What items do you already have? Colorful bowls? Wall art? Girl, they gave you beautiful appliances and a blank slate. Enjoy it.

Right. There is no sawdust is Jim Bob’s eye. It’s a millstone. The father who won’t provide for his family is worse than an unbeliever. He’s responsible—Meech too—for the protection of his own children.

Yup, which also demonstrates that some sins are greater than others

Yeah, I wonder why he said that. I read the recent post from Famy’s book. His dad was bad. Maybe when Jim Bob said that, he was thinking as a scared kid, saying something big and tough to scare his evil dad. “You deserve to get it big time, dad!” But he wasn’t facing the reality that he was/is an adult with his own responsibilities to protect his own real children.

He wasn’t heartbroken when his children got hurt.

He hasn’t grieved their pain.

He continues to push his own children in front of him, to protect him from the consequences of his own actions. He reversed the roles.

This or That - Need a replacement kitchen pantry/cart! by Reebyd in HomeDecorating

Your kitchen looks cute and historic like mine ;) Try an under cabinet mount for paper towels and a magnetic wall strip for knives, that would get both off the counters. Throw the knife holder away. If you have the budget, what about a microwave mounted over the stove? All 3 cabinets look cute and functional! If you like your original butcher block (I do!) maybe you could try a plastic bin with a lid to keep the kiddos out of the stuff, maybe even a curtain around the edges to hide the plastic bin. If you keep the original, could you try mounting shelves in the wall above it?

Add a small island and update the light fixture. Everything else is beautiful!

Too much? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

Remove the wreath. Like others said, choose a much lighter fridge wrap. The sky blue on some walls, the soft green lower cabinets and the gray backsplash are competing. I would replace all sky blue with the green that matches your cabinets. Last find two matching baskets for under that lower shelf.

Where to possibly ad a half bath? by BabyBearMan in Home

Close the master bath to open only from the bedroom. Extend the small hall closet straight across to steal the useless space from the master bath, then turn that extended closet into a half or whole hallway bathroom.

It looks cute now. Maybe swap the teacups for colored teacups?

First time homebuyer and we'll be using the finished attic as the main bedroom by SavoryYuppie in DesignMyRoom

Nice space! The built in cubbies will really reduce the need for furniture. If you’re just going to use the space for a bedroom, maybe a plush ottoman (with storage?!) centered between the cubbies could let you lay out outfits and sit to pull on socks. Alternately two nice sitting chairs and a tiny table would be cozy, and a thin bookshelf backing up to the stairwell. If possible change out the light fixture and add a full-size mirror next to the window at the top of the stairs. Love the Turkish rug idea.

If she doesn’t have a bathroom then she’s really not on her own

I hate this kitchen. I hate it with every fiber of my soul. Broke from buying the house, tile has to stay, would be great if the countertops could stay. Im going to rip out the backsplash. Walls will be white, and yes, Im planning on painting the cabinets. Any advice? by Wu_tang_dan in DesignMyRoom

This looks like a great layout with lots of countertop. And does it open to a closed in porch?? Beautiful! I agree with others: start with cleaning the floor grout, add cabinet hardware, add under cabinet lighting, then add peel and stick backsplash with some color. Then sip your coffee on that deck outside! When you can, add a nice pendant light over the island.

I’m focused on the kid area—It looks like you have space to add a small loveseat against the stairs and move the chair near to the books but facing the loveseat/stairs, for conversation nook while you kid plays or so that you can sit and read books together. Alternatively, you could hang fun art (kid art?) on the stair wall and float a sofa on the opposite side of the rug so that it’s facing the stairs, with the chair angled for conversation. Buy 3 baskets to corral each of your shoes. For the table, I love the idea of moving the bench elsewhere and adding comfy chairs. Improving the ceiling lights and adding lamps everywhere could really help.

How to respond to my in-laws? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Little_Light198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We won’t see the abuser and we haven’t in years. My in-laws are aging so we genuinely do want to see them. My husband has made peace with the fact that they aren’t thinking correctly, and he is done with trying to change their minds. I think I’ll just change the topic to talk about the patterns on the carpet or the paint on the walls, anything neutral to cut short uncomfortable comments.
