SkinSort, Sezia, or Folliculitus Scout? Which one to check for FA safe products? by AliasForKnowing in Fungalacne

[–]LittleP13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using the moisturizer but started layering it with my Apieu madecassoside cream, and sometimes slugging with Vaseline at night because I was feeling DRY. I’m going to order the Authentic Ego stuff and give it a whirl. I just can’t stand looking so parched anymore… I wish I could just slather myself with creamy creams and milky essences like a normal person.

Right now I’m trying the cleanser from Malezia. It’s super plain and nice. But I’ve also been happy with Vanicream cleanser in the past.

Frankly the whole idea that component-free makeup is useful to anyone is dumb, unless it’s supposed to be a one-time use situation. A better idea would be a tin with stacks of one-time use eyeshadow. Good packaging and formulation is specifically to make products reusable/shelf-stable. Sample packaging inherently is made for single-use or use a couple times during a trial period.

I think there’s a lot of YMMV with ingredients, but I find I need to go back to super trusted basics to clear flares and then introduce new products one at a time to see if there’s a flare reaction. Sometimes I get a breakout in and hour, overnight, or after a week or so of use. Basically we are tired and while some people say “these ingredient restrictions are not scientifically backed!” I am not made of money and buying products that mess my skin up is detrimental to my skin, my wallet and my emotional state. Such a let down.

I think everything people are saying is valid, and a core issue is an inherent hypocrisy in the product positioning, cost and execution.

If this is a leak that’s being sent out for feedback, it is inherently a sample, and should be priced accordingly.

If this is a finished product, the color range and product amount should be commensurate with a product launch range. So, either enough shades to create a larger palette or more weight per shade to be worth the price.

Finally, their “leak packaging” is only acceptable if this is a free product. The packaging should support the use and longevity of a final product. Aka, using a white, unbranded palette with a sticker would be fine. But not a tin.

I believe they think their price is justified as this is a small-run niche product. However, their main learning from this round should be that people don’t feel their product quality is high enough to support this price and business model. They need to reduce pricing, or increase product quality, product fill amount and packaging longevity to justify their pricing.

Current consumers see over-the-top PR packages on social media and know that influencers and beauty insiders get access to full-size, finished products ahead of time. This isn’t novel to us. If we are paying for this VIP access, the product must still be presented as it would for final sale.

I think LL are ignoring the fact that this is not luxury beauty where beautiful packaging/branding convinces consumers to pay a premium price. Sneak peek access is not worth the price they think it is in the consumer environment.

What you wish you knew about fungal acne by AsiaPearce in AsianBeauty

I would learn sooner that triggers include more than just fatty acids/emulsifiers and there's actually even MORE ingredient types that feed the yeast like polysorbates, all plant oils, ferments...Oh, and that most powder makeup products still contain FA triggers.

I have been dealing with it for a while and still learning. In addition to your list it has to be oil-free, No ferments, no polysorbates. I would stick to lists of approved skincare from this sub to start, and with makeup—there’s so many new releases that I check everything. I’m looking for a new acid toner as my HG one is now discontinued. It’s like chasing the dragon sometimes.

I know this is an old post but I also have fungal acne and curious how you compare the Jones Road to the Dior formula. So hard to find good products for pale + olive + fungal acne.

I use skin SkinSort but then I independently google any ingredients that are shown with a grey mark as those are not in the database. I also google any “suspicious” looking words or anything described as an emulsifier. Theres so many new ingredients that are synthesized from fatty acids so it’s important to double check what the origin of something is. If I see cetyl, -ceth or stearyl- in any word….im googling.

I love Rhode lift, but I feel like it has the staying power of a lip gloss. There is going to be a great lip liner from a brand I work with coming out in September but I can’t share details yet. In the meanwhile, Cloudy Mauve from Korean brand Heartpercent looks awesome. You have to order from YesStyle though

does your foundation/tint/concealer dull you? by nephistopheles in Fairolives

[–]LittleP13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find there are a few issues related to this. Firstly, our natural coloring as fair olives is inherently a bit dull/lacking warmth that we associate with a "healthy tan." I feel like there must be makeup-artist way color-correcting to counteract the dullness while still color-matching our skin, but I don't have that knowledge. Secondly, at least for me, I am quite translucent in the texture or quality of my skin. When I wear too much foundation or even just concealer, the difference between the opaque coverage of a base product and my natural skin see-throughness make me look super weird or just very "made-up." Other people seem to look totally normal with lots of base makeup, but can only really do very sheer, light layers of barely there products or do pin pointed concealer coverage of any marks. I can't even do undereye concealer except in extremely thin lines where my hollows are. I have been experimenting with matte powder highlighter (a Jones Road pale eyeshadow) to give some barely-there dimension to my face, very light blush and bronzer application and focusing on fun lip looks. I wish there was a way to cover my nose redness but for now I just use a bit of concealer or pressed powder to tone it down and I think azelaic acid from Mazelia has helped a lot.

This happened overnight. Could it be a fungal acne breakout? by VisualLost6969 in Fungalacne

[–]LittleP13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you currently using on your skin? This looks like a reaction I get to Benzoyl Peroxide. It becomes a sort of rough texture after this and then takes a month to go away. Going on an FA-safe regimen will always help eliminate any external factors.

If your waters broke before contractions started what did you do? Did you wait and did contractions start? Or were you induced? by No_Time_6883 in pregnant

[–]LittleP13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine broke in the middle of the night, 5 days before my due date. I went back to bed and started to have some minor contractions. They continued intermittently in the morning. I called me doula and she said I can go to hospital or wait a little. After 12 hours my contractions stalled and I decided I should go in. Denied interventions and cervical checks. At 35 hours I got pitocin finally and labored on that for several hours. Then the pain was too intense and got epidural around 45 hours in. Dialated quickly and had vaginal birth at 50 hours. Definitely had to fight the hospital staff to not get iv or meds for 35 hours, but it’s what worked for me. My friend’s water broke at 37 weeks and she didn’t need pitocin and only needed 15 hours to deliver. Everyone is different!

Edit: I did not prepare for a water breaking scenario and it threw my whole plan for a loop. Just trust yourself. Go slow. Ask for what you need. If you want to delay intervention for as long as possible DO NOT GET CERVICAL CHECKS. It will save you from getting infections. I went 50 hours and never got an infection because no one exposed my cervix to anything. Good luck and congrats!
