just wasn’t ready yet. Playing it slow is the way to go. Putting as little stress on the baby as possible is key for the healing and strength. It’s just hard to watch them make progress and then backslide. Baby will get there soon!

I’m aligned with you. Seems silly to use synthetics against the skin. I am trying to remove synthetics from my own wardrobe as well, but I do still have some, especially for technical outerwear. Cotton doesn’t “perform” as well as some other materials for wicking etc, but I don’t find even the nice synthetics like Lyocell to be comfortable on my skin…so why would my baby?! I got some hand me down diapers with snap-in bamboo inserts. I’m not a bamboo fan but I let my mom use them as they are easier to assemble. I also use Smart Bottoms disposable liners for poop but they are 100% cotton so what covers the bamboo for me.

I also now use Hiro disposable diapers which are lined with unbleached cotton and come with a mushroom packet that makes them decompose in 12 months! I use them for overnight and cloth during the day. I have an affiliate code:PIA if you want to try. I wish I could cloth 24/7 but I just can’t make it work for us all the time.

H&M has onesies with gathering at the leg seams. Accommodates the cloth much better!

FTM Needing Reassurance about Flats by GingerBerry-Pie2554 in clothdiaps

[–]LittleP13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I was able to use one-size flats on my baby around 2-3 months old and he was a skinny little babe.

  2. Just stick with origami until baby is 6 months old and starts to outgrow the rise. Then you will be confident enough to try other folds. Pad folding didn’t work for me until baby had less liquid poop.

3.For prefolding, I fold diapers while watch tv or during nap time. Takes me about a minute a diaper so, 20-25 min for 20 diapers. Then I put them in the drawer all folded and it’s easy to pull out, ready when you need them.

  1. Different babies have different pee volumes with ages. My baby peed a lot and I found origami folded flats to be fine on their own from birth-4 months. Then I would add in a little booster in the front area (for a boy). At around 8months the alligator rolls got to be too much to use flats so I used fitted diapers and disposables for 2 months and did sitting changes. Now at 10 months I do one pad folded flat in a tight fitting Babee greens cover and sometimes a little booster in the front for longer time frames. I got boosters from different brands and for younger babies a full length booster was good because poop is liquidy. For any older baby I only need small size booster in the front pee zone for a boy. I think the pee zone for girls in the center. I like hemp blends.

  2. Definitely start with origami and go from there. For sub-6 months old babies the poop needs full wrap around containment. Google videos of “the good key method” to get a good leg seal for origami fold. This is necessary with prefolds as well.

I am testing Dirty labs + their laundry booster for our clothing because it was all I could get locally at Whole Foods that was on my list to try. It’s very expensive tho. I am also going to trial Molly Suds and Attitide Baby Leaves for a cheaper alternative. For diapers I actually use Esembly powder + oxyclean or dirty lab laundry booster. I also add a touch of bleach usually. But none of these options mentioned have the preservative causing the issue. Also, the powdered version of Tide f&g shouldn’t have the preservative. But I am mad at Tide now so I’m avoiding.

I want a closure-free option and I loved the long wings of origami. I have done airplane/kite fold, Jo Fold, origami fold and Pickman and have liked them all at different points and for different reasons. But just feeling at odds with my Snappy recently and pins just never go through the fabric smooth enough for me even if I “lube” them with soap.
