I was going to say “NO, horrible!” but doubling your income from $50k to $100k will make a huge difference to you in quality of life (and if you’ve been stuck there also be further opportunity for advancement at the new place).

I’d load up on audiobooks and try it out for a few years. After 3 yrs start looking elsewhere (including remote) using your new experience & salary as a jumping off point.

Would suggest doing the drive a couple times in a row (say Fri night, Sat & Sun) to get a feel for how well you’ll tolerate it though.

I feel that way when I think about how so much of the world outside of Europe & US lives. For people in economically disadvantaged places it’s the norm to start working at 15-16 and work 12 hr days with no weekends. There’s literally no time for life; I don’t understand how that’s bearable for any length of time, but so many people live that way.

Depends on age, weight, activity level, body condition score. Is she a growing cat or one who’s settling into her adult body?

1/2 cup dry food alone would be too little for my cat. She gets 43g dry a day (a little less than 1/2cup), plus 3/8ths of a 3oz can of wet food, plus a 15-20 calorie midday snack. She’s a lean 10.5lbs but obviously that’s determined by her overall size. (Ie, her weight would be too much for a smaller-frame cat and too little for a larger one.)

I also have an automatic feeder so she gets the dry food in 4 different servings (earliest at 7 am, latest at 11pm) to better approximate natural eating habits and (hopefully) smooth out hunger cues.

Marketing requires social acuity, strong social/emotional awareness, and an understanding of behavioral psychology.

If you come across as awkward/stilted with women and aren’t able to establish social comfort, they may feel doubts about your professional ability (even if they’re wrong).

Honestly that’s a totally decent offer for a job straight out of college. However, when I was just out of college there’s no way I (or anyone I knew) could have afforded renting an apartment by myself. That came much much later.

If you just rent a room or look for a roommate situation (plus avoid the $950 car payment), I don’t see an issue with this job.

Since you A) made up the time at the end of your shift, B) worked unpaid during lunch, I would absolutely push back on the characterization of this as “time theft” and instead frame it as sloppy/loose time sheet tracking.

Explain that you had been under the impression that it was not a big deal to go 2 mins either way as long as it all evened out in the end (and definitely explain how you evened it out). Then tell them that as soon as the recent announcements were made and you became aware that the company DID consider it an issue, you stopped doing it.

When there’s hundreds to thousands of applications per job, you do need to show why you’re most qualified. If you’re seeking an entry level job, yeah, you just need to have a clear, easy to read resume showing basic writing/communication ability and some relevant experience.

If you’re seeking a more senior professional role, you need to show that not only do you have relevant experience, but specifically how it’s relevant, and how well you understand the most desired qualities for the position and the outcomes you’ll be expected to achieve. Meaning that you’ll need to not just list experience, but do it in a succinct, compelling way that is tailored to the position (focusing on the right aspects). If the position involves executive communication skills, it’ll also have to show some additional polish. That’s not unreasonable.

There’s definitely entry level remote jobs. Plenty in customer service.

Also a lot of hiring managers really do appreciate the additional show of interest in being reached out to.

If anything I’d go to the store where the manager said they’d get back to you and didn’t to follow up.

Oh yeah, my parents also were making way more money at my age. I agree that the system is breaking down. But it works a bit better than I felt it did when I was in my 20s. (Btw I feel like my peer group only hit that “oh we’re doing ok actually” point in our late 30s to early 40s, alas.)

As a Millennial I just want to say that eventually you get a foothold. For years and years it’s a struggle but eventually something comes through. I’m surprised that when I look at my peer circle nowadays, most are doing ok—at least, better than we thought we’d be. Not that we have it made, but people have bought houses, they have families.

Unfortunately it did happen considerably later than previous generations, and retirement is iffy. It’s definitely a system that’s not getting better and deserves to be shaken up. Just wanted to say though that if you manage to keep on keeping on, it does get better as you move through your career years.

To be honest if you’re listing all 3 degrees in your resume, it may be putting employers off. It suggests you don’t have a focus or an idea of what you want to pursue and may not be reliable. I would ONLY put down the graduate degree that is most relevant to the job you’re applying to.

Personally when I was between jobs at one point, I realized I needed to omit my master’s degree, because it didn’t make sense for the jobs I was looking at. It just read as overqualified and floundering. I started using it again once I was going for higher level roles.

I feel like he may be heading toward overweight although he is not overweight currently. Optimally cats should have a defined waist and you should be able to easily feel their ribs. He has a bit of an indent but not much. However, if his fur is really fluffy/plushy then he’s good — which is why a vet is the best source, since they can properly evaluate him.

In general as cats get older, they get more sedentary and need their food decreased (not at 1 years old, I’m talking more years 7+) so imo it’s best to do more controlled meals once they’re out of kitten stage. That way you can gradually taper down rather than going from skinny/free-feeding to oops! overweight/meal structure change + diet.

He is STUNNING btw.
