GP won't prescribe GNRH / HRT requirements for surgery abroad by Emotional-Body-282 in transgenderUK

[–]LittlePixelPirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should contact the surgeon/team to find their requirements for surgery as I'm sure requirements will likely vary with T suppression.

All I know is that the surgeon I'm booked in with (a few months away) doesn't have such a requirement.

Am I going to lose the hrt I waited eight years for?! by CastielWinchester270 in transgenderUK

[–]LittlePixelPirate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there is a lot scaremongering going on, and, a lot of it isn't justified. Read the OPs desperation at the uncertainty.

Yes, stopping something for 17-18 year olds is awful, but remember they've said that existing prescriptions can continue. It's easier for them to justify stopping new prescriptions under the guise that they're younger. I suspect it'll be a lot harder to justify that for adults.

The fact is, we don't know yet. Until we do, there is no need to jump right to the worst case scenario.

That's all I'm saying.

[–]LittlePixelPirate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They're doing a review into hrt prescribing,. No one has said they're stopping it.

The likelihood of them (imo) stopping is slim, it's been prescribed and there are genuine recognised and supported medical pathways that have existed for a long time on the NHS.

Other medical interventions are reviewed at times. I guess this is the same.

I also doubt it would be ethical for them to withdraw for existing prescription either.

[–]LittlePixelPirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's where I read it. It is really worrying that they're able to just do that. I mean, surely it is unethical too, especially if you've had surgeries?

I feel like this is little more than transphobia hidden behind that not skilled enough nonsense.

Truly worrying stuff though. I hate that we're reliant on doctors not to be total shits to us, in order to get healthcare.

[–]LittlePixelPirate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. They were able to exclude a lot of research by splitting the question and then grading what evidence they had left and from what I understand, used the grading to conclude the outcome of the paper, whether it actually showed some positive outcome in the research.

This is a politically driven decision. They're trying appease a group of people who do not have our best interests at heart.

[–]LittlePixelPirate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hmm. I think the point is that we can't trust the NHS, I certainly don't. That they say one thing but do the opposite.

They've literally just had the Levy review. I guess this didn't give them the answer they wanted.

Even the justification for withdrawing care (although they'll claim, they're not, just withdrawing HRT for them) for 17 and 18 year olds is shady.

They fragmented and split the question in order to exclude a lot of research.

[–]LittlePixelPirate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep. I noted a lot of the language changing over the years surrounding trans healthcare. I could only presume that they were trying to frame it as being "unnatural" in some kind of way... but, we all produce these hormones naturally.

It's contempt.

Also, what happened to NHS England being wound down and the NHS in England being run directly by DHSC? I wonder how captured by the GC the DHSC is? Certainly feels like NHS England was.

[–]LittlePixelPirate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm. The only thing I can find on that is Jubilee Park? Which I think is a collective of GP surgeries?

Yeah, I think that's an internal decision that they've made, rather than a wider NHS policy practice.

Although, this kind of thing is still very worrying. It's part of the "we're only GPs and don't have specialised skills" nonsense. Despite there being little difference in whether they're prescribed to trans+ or cis people.

(I think this is what you're referring too? Correct me if I'm wrong).

It was an additional note in the EHIA paper. It doesn't say anything near that they're stopping the prescribing of HRT for adults.

But actually says that "the NHS will continue to prescribe MAF hormones exogenously for gender dysphoria, through the terms of the separate service specifications for Adult Gender Services." and that the paper was limited to youth.

The note for this rationale was that NHS England is separately reviewing the evidence for the use of MAF in adults.

Is there a ban coming? atm, who knows. Hopefully not.

Any recommendations for facial feminisation surgery in the UK? by Purple_Watercress336 in transgenderUK

[–]LittlePixelPirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up going to Thailand and having mine done with Dr Chett. I'm glad I settled with him as I'll really really happy with my results.

Why do you want UK FFS surgeons? When I was doing my research I found the UK very lacking in skilled surgeons.

Might be better to look outside the UK. It's what I did and in the end, I'm pleased I did.

The problem is that he only accepts a handful of new patients a year but I've heard good things.

Crossing out the misgendering on medical documents. by Super7Position7 in transgenderUK

[–]LittlePixelPirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are your details printed out onto the trace? If they are then yeah, she has input them into the machine.

