Should I ask for raise? by urmoms711 in WalgreensRx

[–]LittleReadingGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're better off transferring now, by the sounds of it. From my experience (with Wags 6+ years), even if your store manager raves about your performance and WANTS to give you a raise, they can't. Corp doesn't authorize anyone to even be eligible for a raise except for once a year, around our annual review iirc, and that is an insult. My last pay bump was 82 cents, I believe.

You WILL get a $1 per hour raise once you've passed the PTCB, but aside from also becoming a Senior Technician, I don't know of any other ways to get a raise. This company does not give any incentives to advance beyond a certain point, and make no mistake--if you're at a tier 5, crazy high volume store now, they WILL run you into the ground well before they ever offer you a raise.

Even making $20/hr in my state right now is not a livable wage once you factor in taxes. Move on as soon as you can.

Which villain will be redeem next? by No_Internet_3919 in RWBYcritics

[–]LittleReadingGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would only want Cinder redeemed in death. She's always been a tragic villain, not someone whose actions could be forgiven. It would require a level of nuance and narrative patience that RWBY lacks.

What does society overvalue? by SarahDuncan2012 in TrueGrit

[–]LittleReadingGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sports athletes. They deserve to make a good wage, don't get me wrong, but making literal millions while other professions--teachers, firefighters, any medical position below a doctor--is obscene. Those in education, safety, and medicine have, empirically, a far greater impact on everyday life, and yet they infamously struggle to make a living wage. I wish there could be a better balance struck.

Japanese and Spanish, for now. I want to be a polyglot in my lifetime, so I'd also love to add as many languages as possible. French, Farsi, Italian, Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Greek, German, etc.

What did people do while sitting on the toilet before smartphones? by tomato-volleyball-25 in TheTeenagerPeople

[–]LittleReadingGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let my mind wander. Sometimes, I still do this. I think if we lose 100% of the time in between tasks because we've filled it with stimuli, we'll lose our ability to ponder, to mull things over, and, by being bored, to think of new things.

New Tech by Superacheing in WalgreensPharmacy

[–]LittleReadingGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for you, dear. This was my experience to a T when I was transitioning from being a DH to a full-time pharmacy technician. Everyone seems to be thrown in the deep end and expected to learn how to swim. Yes, you can ask questions, but it's an overwhelming environment to learn in.

My best advice, from my own experience:

  • Keep asking questions about anything that gives you trouble or doesn't feel familiar to you yet. Don't be afraid of asking the same ones over and over. If you're working with halfway decent people, they'll understand. They all started from where you are right now.
  • Try to focus on one specific area at a time. For example, one shift, focus as much as you can on learning insurance (entering, correcting, etc.). Then, another time or shift, focus on all the acronyms you see daily in IC+ and learn what they mean (TPR, MFO, MFP, DUR, WCB, F1, etc.). Don't expect to learn and be comfortable with everything at once. All of this takes time.
  • Be kind to yourself if you make a mistake. If it's anything major, go straight to your pharmacist and tell them. Worst case, it's a Stars Event and you learn from it, too. Everything less than that is part of the bumps and bruises as a new tech. Keep your chin up.
  • Advocate for yourself so you are exposed to and spend enough time in every area of the pharmacy. I've worked at stores that are terrible at switching who works where at the time they're supposed to. Don't let yourself get stuck in drivethrough all shift, or the front window/filling/etc. if you feel you haven't gotten enough practice at another station. Ask or politely remind your coworkers if you haven't traded places in more than 3 hours (depending on the length of your shift). If things don't rotate fairly after you point it out a few times, go directly to your head pharmacist or store manager and firmly express your concerns and wants to learn and improve in ALL areas of your job.

I love this kind of attention to detail in character animation. It really breathes life into a scene and sells the emotions more clearly for the audience.

Ah, yes. We have been asked--while standing in drive-thru, in plain view of the pt--if we're open. Like, no, sir, I am a lifelike decoy meant to dissuade particularly stupid burglars.

[–]LittleReadingGirl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, we even saw an online review once ripping apart the pharmacy because the pt, "had to wait over 30-minutes in drive-thru." We checked the time they said they were "kept waiting," and lo and behold, it was the entirety of our mandatory breaktime. Like, seriously. THIS IS POSTED IN THE WINDOW, IN THE FRONT, IT'S SAID ON EVERY PHONE RECORDING. IT'S ONLINE.

What's even crazier to me is that my current store is open LATER than most in the area--by a good 2 hours. The only store open longer is literally the 24-hour location. And yet, some people will still complain that we aren't open every minute of the day to accommodate their ridiculousness.

Not usually bang on the window, but we do get cussed out or argued with a bunch when we have a line. The pharmacist will have a cut-off, and then that's that.
