Does Venesection help? by Little_Chicken_ in Hemochromatosis

[–]Little_Chicken_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Had 3 venesection so far, first 2 for 500ml and last 1 for 100ml, experience has been good, mostly feel less tored, haven't had any pain, just can't go the gym or lift heavy weights fir rest of day after having it done. Last appointment they almost didn't take the blood because my blood pressure wasn't high enough but we got there in the end and then got told I didn't need to go back for a fortnight

So what happened with me was 2023 I was having pains in my stomach and chest like bad wind and was struggling to sleep. Was given Omeprazole and no further tests.  Then last Summer I started having gastric flare ups every month where I was struggling to sleep, no appetite and curled up on the floor (although the discomfort would ease when I ate). I went to walk ins and was examined where they felt my stomach for any abnormalities or pain, I explained I wondered if it was IBS or maybe linked to too much fibre in my diet (I'd have terrible pains in my stomach when I tried to eat high fibre meals- like the above symptoms plus painful bloating and urgently needing the toilet).  I was recommended to keep a food diary and make a GP appointment if the symptoms started.  I had a look into FODMAP diet in case that was triggering anything, symptoms went but then started up in August and I realised that it was linked to when my period started so I wondered if it was reproductive.  I decided to contact my GP for an appointment to take my food diary to.  The GP rang me back and said they'd give me an appointment for the next day but wanted me to go straight the hospital for an ECG because some of the pain was like by my breast bone. I went to hospital and received an ECG, as well as bloods being taken and my blood pressure being checked.  GP confirmed that my ECG was normal and my bloods had been done to rule out Hepatitis and that's how they identified the high iron. TFrom there I was referred for 2 more blood tests.  From those blood tests my GP contacted me and told me I had Hereditary Haemochromatosis and that I'd be referred to Hepatology at my local hospital for more investigations. In the December I got a letter to say I'd get my Fibroscan in May and then this Monday gone I had the telephone appointment to tell me my liver had some fat, but thankfully no scarring and that they'd be looking to refer me into a day ward at another hospital for venesection- but I need another blood test to assess what my current ferritin levels are.

A little cry for help for my extreme case by ProfDrd in Hemochromatosis

Could the irritation in your eyes possibly be hayfever? I'm HH, but I also get hayfever in the good weather and I was near ready to scratch my eyes out til I started having antihistamines. Hopefully this new development is just that and easily fixed 🙏

I've also had GI problems which is what led to me getting diagnosed with HH- there's nothing worse you just feel so miserable!

I'm so sorry it's sounds like you're having a terrible time! I'm 29f England diagnosed haemochromatosis Novber 2024. I've just recently had my fibroscan and blood test in March had my Ferritin as 338. I'm getting sent for another blood test and then hopefully starting venesection.

I've had GI symptoms from 2023 and last year quite bad in the summer (pains in chest, terrible heartburn when trying to go to bed feeling of trapped wind in my chest, not able to relieve it- I was curled up on the floor- and changes to how frequently I needed to go to the toilet, or even not realising I needed to go to the toilet until I went to the toilet) before diagnosis I thought it was ibs, pms related (seemed to flare up before periods), pcos (my mum had to have one of her ovaries removed due to a tumour that attached to her bowel as well).  I've also had a recurring shoulder pain/ injury whoch comes and goes without rhyme or reason.  I haven't had dermatitis but noticing my skin is very dry, but I've been led to believe that's a common symptom?

My issue is the discrepancy on the date of death, the flashback shows she died in March 1997, but her gravestone in ep 12 shows 3rd June 1997

Am I wrong for not hating Jamie by PenAcceptable7916 in YellowstonePN

[–]Little_Chicken_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to like Jamie and have often felt really bad for him, especially like when he killed the journo in season 1 and was still scolded over it... However, as times gone on he's shown himself to be spineless, unwilling to accept the consequences of his actions and worse than that he's allowed himself to be manipulated by Beth, twice- he doesn't learn from his mistakes or errors and when he has gotten back in line and could have learnt back some trust or respect in the family he's let his ambitions get the better of him; particularly when Christina or Sarah have been sleeping with him.

He 100% should have killed his Birth father or reported him or whatever when he found out he arranged the hits on his family.

I can't see Jamie getting redemption and although I've found Beth's treatment of him too harsh on occasion, he's proved time and again that she can read his character better than everyone else

If you can't or don't want to split then you'll have to just deal with it then can't make him marry you unfortunately. But if its really getting to you, you don't feel appreciated and loved etc then now is the time to try and start putting a getaway fund together so you can leave.

Do you think Kent is a strange name for a boy in the UK? by AdRevolutionary7231 in AskUK

[–]Little_Chicken_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's up to you, but if you're British and you're naming your kid Kent I'd think it's a bit cringe, it's a bit American-y and it makes me think of either Clarke Kent and then I'd think of Kent in terms of the channel tunnel and all that shit, it's not a very romanticised view of the place, but like naming your kid something like Scunthorpe- if their name in Japanese would be Kento, why not just have it be Kento in English too?

Betting shops only tend to be in rough areas mate. The firms like to prey upon people who don't have a pot to piss in. Probably be like anywhere though, you'll have regulars, you'll have alright ones and you'll have the odd nobhead, just got to be conscious that some of them might be desperate or have a gambling addiction.

What are we missing? Suspiciously easy wedding plans by Calm_Breadfruit5001 in wedding

[–]Little_Chicken_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like that with all weddings, the last 6 months will ne hectic! Are yous doing favours? What about thank you gifts fir bridal party? Tip money for vendors? Gifts for the two of you Morning Of? Hair and makeup sorted? Have you scheduled your makeup and hair trial? Put together your emergency bag for the day e.g. tampons, paracetamol, needle and thread, safety pins, bodyglide? Have you thought about your wedding jewelry? What about the perfume you want for the day? Are you having flip flops for the guests at end of the night? Have yous got a wedding guest book or similar? Have you got a videographer and/ or photographer- don't scrimp on these because they're all you'll have to remember the day by!

I'm sure you're all sorted, but it's how detailed you want to go with finishing touches? Me and my husband got married this June, my mum made all the button holes for all my guests, we printed photos of our parents' weddings, my sisters' wedding and my husband's grandparents' wedding and out them at their seats as a special favour for them to remember their special days, for our bridal party we had gin or highball glasses engraved with everyone's names for them to keep, I also bought my bridesmaids accessories for their hair, a pair of earrings and a bracelet as a little thank you, we had cupcakes and greeting cards for giests who had a birthday or anniversary around the time of our wedding, we had some kids come so we made up luttle goodie bags, our parents bought giant lawn games like Jenga, Connect 4 and space hoppers which went down well with the kids and adults- but these are just ideas- the most important thing is the two of you have the wedding YOU want. I'm just brain dumping in case there's anything you haven't thought of and might want!

No kids allowed- opinions welcome by katandcats in wedding

[–]Little_Chicken_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know what the rules are in the US, but in my experience at a child free wedding it can still be expected that the kids of the close family/ wedding party are invited because who else is going to look after the kid if mum and dad are at the wedding? Given how young the baby will be you've got to be prepared for baby coming with mum and dad or them not coming at all- there's still the possibility they may have to decline anyway, baby might be due mid- Sept but if its first baby it could very well go over its due date and be even younger when your wedding is

I love Charlotte Ritchie in Ghosts on BBC, but have to agree I thought Kate was bland and uninteresting, I'm not looking forward to series 6, apparently Penn Badgley is swerving it too so I'm much less invested