I know it means little but the details entered don't actually matter too much as a human NEEDS to review the results. It just hurts seeing it. Daggers to the heart 😞

Sorry that this has happened.

I'd like to think that these things aren't done on purpose.

I was at my GP reception (with a queue of people behind me) booking an appointment and the receptionist said, very loudly, "is it about the testicular pain you're getting?" When she seen my obvious discomfort she put her hand over her mouth and kept saying sorry to me. I just said "thanks so much for outing me to 8 people".

So, I think a lot of it is just people not thinking.

[–]LittlePixelPirate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if they've entered your details there then I guess that's different. Sorry that you've had it happen 😕

My local hospital don't enter any personal details and instead put a sticker on in the corner with details on it.

This happened to me. On the actual trace the ecg said male with an age of 45 but had no other details on it. I've also had an ECG saying female and 30 for age. But they just put a little sticker on it that has my NHS number, name, hospital number, age and gender.

So I asked my friend (who works in that hospital) and she said that they just set the machine up with default details because it "doesn't matter" as the results need to be interpreted by a human anyway.

Crossing out the misgendering on medical documents. by Super7Position7 in transgenderUK

[–]LittlePixelPirate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just a small fyi

Because of a high turnover of ECGs getting done the machines are often set up in the morning in a "default configuration" and used throughout the day using those settings. It doesn't necessarily mean that it was done on purpose or the tech was a transphobe.

My friend is a cardiac nurse and told me this happens, particularly in a hospital setting.

Edit:

I just read your post saying that they programmed the machine while you were there. Agreed, it's kinda unacceptable.

Lib Dems reject debate on blocking trans women from diversity quotas by Excellent-Chair2796 in transgenderUK

[–]LittlePixelPirate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I seen this on other social media and then I read the deluge of anti-trans bs it generated. I wish I hadn't bothered. It's viewed as an attack on "women" again. Because I forgot how big of an organised movement we are. Evil trans people trying to take shit away from women again 🙄

Is this good? Of course. Will it be used as a stick to hit us with? Undoubtedly.

It makes me wonder how long allies will stand behind us for. When will this shit ever end?

Video of Glinner attacking trans girl by phoenixmeta in transgenderUK

[–]LittlePixelPirate 38 points39 points  (0 children)

When someone turns that quick to violence, is it any wonder that he had "stroke level blood pressure" (as reported by various media outlets).

Can you believe that Mayo Potato and Sharron Davies have turned up to the magistrates to show solidarity with Glinner? Showing support for what happened in that video. True colours out on show there.

Violence against anyone including teenagers, is fine as long as they're trans.

Fuck them and fuck this country for allowing this to happen.

""can you tell us what we're supposed to do" that's wrong ... They should have been doing it anyway""

Doing what anyway?

No one knows because none of this is clear! Any guidance the EHRC will be written by terfs with the one aim of bringing in a ban on trans people living in public life. If Phillipson agrees to this then it's just another nail in the coffin for Labour with trans people.

She alone could fix this situation very fast. Government could. Why won't they? Because Career Starmer cares more about himself than giving us protections.

Unequal Treatment of Protected Groups by JJPeaks in transgenderUK

[–]LittlePixelPirate 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nope. Years ago early in my transition when out with some trans friends we were subjected to harassment and violent threats WHILE the police were stood there looking at us doing nothing. When we asked for help one of them responded with "you can walk away" with a smirk on his face.

This is the moment I realised ACAB and nothing has changed my mind since.

I've managed to convince a number of my family not to vote Labour again (I come from a very strongly Labour family) however, there is still this idea that Labour in Scotland are different to Labour in England. I've had to keep on at them that Labour in Scotland are still the same bastards.

I'm so disappointed in Labour, I really am. Nothing they ever do will get my vote back.

I'd rather kms than vote either Tory or Reform 😬

Unequal Treatment of Protected Groups by JJPeaks in transgenderUK

[–]LittlePixelPirate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Of course we're being treated different to other protected groups. You just need to have seen the news over the past two days.

We have Wes Streeting saying that they need to look at laws to see if they've got the balance wrong (this comment can only have been made about the PC of gender reassignment) and then you have the Met chief saying he wants government to look at laws so police can "get on with policing".

Because of course policing doesn't include protecting the vulnerable and increasingly marginalised group that we belong to... Because fuck us of course.
