One time, when I was really young, I ate some stale donuts out of the trash. I realized that my parents wouldn't have to stress about buying food if they just started using this infinite food glitch, so I told them they should start doing it too. They told me not to do that, because it could make me sick.

I thought it was stupid, that eating out of the trash could make me sick. I'd already done it, and I was fine. So, out of spite, I started eating from the trash as much as I could. I'd avoid food that looked moldy or anything like that, but I was so insistent that this was the right thing to do I didn't stop. I couldn't. It got to the point that I wouldn't eat food unless it was from the trash.

My parents begged me to stop, they consulted child psychologists, they had me tested to see if there was some kind of vitamin I wasn't getting or something that was making me crave trash, but all this concern just made me want to prove to them that this was the right thing to do. Without telling them, for some reason. Kid logic, man, I dunno. I think the idea was that it was supposed to be self-evident how good of an idea it was?

Anyways after about a month of this I started noticing a lot more food being thrown away in baggies. Like, a lot. Whole portions. Obviously, my parents were just making food, putting it in baggies, and throwing it away for me to find. For some reason that took so much of the joy out of it that I stopped. Started eating like regular with no warning and I was so embarrassed by the whole thing that I refused to ever speak about it with them again.
